Right info needed please people! Right i've been told that a 200sx has T28 turbos, is this true? and you know whats comeing next domt you?, will the turbo off a 200sx fit the Zed?

Just talking to one of the GTO guys (bought my blitz stuff) and quite a few of them use a really nice system which we should be using!! Its a PDA system which interfaces directly with the ecu and a knock box and can display over 30 different parameters and it looks cool. I dont know if we have anything like this but i havnt heard of anything and best of all it only cost £250 including the sony pda which is peanuts for that kind of control of all your cars workings. So can any of our trader get hold of anything like this or why not use the club to go to the people who make this and get them to do something for us. http://www.pocketlogger.com/ …

After 6 months of painless Z motoring, had my fisrst problem last night. Filled up with petrol, unlocked car (by remote), went to start as normal and nothing - fuel pump primed, all electrical systems working, just no turn of starter motor. Called the RAC, after hunting about checking under bonnet fuses, stil nothing - my thoughts were leaning towards a lose starter motor wire or an imobilser problem. At this point, everything else was working, remote central locking, alarm fob, CD, all ignition lights etc. Then RAC man gets under the steering column and turns the key several times whilst poking some sort of device into the fuses under there. Had the car for a week and a half, due to one thing and another, this afternoon was the first chance I've had to take it out ona dry sunny day for a blast around the countryside. The performance (and fuel consumption) are staggering - no effort required to make swift progress, car pulls in any gear at any speed, is a hoot when nailing it in 2nd or 3rd. Even more impressive is the acceleration in 4th from 80, pins me right in the seat! The noise it makes is superb as well, turns heads are you cruise past. Very very easy job - removed the door cards, removed the existing speakers (standard hitachi rubbish) and the metal plate they were screwed to, enlarged the holes in the door cards slightly and screwed the 6x9s into place. Make a big difference to the sound and look great. Need to figure out how to tackle the rear ones now!

I noticed a few little things which I have only noticed today. First there is a ticking noise at idle. I will get a sound clip of this in a second. The ticking goes when I rev the engine. Also, there is a lot of smoke coming from my exhausts.:cry: Here is a video of my car smoking. Its strange as its not really blue/purple. Its more grey. I is pouring out of one side and then stops. Also when I rev the engine a little I get puffs of grey smoke out then. It also sounds like it is misfiring if you listen to the video. Also at the end of the video is a ticking which has first occured today. I think I am coming towards deep trouble here unless people…

Hi All, Came out of my house yesterday, saw a big puddle under my engine. Looked like water.. but drive off the temperature gauge went all the way to the top after 5 mins of driving. I have coolant leaking from somewere under the engine toward the back, would it be ok to take the car to a normal garge for them to change the cooland pipes if thats where its leaking from? :cry: Or is it best to take the car too someone who knows zx's ? I have an aftermarket fog switch , which did have 3 wires going into it. I took the switch out to do something and for the life of me can't remember which wire goes to which connector spade, I thought I did it right but keep blowing the light fuse when I turn it on Its a 6 pin connector numbered 1-6 , pins 3 and 6 are not in use so what wire would go to what number ie earth to 4 , live to 2 etc Getting hacked off with replacing fuses :( Any help appreciated as always Ryan

i need to get the wheel hub off to put some longer bolts in! there is a small disc in the middle i presume i need to get out so i can get to the nut and split pin???? advice plz..or am i looking in the wrong place? thanks jay

Im still looking to buy one but it looks like I need a uk car and NOT an import down to insurance. Tesco (who Im with with my Supra Turbo) wants over £1000 for an import and only £450 for a UK TT. Does anyone know a good insurer for imports? Im 33 - full no claims, shouldnt be a problem

Bit of advice needed A small bubble under the paint on the rear wheel arch appeared about the size of a penny. I took the paint off, coated it with rust cure and repainted it. After a month it is starting to come back so i presume it is corroding from the inside. The problem is it can't be accessed due to the inner wing. How do I stop the currosion? Cheers Ady

I tried starting my Zed last night (after having it sitting on the drive for about three weeks). It wouldn't start, and every time I turned the key, I heard a humming/spinning noise. When I explained this t someone I know, they said it could be that the starter motor isn't engaging....I just thought it was a flat battery, because the alarm was acting strangely into the bargain. Anyway, my question is: Can I just try starting it from another car with jump leads, in the usual way.....there's nothing wrong with doing this on a Zed is there? Failing that, its a bloody RAC pick up truck....again!:cry:

I inched slightly closer to ZX ownership today with my first drive, a big thank you for the suggestions earlier, on what to look for I must have looked a pro lifting carpets and peeling back rubbers and staring at bolts to see if the paint had been broken. Little did they know I had not a clue :D OK, this turbo auto had a couple of things that I would like some guidence upon. In to park, handbrake on I turned off the ignition and took out the key but the engine kept running - it only stopped when I opened the door - is this normal? What is a turbo timer supposed to do? Got a 1990 fairlady TT with a dicky auto gearbox drives but no 2nd or overdrive. 1years mot tax 6months excellent engine, bodywork, and leather interior spilt rims new tyres. Thinking of selling what would be a realstic price in this condition.

When I first start the car up the orange 'Power' light flashes about 10 times really fast, as though it's doing a gearbox diagnostic. Why should it do that? whats it trying to tell me? Also my speedo keeds dying:(

Hi all! its late! Went to see Kill Bill tonight, saw a ZX on film!!!!!!! No one seen it yet? Moving on. Coming home doing 70+ my auto decides, to like come out of O/D & then back again for no reason. This happend on at least 3 occassions. No O/D light. Definate rise & fall of RPM with gear change or O/D but not by me! if that makes sence. Auto box reconed only last year! for £1400. WTF is going on! On a :) polly bushes new front brake pads & discs judder GONE:dance: Arthur

Had a run with a V6 Clio (3.0ltr???) and wasn't as quick as I thought, read about some time ago or am I mistaken and they are quick? Can't say I whooped his ass but I did enough to let him know who is boss chops on the tarmac......(I'm just glad it was a rolling start and it was straight!!) :D Matty.

this may seem a bit daft to some of you die hards on here, but sod it here goes anyway.As we all know the low beam is crap and this set me thinking cos I've a spare set in the garage-- could the high beam reflector be modified to take a standard H4 hi/lo lamp, as if I'm right it's the position of the lamp filament that alters the beam pattern. if it's though to be worth doin then I may have a go--- I know it'll mean altering the hieght and spread of the hi beam reflector but I just wondered and the wiring mods aren't a problem. Pete :)

I bought a brand new OEM EFI harness for my TT ZX. Today I try to install it but I am stuck. Has anybody attempted to replace the harness without removing the engine? Actually the engine is not my obstacle. I manage to remove the rubber cover thats sits between the firewall (outside the car), i remove the bolt that is next to it, I remove my ECU, I remove the tierack thats a bit further up the ECU but now its stack. I try to pull the harness out but i only manage to move it 12cm. Now its stack. DO i need to remove the dashboard? If anybody has any clue please let me know

done a search on headlights but still have a couple of questions... There is mention in a few posts about cleaning the reflectors. What should I use to do this or more importantly, is there anything I should avoid using!? I guess you have to take the headlights out to do this. How much of a pig of a job is this? What bulbs do I need for a Jap import ('91 NA) for the dipped headlight. Already replaced the main beams. Cheers David
