General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I bought some replacement glow gauges a while back, and I was wondering what the process would be like of taking the dash off and revealing the stock gauges so that i can slip the new ones over? I believe they go ontop of the old ones. Here is a picture. How might I go about installing these? On a 1991 NA 2+2? Would I have to drop the steering column? Which parts of the dash must i remove? I'd like some help! Im pretty new to this kind of thing. If you need anymore information about what im doing just ask so you can better give me advice. Hello all, i am trying to wire up my amp, but i cant find an inlet to take the positive/power wire form the battery into the cabin to connect to the amp there must be a little inlet or something so that i can take the wire through from the engine bay into the cabin. :headvswal Any ideas where this could be?

First i would like to say hi and before anyone thinks original user name, i have had it for years as i am a eZX primera P10 enthusiast and run a rare UK development 4x4 sr20det with 310bhp@ FW. With this being off the road for a while a bought an immaculate 91 NA, 47k with some jap service history and uk service history. One thing is that i paid 3k for her (private) which seemed a lot. I was looking for months and although they start for a grand, tt`s as well it seemed this was what you had to pay for an A1 NA and 5-6k + for an A1 TT. Hello all i have just purchased a front strut brace off of the internet. It came today :dance: and ive just come to fit it to find that the fuel lines from the IAA valve i think :rolleyes: are in the way. Does anyone know a way round this or do i have to buy some braided hoses? Thanks for any help you can give me! I wanted this on ready for the 19th march meet :cry: :cry:

what is the minimum allowance on a compression test on a uk z tt tis for bird he is doing a compression test and needs to know what the minimum is-that is ok

I have fitted my informeter and have a few questions ...more like looking for advice. Ignition advance at WOT is 21/22 degrees ( 15 at idle ) Injecter timing at WOT is 17ms for both banks. For me to up the boost the Ignition advance is good but where can I push it to safely without DET? ( I mean if I up the boost at what degrees would it show if it was detting, have heard that you watch this to see if it retards the timing when it dets then back off on boost ) What injecter timing should I not be going above?

Just a thought of fiiting harness setup in my Zed. Can i use the original seats as they have a gap between headrest and seat body.Also how do i secure the the harness?Can i use a mounting from the rear belts or something? Thanks

I might have found a set of UK spec clocks, but what I need to know is will a UK spec series 1 fit a jap spec series 2. Cheers.

Right guys last help request for the day lol. I am definately going to look at a 300zx tomorrow. It is a fooking age away so I want to check if I can that I will actually fit in one. I am 6'6" tall and quite hefty too :duffer: so I know only too well how wasted a journey can be to find out that I can't get my legs in lol. Triple gauge installation in the centre console. How easy is it to see them there??? Would the A-post be a better place??? Cheers Phil

Boost gauge is now fitted and it seems that im only boosting to around 7psi. The car is not in safety boost, well no error codes anyway. Possibly a leak somewhere. Getting a compression test done tonight so hopefully it'll not be an expensive thing :(

I have just been out in my Z and while I was going along in 3rd the slowed down to take a turning, there was a loud gurgling and popping noise from un burnt fuel coming from the zorsts I only notice it so bad when slowing down?? Can anybody advise on this before I take it to Z Tech and get them to have a look. I have cleaned the CTS but not the injectors as they look like a right barseward to get at. Dear fellow Zed owners, My car is going in to have the auto box looked at very soon. I had it re-built almost a year ago. As the warrantee is about to run out, I want to make sure its running 100% right. But having never driven, or been in another auto zed I've got nothing to compare it with. Mine seems to slip a bit, and be generally, fairly boring (I know your going to say get a manual conversion, but that’s not an option at the moment). I don't know if this is normal performance or not. Hi I have polished bits in my other cars engine bay, but have noticed that they have began to rust :mad: :mad: :mad: They way I did it was to use very rough paper and then get gradually smoother until I got to a shiny finish. When I was happy with the way it looked, I used heat resistant lacquer to seal them. As they are now looking pretty dire, I am going to do them again, as well as doing a couple of bits on the Z. What I was wondering is, what is the best way to seal these parts after polishing?? As stated, last time I used an aerosol lacquer, I am now considering translucent powder coating instead.
