i have 1992 Z32 manual. looking at various upgrades. boost controller, turbos, induction, de-cat. what would be a good ECU buy? i see zedworld do one, Get Greddy also do an upgrade to current ECU. Are these any good? Heard that if i upgrade turbos and injectors in future would have to pay to upgrade ECU again. Would i be better off buying a proper ECU? Especially as was hoping to get bits fitted. Then tuned on rolling road to fine tune ECU. Is this worth doing? Would i get more horses from a proper ECU? Any of you guys got any experience of ECU's? Regards Mez

I dont know if anyone else has ever noticed this... Switch the car into O/D off (so the light is on) Accelerate from 0 going through the gears...1 is ok 2 to but sometimes revs a bit high even though youre not poking it 2-3 the car seems to hestitate and want to brake even though you havent put your foot off the gas, then it starts to pick up again but not much until you give it some more.. it happens also with O/D on (the light off) if you floor it just from 0 but its more noticable with the od off.. anyone got any ideas on this? feels rather weird and unnecessary (I wonder if i have got everything that can go wrong with a zx on my car?!)

right cleaned my filter today, with the recharger pack, sprayed it librally with the celaner left it to soak, re covered it with cleaner again, then cleaned with water again, left it to dry out in the sun rest of day, sprayed it with oil, went round it twice left it a while now, cleaned all the pipework and such that came out, cleaned the intake bay. should i leave this filter off till tomorrow now for the oil to soak in completely? after cleaning there were no white spots of pure clean filter it was still a dark colour(please dont tell me it needed more cleaning) this only has to do another week then i can get my aplexi filter.

GRRRRRRR - I'm so cross I could crush a grape! Went online to get a car insurance quote for my other car - Altezza RS200. Got a quote for £510 - thought not bad so called up to pay. They asked me if I had any accidents in the last 5 years and I said No... but then they asked even if not my fault - well about a year ago I was coming back to the car with some shopping and watched an old git in a scabby old farmer volvo make a 1 inch scratch on my pristine condition Altezza. As this was the only mark on the entire car I took his registration and details (luckily a chap also saw the scratch and offered to be a witness). I spoke to my insurance company and they…

went to a breakers yard and had a snoop about. was looking for injector connections for my new ecu for the GTti. but there were so many cars in today that i cut off hundreds of the buggers! found 2 old VW's with connectors that you just press the wire spring rather than having to 'unpick' it from the connector in the deepest of dark places. the internal contacts come out by pressing the metal tab with a jewelers of small terminal screwdriver, and just drop them into the 'new' connector body, looks so much tidier now and there are no broken ones! i must have got about 12-15 of them plus loads of jubilee clips and brake pipe fittings and crap for £3! anyone…

:headvswal Could anyone tell me if it's OK to use Aviation fuel rather than Optimax on a TT. The cats have been removed so no problems there. Normal Aviation fuel is 100 Octane low lead, but I remember some years ago a guy filling up jerry cans to be used on a racing powerboat with a Chevy engine blown to 15 psi..... Biggest problem I can see is that the nozzle won't fit in the filler cap!

does the odometor on the car go up to 5 or 6 figures? I've seen a newly imported 90 model advertised with 32k km on the clock and wondered if its gone round the clock or not? Seems incredibly low miles even for an import.

After picking my car up from Nissan this morning, I decided to have a look at the MAF unit, (which they reckon is faulty) and I noticed that one of the bolts that holds my Apexi filter to the MAF was missing, so it is possible that air could have been entering under the gasket. Could this cause the car to run very poorly, or would it not make much difference?

Hi guys I have brought a set of De-cat pipes off GetGreddy. To fit a UK TT '93 manual. Can i fit them without removing the gearbox? I have managed to remove the heatsheilds off the passenger side pre-cat, JUST. It looks really tight to unbolt from turbo. If you can remove. Do i need to remove O2 sensor first? Then unbolt from turbo, or can i remove as one lump? Plus, the O2 sensors do you have to use the correct tool? I am also fitting a Profec B, which while removing loads of bits to get to has allowed me good visibility to O2 sensors. Regards Kevin :duffer:

i have a problem on my jap 92 N/a idle. Starts on the button every day and tick over is usually about 800rpm but every so often (getting worse) goes upto about 1800rpm and sits there, engine can be cold or hot and will sit at a constant 1800 rpm from anywhere between 2 mins and 30 mins and then will return to a constant 800rpm. Anyone give me a few pointers on where to start? cheers

Got vibration through car, it's not very bad but enough to be noticed and make high speed driving uneasy. It's definately coming from the back end and i've had the wheels balanced which seems to have reduced it. I know the car has had a recent prop shaft bearing but there is also a note on a previous service record that the prop shaft was suspected. To test, the prop shaft was removed and the car towed at 50mph - no vibration, prop shaft refitted - vibration present. Result - prop shaft worn. I don't see how the prop shaft can be worn as it runs on a bearing and the bearing is new. Are there any other bearings? Could it be something else?
