While fixing a sqeaky door trim last night I noticed the cone on the speaker in passanger door was ripped almost round the entire speaker!! For some reason I forgot to measure the speaker size before I put the trim back on! Anyone know what dimensions I need for a simple as possible replacement? Since my sensitive ears hadn't picked up on this fault I don't think I'll spend too much money on replacements!! Cheers David

Hi, I just bought a '91 TT manual import which has though exhausts, performance air filter, a superchip and increased boost levels. I was told that the boost is set to max 15psi (?) but there is no new boost guage, just the original Jap spec one and I understand the turbos are also original spec items. I have heard all sorts of advice about what the car can take regarding boost level (with figures varying from 10 to 15). But I haven't just bought and insured a 400+BHP modified car so I can tune it back down again! That said - I don't want to do expensive damage by running too much boost either. I'd firstly like to get an accurate boost gauge fitted, possibly wit…

Hey folks, I've booked my Zed in at Nissan for its MOT on Monday. I'm sure it'll pass but am slightly concerned about emissions. Is emissions test failing common among us Zedowners? Mine's decatted also. I 'eard the trick about pulling that hose out (dunno what it's called but could point it out) but do you think this'll be necessary, or just a trick in case it fails  Also, the car will be sat there all morning waiting, so won't have been warmed up - will this be a problem? Or shall I tell them to warm it up first (like they'll listen  ) Thanks everyone :) Pete

A guy in the states has e-mailed me with a sill cover he is making. I have bought stuff off him in the past and he seems fair. He has come up with this cover that covers most of the plastic, but not all. I personally prefer the full covers that were available but were very expensive. The engraving on the sill in the picture is custom engraved, the normal ones will have "300zx". If anyone is interested, then let me know. Vijay

Because I got my import serviced when I bought it, the service intervals don’t match with the “correct” mileage – and it’s in km anyway! The services should be A B A C A B A C etc with A being the little one and C being the biggy. In theory, my next services should be B at 145,000km, A at 155,000km and C at 165,000km. The timing belt was replaced at 71,300km and since it should be replaced every 100,000km, it looks as if I can wait until the next C service at 165,000km. The water pump failed just after that. Does this mean I should replace the water pump now (preventative) or wait until when the timing belt gets changed and do the two at the same time?…

I have found a 1984 300zx turbo, It would basically be for parts or someone to fix up. The engine runs well with 70,000 miles on it but smokes when it starts up after it sits for a while. The seats are pretty bad and cracked. The t top roofs are in alright condition. the transmission is good and the car runs, but isnt safe to drive because the back end seems to walk around and the breaks are basically nonexistant. The body is in ok condition the paint is very old and it shows and the backend above the tires have rusted a lot! Its got a newer exhaust and i was told it goes. what would make the back end move? And what could I try to sell this for? Would it be bette…

If anyone is in a hurry for a part for their Z try U-Save Auto . Most parts takes around 3 weeks from Japan but this company have bits flown in every week. You pay a slight premium for this service but if you are really stuick it's worth it. I needed a new wiring loom and delivery would have been 1st May at the earliest through normal routes. These guys will have one on Monday and I only phoned them yesterday. They also deal with seconds hand parts. Might be worth putting in the links section.

I have spent countless hours reading articles about what are common problem and failures on the Z.... I have also noticed that as time goes by the same questions are raised again and again.... I am not sure if this has been done before but how about creating the definitive top 10 most common problems. When the list has been created and agreed, perhaps a guide could be written on how to resolve such issues and then maybe this could be uploaded to the FAQ section on this website... What do you guys reckon? If this has been done before then sorry to waste anyones time.... B.

Having finally made the decision to lash out on another set of wheels for my zed, I have becoming really dispondant! vistiting web sites and wheel shops to no avail! The vast range of styles and finishes is a nightmare, but what has really got me confused is the tyre issue, if any one can help me I will really appreciate it. The wheels I presently have were fitted in Japan and are deep dish 17" jobs 9" wide rears with 8" fromts wearing 265 x 40x 17" and 235x 45 x 17" I replaced the tyres less than 1000 miles ago and have been very happy with the look and ride. The rears were previously 255 and the move to 265 made the rear view of them awsome! they ac…

Well, today I thought I was just going to meet AndyP to borrow his spare set of Alloys - but when I arrived we discovered my Z had sprung a leak! :( The lower rad hose was split - and I thought I was stuffed! But thanks to the resourcefulness of Andy, my Z made it home under her own power, and not on the back of a low loader! Not only did Andy have a spare lower Rad hose, but he also took the time to fit it! Due to the location of the bottom Jubilee clip removal of the hose was not easy - but Andy managed it. He also topped it up with some Anti Freeze that he bought for his own Z! What a top bloke!! :D I can't thank Andy enough for the impromptu h…

Hi, I have investigated in getting my stereo sounds upgraded for some plans in the pipe works, and it has been said that the door speakers need to be upgraded. So does anyone know how to get to these speakers, (I have had a look, and does it involve removing the whole door panel?) and also, to save me taking the lot off twice, what size are these speakers, they look 4" looking at the cover in the door, but can never be sure. Cheers Daz:confused:
