General Discussions - 300ZX Related

The zed is fitted with a kmh->mph converter chip on the speedo. It is causing the steering to go lighter and the autobox is all over the place. Yesterday I disconnected the whole cluster and we tried it out, now the autobox was shifting much better but still a little late, but after a minute or 2 the steering went dead heavy, but went normal again after turning off and back on, maybe thats because the cluster is disconnected. Im not sure. I found this last night (i think it was vijay who posted it, cant find it again though, doh!) and it is wired up differently to ours. Help guys!! I was installing the 1990-91 Nissan 300ZX Z32 Turbo White Face Glow Dials of E-Bay. After realising that the gauges didn't fit, I put the old ones back on. Now the Temp needle and rev needle does not work!! I thought this would just automatically re-ajust its self, but i was wrong. Can anyone help?? Paul

Hi- does anyone have experience of these? If so, what are the benefits? I have a apxi safc (for twin maf set-up)& avcr to be fitted eventually, will a wideband sensor work with this? What state of tune is it suited to? all advice appreciated

Some time back a nice man put a note under the windscreen...he'd seen a lady reverse into the front of my zed...and he'd be a witness to the fact should there be any damage/claim so my garage put the zed up in the air and looked under the bumper...it was split and had cracked where it's mounted to the slam bar and a few bits n bobs were bent all exactly where the man described it being struck...so i filed a report with the police who have now traced the owner who first denied being there at all but faced with a detailed description from my witness the police have given her a written warning and supplied me with all her details so do i a) hand it over to my insurers?…

Can anyone tell me anything about lambo doors on a zed? does anyone do em? Is there a DIY kit? Has anyone done them? What sort of costs are involved? Cheers Pete :duffer:

has anyone here sprayed there rocker covers?? i know there made of alluminium and theres some heat in these engines so what primer and paint should i be using, would love to have them blue!!

I'm due to change my front pads this week. I still have stock discs and cant afford to uprate at the mow. So which are the best pads at the moment. I hear the new ebc red stuff are pretty good? Cheers. Nick

Hi- I saw 2 zeds within minutes of each other. A Grey one on Hamilton Rd, Motherwell (I think UK model) and a Silver import in the Park this evening. (I was in a red SWB TT.)

Hi all, What with the nice weather yesterday :eek: and having the chance to have the targas out, i finally decided that i need the microwave module for my alarm as i cant lock and arm the car with the roofs out as the previous owner had ultrasonics fitted :headvswal . So does anyone know if the ultra sonics can be removed and the microwave module added and at what sort of price?? Cheers all, Ant

Engine died on me the other day and would not restart for 20 mins ,then for only a few mins, Today started ok a few times then just cut out all together ...Please Help :confused:

it was pointed out to me today that my fuel pump should not be constantly running as it is at the mo anyone got any ideas what it could be? fuel pump relay or control unit cheers kev

Anybody installed on of these switches in their car and still has th wiring diagram? The wires came off them today and i cat get then back on in the rigt order without affecting my car lights, ive either got no lights, jus high beam or If I turn the lights off by the norma switch they still stay on. I cant find the bloomin instructions as i installed the button ages ago.

Red heading West on the M3 between the Farnborough and Bracknell junctions, about 9:30am. White heading Sounth on the M6, between 11am and 12:30 and somewhere between the M5 and Manchester junctions- bit vague as I've got a crap memory... Both looked fairly standard, not that I could spot much travelling at a relative speed of about 160mph :mac1: I wasn't in a Zed that day- my girlfriend refused to spend 5 hours in it, and reckoned it would break down. Oh how little faith... :D Mark

Some of you may have read my thread last sunday re: her in doors kirbing me nice chrome alloys. :cry: Anyway thats all sorted now...I bought her a nice new mountain bike yesterday...So she's no need to drive the Zed anymore...And she might loose a bit of weight. :hyper: On monday night my zed developed a new problem, a squeeking noise each time i excelerated...Mmmmm whats this a wondered...Its been doin it all week. Hi guys, Looks like my winscreen wiper jets are sh@gged. Have been using wire and flushing them out but they still dont spray very well. Nothing wrong with the hosing tho...water flows through that no problem. Anyone know if you can get better heads fitted?? Cheers, Dan :cool:

My car is running fine, BUT if i give open her up, then shut off, she backfires like hell...... Sometimes, followed by a very strong smell of petrol. The car seems to run fine at other times, if anyone could help me out, id be very grateful manual twin turbo jap, case you need it

Not sure of too many details beyond that. I was heading southbound towards A603 junction into Cambridge, you were headed north towards Girton interchange / A14 just northwest of Cambridge.

I took the top off OK (which for me is a major achievement) but when I put it back, I couldn't work out whether the little black clip things on the lid (arrow on the right) should go over the white lugs on the reservoir body (arrow on the left). It isn't easy to twist the lid and I don't want to force it too hard. Have I managed to get the lid on OK or only partially? Thanks - Gio

Oh no blue smoke. When idling there is no smoke at all. When i floor it no smoke also. When crusing say 60mph and i lift of the gas and then press it again i get a ploom of blue smoke. Comes from both exhausts and only does it when doing 40 plus. Also yesterday i turned the engine of without using the turbo timer and then 5 mins later started it and big blue ploom came from both exhausts. Had a decat exhaust put on friday and geoff at zedorld showed me the turbos, no oil or anything nasty there. He put on brand new pcv valves so i wouldnt have thought it was that either. Any ideas guys :cry:

Looks like I have a Leak from the Power steering Rack. Is this a servicable part or will it need to be entirely replaced ?
