General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I need a little help... I have a 300zx and its running rich... loads of black soot over the exhaust and drinks more than it should.. I think it started after i changed the exhaust and go the decat put on (maybe something to do with loss of back pressure - could that be a reason) Will a Conzult test sort out the problem and get it running right again? I am getting an airfilter and grounding kit for it - should i fit these before doing the test? Cheers Z Man

every time it rains over night, i start my z and it will not go over 3-4000 revs it will drive and if i drive about for a while it sometimes sorts it self out.my first thought was wet air flow meter but when i checked it was all dry.has anyone else had the same problem? any ideas would be appreciated.

Anyone know how to locate a leak in my air con so I don't have to pay a specialist god knows what an hour to find it ? CheerZ Paul

Hi All Not been working hard on the car recently as I bought a daily runner to use while getting the Z fixed. However, put the engine back in a few weeks back and that seems to be running good. Also, nearly finished painting the rusty rear panel which I should hopefully finish at the weekend. Exhaust is still blowing a bit which shouldn't take too long to weld up hopefully for the MOT. However, I'm having clutch problems. The pedal had gone pretty low the day before the turbos blew, which I'd though at the time must be due to fluid leakage. Forgot all about it and took the engine out, did the work and put it back in again. I've pressure bled the lines with …

I have just got my Z and am loving every second of it. I had the car up on the ramps at work to check the underside and the condition of the exhaust. Please excuse my ignorance but I am wondering what the smaller pipe that joins the large diameter pipe on each side is? Am I correct in thinking that it is something to do with the turbos? If so how do you go about replacing the exhaust? Thanks all!

hi i just picked up my 300zx tt manual thats an import . i am new to this car and have no mechanical experience and very little knowledge towards this car but am eager to learn. i have loads of questions to ask but here are just a few if anyone could help : 1.The car has an evc installed ( which i believe is a fancy boost controller???) can anyone shed any light on this and would the car have had to have been chipped to use it ? 2. what boost pressure can i run safely (my gauge is in kg/cm2) 3.the cars oil gauge is reading very low but i have no tapping knocking or smoke from the car are the gauges usually duff or should i get this checked out? …

Help, first I can't get 300zx.org.uk to work to find a fitting guide for my Apexi BOV's. Secondly regardless of that I believe I know what I need to do but can't seem to find anyway to get to the rear bolts on the recirc's? I could probably get in there if the fan would come out but that wont come out because of the oil cooler in the way. I really don't want to move the cooler as it would probably mean draining oil etc... Any suggestions?

Hey Forum, As you may or may not know my car is on the ramps right now getting a full energy suspension master bushing kit fitted. I decided to diary this process to give honest feedback as to the kit itself and the results gained. Note my car is a JDM spec auto in light tune state:- (Mines 'light tune' ECU, Air filter, Stillen intercoolers, HKS ALC, Blitz Boost Controller running 13.5psi. Stock exhaust. No Dyno run as yet so maybe 330ish HP?) I am deliberately not upgrading my dampers and coils with this work as I want to assess different mods one at a time. I've been looking for a 300 zx for a while now and finally found what looks like a good one but the numbers showing the mileage are not in line like i think they should be; is this normal?? please help cheers, martyn

When either one of my front electric windows are down about half way they rattle everytime i go over bumps. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a cure? Cheers

Does anyone know what would be the easiest way to get a line in 'headphone' type socket into my car stereo system? My new phone has a headphone type jack socket and I want to be able to plug it into the car stereo and play the music on the phone in car. I have a cable just need somewhere to plug it in! How do I fix my leaky power steering hoses anyone? Its leaking from the hose with the hydraulic fittings..the one that goes down from the back of the power steer pump down the side of the alternater..I have tried to tighten them but it just twists the hose and leaks even more..im stumped..its difficult to get to ..Can I fix this myself? or is it a shop job? I have the use of the neighbours great tool set!! any help would be great!! thanks:)

Hi, im looking for some Veilside C1 skirts and C1 rear apron, I cant get hold of nemesis performance despite numerous amounts of phone calls and emails which dont get answered. Ive tried other dealers but they all seem to use nemesis as their suppliers and they all say orders are backing up because no one can get hold of them. Right, have thrown the 6x9 idea out of the window. So not going to fit them, just too big. Current front OEM speakers are 16.5mm iirc. Now will getting 17cm speakers be ok? I want them to fit behind the standard grilles and in the standard frame. Will this be possible? Ta
