i know the oil pressure gauge and boost gauge and temp gauge are not the most accurate instruments in the world but when i start my zed ( manual jap TT) the oil pressure is strong when the engine gets up to temp and im ticking over the pressure is nearly off the bottom of the scale , levels and oil condition seem fine when on boost or revving, then the oil pressure comes up to strong again , is this normal that the oil pressure drops right off at tickover when up to temp ?? or is there something sinister going on under the bonnet steve

im new to the 300zx i have a 200sx at the moment but would love to get the 300. But as a newbiee i dont no much, well actually anything about these beasts. Are they reliable ? Are there many problems with the turbos, as i would expect that they are quite expensive to fix? What sort of speeds 0-60 could i expect from a non-turb?

brakes binding! any suggestions for a quick fix. Put the car in the garage for a new bearing, {which they couldn't do(?)} and then a couple of days later the brakes started to bind.

I got some advice from zevans a while ago- And I am looking for someone to expand on this a bit. I rev my engine a bit... but I always think oh shit I don't want to knacker it WAY before I get close to the red line. How far can I rev in 1st or 2nd? I am probably still thinking like I'm in my driving instructors civic here, so excuse me for being utterly clueless, but I feel I am not keeping the revs in the 'power band' properly, if that's the right expression. Usually I change gear from third to fouth about 40 mph as the revs go up to about 3 and a half to four. I would say it is not often I let the revs creep over 4. I doubt that counts as revving …

I wonder if anyone can advise on this. I tried to use the headlamp washers today (Only had the car 6 months and this is the first time i've used them:D ). Obviously I had the headlamps on, but the washer jets did not work and the windscreen wipers came on instead:confused: There was no water being squirted from anywhere??? The wash/wipe system works ok, so why not the headlamp washers. Could it be the relay? Any ideas?? Thanks Richard

I did the low beam conversion so I can use H3 bulbs, drivers side went like clockwork, but the passenger side gave me a load of problems. Screw to attach new earth lead came out, and I could not get another one in. I attached an earth lead to the loop at the end of the bulb retaining spring with solder and insulation tape...........works great, cant wait to see if they are any better. I used Bosch Zenon SB bulbs from Halfords, £8 each John

Took it down to ZedWorld today, 320 mile drive, didn't miss a beat, purred down the motorway, didn't use as much fuel as I had feared. Just a shame it was so DAMN WET! Still, when it comes back with new timing belt, water pump etc etc, I will at least be a bit more confident about giving it some stick ;)

HELP it's doin my head in my power steering seems to go heavy then light when cornering, have done a search on here and read all the replys?. but I have an apexi multi checker wired in and that tells me the speed sensor is ok, new speed convertor fitted a few weeks ago -- got it from Luke, heres the part where I'm stuck the speedo has an intermittent fault on it -- some times it doesn't work. Question does the speed sensor signal get split into 2 signals after the speedo I.E. 1 signal into the speedo then 1 out to the ECU and 1 out to the powersteering. I think the problem is speedo related but would like any other opinions. Pete:)

I ordered a gasket for my autobox oil pan (n/a import) after 2 months the Nissan dealer called me and said the part was in. I went down, and he handed me a steel oil pan....the idiot ordered the wrong part. But the pan had a drain plug in it, which leads me to believe it was for a UK version. Unless jap replacement pans have a drain plug. He is still trying to check it out. In the meantime, does anyone know if this mod was made to import pans? Thanks John

Pls Help I have noticed over the past few days that my autobox in Drive mode seems to be slipping (Does not acc that quick), but if I use the box as a manual ( selecting postion 1 then into 2 and so on ) the car seems to have more power to the rear wheels. Does this mean that my box is on the way out. I have done a autobox test and no fault codes are showing up it says all clear. I did think that the clutches within the box may be slipping but I would have thought that these would also slip when I use the box as I said above. I just hope that it is not going to cost much if something is on its way out as I have just spent out on a new exhaust system…

Hi everyone ! Many thanks for the reply to my annoying rattle from the rear of the car ! You were right, as it had sat for quite a while the bushings etc were like dust,,,gave them a good spray and hey presto, no noise! Hope it stays that way but pricing anyway from breakers etc just to be safe,,,they were REALLY DRY ! :-( On a different note , just lost my heater blower this morning. I see no blown fuses but the climate control and the digital clock are dead,, Question is where can I get my hands on a shop Mnaual for an 88 300 zx fairlady?? It would be so handy as I dont have any experience with these cars at all ! Many thanks, and by the way the check for members…

following the destruction of my auto box my dealer has offered to share responsibility and is willing to stump up 50% of the costs - very fair since I've had the car a year. However the specialist he's taken it to quotes £1400.00 to rebuild plus the cost of new oil cooler. Sounds expensive to me so can anyone give me an indication of what it has cost and/or where I may get it done cheaper. I live in southampton. Thanks guys :)

Right guys, Im trying to get insured for an import Z TT. Im 33 - 5years NCB, no points. Driveway at night. no accidents blah de blah How come all the people are telling me its gonna be at least £810 Surely there are some companies out there who will insure imports for less. If I cant find a good quote soon Im gonna have to bite the bullet, pay extra and get a UK model. I cant afford to do classic insurance as you need another car and limited mileage. Tesco want bloody trackers fitted along with CAT 1 alarms. Adrian Flux want an extra £350 a year if the car has a bodykit and different wheels. Im seriously thinking of getting a UK spec one,…
