General Discussions - 300ZX Related

As some of you are aware, it seems that I have been running on 5 cylinders for a while now. The problem seems to be with the 2nd injector or the wiring to it. The coil, plug and connection to the coil have been checked and there are no problems there (get a big fat juicy spark). However the plug is not very wet :( . The injector has a 12v constant running to it but, I'm not sure how to test the pulse (i.e. the earth wire). I have rewired the Traction Control on Sunday but it seems that connection 110 on the ECU (which is the 2nd injector) was a nice firm connection. I will be by passing the TC tonight if I have time. 2 of the bulbs in my dash seem to have blown (tacho & fuel gauge). How easy is it to get to these? Will I have to remove the steering wheel? Thanks in advance Adam

I recently asked a company to quote for importing a 94+ Z for me and this is their response : "A 300ZX twin turbo of T-Bar 1991-92 should be possible to find in excellent condition (classy, not overstated - or we can find a standard car also) for between 9,350 - 10,500 pounds OTR." If you were using boost jets and went into safety boost would the boost drop to 7psi or would it drop 2-3psi below what you were previously boosting ie from 14 to 11-12 also can you go in to safety boost if there are never any error codes

I finally fitted my induction kit at the weekend, a major achievement for someone as Mechanically inept as me :D, 6 months after I bought it! Anyway, nobody mentioned it was such a barstool of a job removing the front two bolts to remove the stock airbox! It took me an hour to remove two bolts! Mike

Detonation advise/ info is often spoken about here also is poor running both intemittent and worse. My own experiece of testing fuel makes and manufacturers has been inconclusive...the Shell optimax as one subject matter, although I tried this for some 200 miles of use I was never totally convinced and reverted back to the usual unleaded. Now in two years of ownership of my present zed running 14 psi etc etc I have NEVER EVER knowingly suffered from detonation regardless of where I got my petrol from. Im talking top speed here, done a search but not much info on it, so was wondering if de- limited what can they do? i just had mine reading over 165 and it was still pulling, im not standard, but not got as much done as some on here, but the fact that i had to slow as end of road was approaching (private road;) ) made me wonder what it could do flat out, eg real speed not micky mouse speedo etc

Has anybody noticed after fitting a mph convertor chip that the steering is considerably lighter? I know the PAS now thinks its only doing 5/8 of the actual speed but should it really make a big difference? Anyone got a graph of speed-assistance for the zed, is there one in the service manual? Ok guys the results are in..... :D :D Myself and Paul Gunn had a little run on the way to Andy Z's. We got up to about 130 until a celica turbo slowed us down. when it moved over we went on to about 140ish then backed off. After speaking we both agreed that my 300zx Jap manual pulled away from Paul's 300zx Jap Auto in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. But while I was in 4th and 5th my manual stopped pulling away from Pauls. today i had my z on the limiter , because its mileometer is in klm,s what speed was i doing i would like to know when it cuts in cheers cully z :D :D :D :D

can anyone try and shed some light on this.set off 4500rpm car changes gear from 1st to wot seems like 3rd or 4th a rpm drop off 2 to 2500rpm dont seem rite to me if u boot it from a stand still it hits the rev limiter and cant find a gear u back off a bit and it picks one up.but if u select HOLD it seems to go through the gears ok also i dont think its finding top gear flat out its reading 190kph but the revs are prity close to the red line well 190kph isnt even 120mph its a 91 tt jap spec is it time to give it a vikings fueneral

When removing the windscreen wipers, is there just 1 nut to undo followed by a tug of war.... or am I missing something? Thanks Mark

Hi, A week or so ago I posted about my windscreen problem, the "unavailability" of the 300ZX screen turned out that Autoglass had not paid thier bill to Nissan and thus the account was on stop - Plonkers!! :p Anyway they phoned me up to say they had the glass and trim. They turned up and explained they did not have the same tint screen - i said no probs and left them to it. Anyway half an hour later the chap told me the glass would not fit - it was 1 inch too short :mad: So what is going on, several people told me on here they had UK glass fit thier jap car! Hi Guys, My brother is looking to buy a Nissan Skyline R33 GTS 25 Turbo ( M reg). Now we don't know what the difference is between a : GTS, GTR and GTT??? I do know GTR V-Spec is the best and it also has two turbos and 4WD whereas GTS 25 Turbo has a single turbo and Hicas steering. Could someone please advise me on the differences among these three models and wot should we be looking at technically when viewing this vehicle.....it has Full Kit, 19" rims, Standard enging except HKS BOV, 55k, FNSH, 1owner since in UK (Jap abviously)-wot sort of price should it be up for aswell??? Hi Guy's Hope to fit a new steering wheel soon, is there much involved in getting the old one off. How does it come off, does the horn push just pull up. I'd like to fit a MOMO Commando, what happens to the horn and cruise control's are they easily moved. Any help much appreciated. Cheers Dave. PS Who sells Cheapest Momo Commando.

I Am wiring the afr up. does anybody have the pin numbers on the ecu to save me a load of time tracing the wiring up. 1/ to ecu pressure sensor 2/away from pressure sensor 3/rpm signal 4/ throttle position sensor signal my cars a uk tt auto. thanks Richard

I've just got a new headunit that I'm going to try and install. Anything I need to know? Is it a straight forward procedure? It's a single DIN unit and it's going to go in the slot where the stock Radio/Cassette unit is housed. Can anyone tell me if the electric window switches light up when you switch on the main lights of the car, at the moment my passanger switch doesnt light at all, and my drivers side, the arrow pointing towards the car lights but not the arrow pointing down towards boot. If these are suppossed to light can you replace bulbs or are they a sealed unit and need complete replacing, cheers. 94 uk man TT.

Well gold body work seems to have made a return. There's some nice bronzy/gold shades around with a orangey tinge in it. How do you think such shades would suit the 300ZX??? Geoff.
