Evening All. Just joined what seems to be a merry band of ZX owners (old and normally aspirated, bit like yours truly). Question is, I appear to have a dud oil pressure gauge, is this common? any advice would be appreciated, also any suggestions for decent garages in the croydon/ surrey area

Hi Guys My car's come with 225/55/16's on the front and 225/50/16's on the rear! Will the extra 5% profile on the fronts significantly upset the handling? Unfortunately they've plenty of tread so I don't really want to replace them unnecessarily. Cheers Jon

I have been given first refusal on a 1988 ZX300 2+2 in black. It has t-top and is in generaly decent condition inside and out, other than it desperately needs a good scrub down. The car is in its original state, even the wheels are the originals. Seems quite unusual though in the body styling department...rear lights are right across, similar to some late Sylvia's, with the numberplate on bumper, and the front end looking slightly 'Corvette Stingray' like. The engine sounds good, pulls well, new top rad hose required but otherwise sound. Couple of surface areas of metalworm but noting too serious. Interior is butterscotch cord with leather inserts, also in very good…

Can some clarify a few things for me. The Racelogic system should cut the pulse to the fuel injectors and therefore limit the power through to the wheels. Why do I get clouds of black unburnt fuel behind me when the traction control kicks in? Are there some default preferred setting for the Z? Steve E

I wonder if anyone can help. I have a black 90TT jap import with an auto box. At junctions for example, when I start off I press the accelerator and nothing happens for a second and then the car moves! the engine is warm and this has only started happening. It is like there is a dead zone at the intial stage of acceleration. There are no judders when the box moves up a gear. only happens in first. Any one help?? Cheers Ian

My new clutch got fitted over the weekend. It's an RPS Street, as supplied by Smithy. Feels just the same as the old one. Work was done by a guy just outside Chelmsford as recommended by Mike Feeney. He's a good guy and I would also recommend him for anyone in the approximate area who needs similar work done. BTW turns out that the old clutch was not completely knackered and still had some wear left in it, it's just that the monster torque of the auto engine was more than enough to overcome the clamping force of the standard clutch !

Okay.. driving into work this morning.. got to one roundabout in MK, slowed down, sitting in traffic thinking.. hang on this feels a bit rough.. glanced at all guages.. all okay, oil pressure a bit on the low side, but that gauge is about as useful as a chocolate fireguard.. idle however is down to about 500/600 and getting a lot of lumpy shake on the car. My exhaust is blowing a bit at the moment, so quickly turned off radio, popped window down and that's serving to make the "chug chug" sound of the engine all the more prominent. Still sitting in traffic a distinctly oily smell has accompanied the problem.. chugged into work (literally) not getting much power out of …

Thanks for all the help on "Rear seat removal". I am planning to be in UK in July on holiday with a hire car. Is there any good places I could call into to get bits such as panel fittings etc for my 1986 300ZX. I would look in a wreckers here in Perth but the local supplies are limited.

Had a run in with a big convertable Merc full of lads today. Was on the M20 stuck behind a slow moving car with them on my arse. As the car in front got out of the way I booted it. Had the boost set on 1 bar so shot off. I could see them trying to keep up but was clearly pulling away. Anyway, me being reasonably sensible and not wanting to exceed the speed limit(x2) by much stopped accelerating. They caught me up and went past at some silly speed punching the air like they'd won a Grand Prix. How I laughed...

Hey folks, Just recently, my zed started making a nasty noise from the front pass side wheel area. When I'm turning right, mostly round roundabouts, there's a screetchy/whiney type noise - like metal edge on metal edge. I can't see anything tho  . Any ideas what this might be. It happened all today, and once before (also sunny and warm IIRC?). Any ideas what this might be? Another way to describe the noise is like a large heavy gate, or a safe, being opened, it's very odd  . Cheers for any help :) Pete

Is there anywhere else it could be getting power from?? Just a little curious :)

Here's where I risk imbecile status, but I'm new to the Z & don't know where everything is or isn't for the purpose of checking everything's topped up etc... does the cooling system not have an expansion chamber like the 200 where you check the water level? Ive sussed the air con out I think but this Clifford alarm is a bit of a pain. Where's the washer bottle? Before you rip into me, in my defence I only got the car Monday & I work 6 till 6 so I've not had much chance to get aquainted yet. Cheers lads. Oh by the way, that new Williams F1 leather cleaner & conditioner seems to have done a nice job.
