General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I have done a search but can't find a lot of info on this. The noise is a quite loud mechanical clicking coming from the dashboard area above the main vents. It will click 4/5 times then stop for 10 seconds and repeat. As you can imagine this is quite irritating. :headvswal I think I have found a way to stop it, by having the fan on and directing the air to my feet (series II climate control). But this is not a permanent solution. can anyone shed any light?

The missus spotted a black Zed on the QMC roundabout in Nottingham. She thought the reg was K68? ???. Anyone on here? Ivan

My zed is poorly, was on the mainland yesterday when develooped the mother of all mis-fires!! She sounds like a bloody V8 and the idling is VERY lumpy I have absolutely no knowledge at all of the zed engine, so i have no idea what would be causing it, please can one of you genius's throw some suggestions my way. Hi mate, when you had Martins car and pulled the engine you done a water bypass. Do you remember (long time back) if you removed/bypassed the EGR too. Just thinking of doing it and not sure exactly where it is but some say when water bypass are done the egr sometimes is too. Cheers

can you just unscrew this out and put another in without losing too much water? just wondered whether itsd a real quick job or you have to drain coolant system first?

guys need your help asap, zed was all good until two days ago when i turn my ignition on the fuel pump doesnt come on at all but if i attach a direct feed from the batt or fuel pump relay plug to fuel pump it will come on at full 12v & not cut off etc, only problem is it will stay on even if ignition is off all components are ok including fuelpump ecu as ive tryed another one & relay so any suggestions/help appreciated

Just wanna check, read about some bleed nipples on the abs actualtor. Is this the block in the boot??? and are these done first or last? Cheers Mark

Howdy guys. Well I should be getting a 1990 Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo AUTO tomorrow, straight swap for my Kawasaki ZX-9R Ninja motorbike. I was wondering can anyone tell me what to expect with the 300ZX TT ? I have had fast cars before, Calibra Turbo, GT Four ST 185, Porsche 944, Nissan 200SX, etc etc. My mates got a Subaru WRX which he paid £2700 for, he thinks its a rocket on wheels, granted its quick off the deck but didnt impress me after 90mph. Will he annhilate me on the road being an Auto ? or will the 300ZX remain the straight line champ ? Also anything to look out for with it being auto i.e. dont kick down in wet, on a bend etc, would …

i know somebody who is selling one for 120 quid. 1.is this the right price. 2.What else do i need to fit this to my car. Like do i need a new ECU ect? As you can guess i hate electrics! i was only thinking of running .8 or .9 bar anyway... any help appreciated.

...just started happening for no apparent reason :confused: my Blitz DSBC-R has always been set to a gain of 15 and a ratio of 47 (and a limit of 1.05 bar). recently ive noticed ive not been hitting my boost limiter which i usually do when i boot it. quite noticeable that im not boosting as well as i used to. ive recently had a boost leak sorted too :confused: ive been playing with the controller, making sure there's no sillies like a scramble boost of -100. ive even been setting the ratio to much higher than normal :eek: but im still only maxing out at between 9-11 psi. the unit is giving me a realtime reading - ive had it before where the realtime boost r…

Hi guys, Just picked up the new car and got home about 45 mins ago whilst it was just getting dark, turned on the lights and nothing is working! The exception to this is when you turn the lights knob to standard beam it reacts with Full Beam. Turning the knob to side lights does nothing, no front, no back lights. Pushing the indictator stick forward to turn on high beam does nothing. All other electrics are working fine. I'm guessing when the mechanics were changing the odometer from km to miles they've put the high beam connector onto the regular beam or something. Can anyone advise the location of the connectors so I can check? Any help much apprecia…

Is a series 2 PTU fine for a Jap NA? Do nissian even sell series 1 PTU's anymore... i.e. do i need to ask for a series 2 ptu (do they cost more than series 1?) Have a feeling my car will need one when the garage gets back to me... Cheers Barry...

can to much gearbox oil cause it to smoke on full boost seems to have started doing this after i toped gearbox oil up?

I know people on here must have upgraded the speakers in the doors... What have people had fitted? Did you wire them yourselves? Is there anyone on here who knows a lot about ZX ICE? I don't, but I'd like to ;)

hi everyone when i start my car from cold, and drive it coughs and splutters and basically drives like shite. Now when it gets warm it runs better, but the revs sometimes hold at 2000, a little blip on the throttle and it drops down again it stills coughs and splutters when warm, just not as much as when cold any ideas

anyone know what this could be its only just started doing it

I want to do an oil change but am unsure of what oil to use. I would like an oil with a high detergent level to give the inside a good clean. I would normaly run a week or two with a good diesel oil in but don't want to with this car. Any ideas on oil and what grade to use? Cheers scrawni.

Was it you? I was driving along Drayton way in Daventry and saw a red nissan and thought it was a 200sx. There was what looked like an arm that waved but i only saw out of the corner of me eye so not sure. Oh yeah, I was in a silver Zed.

just got some new brembo discs arrived 2 days after ordering!! yay! good price too, just need to fit em... hope its now too involved, do i need to disconect and blead brake lines or can i keep them on by moving caliper to one side? then unbolting the 4/5 bolts on rear and fit new disc? thx

what are the censors for in between the plug shaft and the head one on each cylinder are they pronr to breaking down mine are cusing me problems ie miss fireing any body come across this before and how was it solved
