General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I'm in the process of upgrading the speakers in my Zed. Now I'm fitting some neat and subtle Pioneer 6x9s in the door cards. But I also want to replace the rear speakers. Now I took the grille off and what I expected to see was a set of 6x4s. Instead, there's some kind of chassis there and round speakers are in place. Anyone know if these were on a model change? Wanting to know what size the speakers are, they are Bose ones, so can only assume they've been fitted since the car was new. I think they are 15cm, but cannot be sure, looks like I need to take out some of the trim to get it out.

I've found the source of a top end rattle when the engine is warming up. If I disconnect the nearside VVT solenoid connector the rattle disappears, when I re-connect it the rattle stays gone for the rest of the day. How do these solenoids work and are they easy to change?

...My zed has developed a sloppy gear lever. Now, it's just suddenly happened, so not sure if it is the bushes that have gone. Could it be anything else? It's just from side to side movement, up and down movements are fine. Any ideas as to what it is? Also, my tailgate rattles and squeeks around. When you shut it, it never feels like it's shut properly. Is there a way of adjusting this? Ta

after a previous post, i understand that the UK 300ZX is restricted to 150 mph.. how do you remove this? is there a chip for the ECU or what.. how much too

hi swaping my steerig wheel with aftermarket one got old one off and took off hicas switch fitted new wheel and boss now hicas light on all the time is there something else i need to do like fitting a eliminator? Or will it be ok to drive it like this?

As I am still a relative new boy and have never seen the Users handbook, I have the following question ?? Is there a light sensor on my car which affects the dash board lighting ?? In other words is there a sensor which stops the dash lighting up in daytime ??

91 Auto import, Gear lever no longer unlocks when I dab on the brake pedal as normal, suspect duff switch or maybe fuse. Where is the location of brake switch????? and is it easy to get to???? Thanks

The Carfax reports looks super clean. VIN#JN1CZ24D4TX580279 I called Stillen yesterday, gave them the VIN & 96-102 #. All they could tell me was that Santa Fe Nissan sold it here in the U.S.. Called that dealership to see if they had record of it, waiting to here from them. The State's Dept Motor Vehicles has an entry on the report on 5/2005 so I'll call them Monday. The car is allegedly in the U.K. & the person couldn't register it so I'm very suspect. i went to get my oil pressure sender fitted this morning,i was going to fit it in the blanking plug to the left of the oil filter but foun there was already a pipe plumbed into that point is that normal on a uk spec z? or has someone possibly had a gauge in before and removed it but just blanked the pipe somwhere thanks for any help in advance kev

what is the top speed? arnt they restricted to 150 ish? if so whats the top speed when de-restricted? and how do u go about doing it?

Noticed that the boot that protects the suspension strut has perished on two corners of the car, anyone know if its much of a job and/or much money and time to sort. Is it something that should be sorted straight away or is it minor? cheers in advance Dave

need to find a bulb for my car for tomorrow.. anyone like halfords or motorcare etcc stock a suitable one? the codes on the rims say .. h5g 12v 55w anyone? i have a motorcare, halfords, motorworld and a very good place called ABD aber brake and clutch that carry bulbs. is there something i can put in and have done?

I just put 130w bulbs in my fogs, had to put a 30amp fuse in instaed of the stock 15 as it blew straight away. They look great and bright as fook, Am i safe or asking for melted lights and/or an electical fire? :rolleyes:

Hi all Whats the best way to disable your engine from starting for a few seconds to allow the oil pressure to come up. I only use my car at weekends and it always catches immediatley and revs to 1500 rpm for a few seconds. This must cause wear if the engine is not run for a week. Any ideas? I don't mind disconnecting something temporarily but it must be easy to get at and not throw up ECU errors.

sorry for my ignorance but here we go i have fitted an apexi filter to my 92 N/A and i was expecting a different sound than the standard box but sounds the same i think i read that updating the re-circ valves would change the tone. is this right ? I have a gurgling sound from my nearside wing and i have been told that this is the re- circ valve probably with a cracked case cheers
