General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Howdy guys. I was just wondering what my options were with regards to Air Filters ? I have put K&N's on cars before, but to be honest I aint even looked at the filters on me 300 yet, only had her a few days :) Do these cars have two filters ? and you you recommend say K&N over PiperCross ? or are there forced cold air kits you would recommend I spend me money on? it wont rev or drive past 2500, im assuming that that is my maf can someone clarify this for me

My car has one of Luke’s converters and the Speedo and steering is fine (in the paperwork with the car was Luke’s simple instructions for wiring in the converter, so I guess that it was done properly). My problem is that when I connect Datascan, the car is sending it KM/H rather than MPH, really frustrating as to do say a 0-60 speed test, I have to set Datascan to KM and do a 100 KM/H test, is there anyway that I can change this to MPH?

Hi All, I'll start with a brief history. Bought a Jap import NA last September - had it 3 weeks and some dozy sod wrote it off for me!!! Bought the car back off insurance and bought new wing and sidelight from AndyZ (excellent service). Well i think i have . Driving around town yesterday and i heard what i can only describe as a tinkling sound from the plenum area then suddenly it started to missfire. So i pulled over and the car started to run fine again.Then the dreaded cam knock started along with the missfire which only lasted about 30seconds and went again. Anyone had this happen to them? Help and advice appreciated. Steve.

On the series two onwards, the steering wheel was given the option of an air-bag, so does this mean that the same, updated, wheel was also available without an air-bag, or did they revert back to the old series one version? (if you see what I mean?) Series One >> Series Two >> TIA Dave

I am attempting to fit a new stereo in my car, but when I plugged the ISO connector in, i heard a funny whirring sound and a pop, and now my permanent 12v feed is only supplying .09 volts, it cant be a fuse blown or it wouldnt show anything, anyone got any ideas??? Scotty

Hi Just fitted my beatifully refurbished alloys (AVS bought from Mantav8) & they look absolutly stunning- bit worried about clearance of fronts to calipers tho. There is approx 3mm between caliper (Alloy type) & inside of wheels- is this sufficent- how much do they expand when hot? Hope you experts can advise wether need to fit a 3mm spacer! Regards Dave

ive developed a stalling problem today and being new to these superb cars i wondered if anyone might have a clue.it only happened twice but it was when she was hot and switching from drive to reverse it run very lumpy then cut out but restarted straight away no worries.then sitting in loads of traffic i put her in neutral then when i selected drive she tried to cut out for a split second.every now and then she ticks over a slight bit lumpy but nothing to worry about but 95 % of the time shes spot on .any ideas.

Was going northbound on the A12 and near the Stratford St Mary turn off (just after Colchester). I was going the other way so didn't see the reg, but it did have a standard rear spoiler. Anyone here? Gaz

Theres buttons in the car and I dont know what they do, and just wondered if this was available on the public domain anywhere, am tryin to cram as much education in as poss as me cars not performing correctly (0-60 in 7 secs despite full boost) Cheers in advance. Hi Guys I picked up my Z (300ZX fairlady) yesterday. She’s beautiful. Pictures to come. There are a few small things I want to ask though. 1) The most important thing is that the speedo isn’t right. When my speedo shows 40mph I’m actually going about 50mph and it get worse as I go up in speed. As it was an import I’m guessing that it was in Km, but the dial now shows mph with km on the inside. Do you think this has anything to do with it? 2) I can’t get cruise control to work above 55ish mph. But given the problem in 1) I’m probable driving at about 70mph. 3) After a very long run, there appeared to be a leak from the very front on the right hand side. …

Just recently i,ve been getting the old smoke on tickover problem, but it,s only a quick waft of smoke and then it,s gone :confused: Now today i removed my hard pipes (which are Stainless ones ) on the n/s which is the side that smokes occasionaly , am i right in thinking , if the tub seals were on there way out i would have a coating of oil or at least some dirty looking coating on the insides of the hard pipes as mine are still clean and shiny ??? Am i right in thinking It,s gotta be my PCV valves, hopefully :hyper: Also it,s sprung a water leak , seams to be coming from behind and below the n/s throttle body and dripping down onto the a/c pump but can,t see wh…

From the pic, if you have a look at the highlighted section of the three bolts shown, would i be able to attach a custom tow eye to this part of the section would it be able to handle the weight of the zed when it has to be towed on to a recovery truck It looked pretty tough when i looked and inspected it

I just change my fuel filter today and also change the pipe going from it. It had a sleeve on it which I took off to put on the new one only I can't get it on! Just wondering what it is for and if it is really necessary to put it back on? Thanks.

so sorting my spoiler brake light and few other bits out found the following loom disconnected, should i reconnect? whats it 4? behind passenger side rear speaker encloser in boot, by the rear seat if u reach through the enclosure. has 3 wires red, brown and yellow with white connector. my zeds uk tt, 99spec rear lights, etc just wondering what this is 4 thanks guys n gals

Hi, I am brand new 2 the 300ZX world..... yesterday in fact! :nana2: & am very excited!!! But..... I have a small question. There is a red HICAS light on, on the dash. Now, i believe this has sumthing 2 do with the traction/power 2 wheels? Question is, Why is the light on, what r the dangers & what do i need 2 do 2 put right??? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Alan.
