i had a problem previously with my starter motor blowing fuses, that was traced and i've had 6 months trouble free starting....... until yesterday... went to start the car and i could hear the starter motor turning but it wasnt engaging.. i tried rocking the car back and forth in gear, but to no avail... i bumped the car off easily and then stopped it to see if that would free it but no joy. i took it for a drive to warm it up but still the same, i can hear it spinning but its not engaging... the battery is absolutely fine, nearly new heavy duty job, i also have a second battery onboard for my install which is also fully charged, so its not the battery... …

I am looking around for my first Z and have found what I think is a really nice N/A. From a performance point of view how does the N/A compare to a Twin T?

I am thinking about getting a 300ZX and wasn't aware there was variable valve timing available on 300ZX engines. On my current Honda Prelude VTEC, the VTEC variable valve timing makes a BIG difference to performance but i expect it is not as noticable on cars with turbos. From what i have heard the Honda VTEC system is the best variable valve timing system on the market and has never had any recorded failures so is the Nissan version anygood/worth having or does it cause problems and is more trouble than it is worth? Does the variable valve timing kick in at a certain rev point like the VTEC system? from what year does the engines have the VVT? how is this shown?

Hi All. My car has started missfiring at higher rpm, anything above 4k. I have since cleaned the maf and ptu connecters, also reset the ecu. It got much better after cleaning the maf but still misfiring loads. I have read other posts that suggest the maf can cause this. Can the car be ran without the maf connected to test this thory or is it 100% needed?

Yo yo and thrice yo I am replacing the tweed in my interior with red vinyl. Getting the knack of it but the t-piece that is inbetween the seats is not regular plastic but fibreboard. And the Evostick timebond stuff i am wont grip to the fibreboad. What else could i use. I think Araldite would be to expensive for the small amount you get.

Just fitted Koyo and stainless pipes, rad has filled ok until bubbles gone etc etc. Drives fine, doesnt over heat but is losing a litre of water every day I drive it. When hot Ive slightly released rad cap to make sure water in system and water/steam comes out, when cooled down needs topping up by a litre or so. Also expansion tank seems to be empty when ever the zed needs topping up. Strange thing is Ive had it sat running for ages waiting patiently for a drop of water to hit the ground under the car.....not a drop to be found :headvswal Car runs and drives fine.....any ideas where the water is going. No hose leaks anywhere that Im aware of, new hoses ch…

Ok, i've rebuilt my complete engine with forged rods and piston, new bearing, new water pump, new oil pump, new gaskets, new belt, new fidanza flywheel, new underdrive pulley, new injectors, new turbos, new cluch, new gearbox... All this were brand new and i did 2000 miles with them. But last month on track, I've got the small hose (return oil fo right turbo) that was cut. So all day, I've been loosing my oil but didn't catch it. At the end of the day, I did a slew round and following this my engine start to make noise. I immediatly stopped it. After I open the crankcase, I figure that rods bearing were completly destroy specialy on rod 1 and 4 (if you start…

here we go again ffs! Car has now developed another fault, was running ok apart from having code 34 and possibly running safety boost so not had full power out of it. But tonight accelarated and the car started to feel rough as hell, first i thought it had a lump of rubber off a tyre or a flat, pulled over the car ticked over ok but felt and sounded like it wasnt running on all cylinders when i reved it up, drove off had reasanable accelaration and speed but sounds more like a v8 dosnt seem to be smoking either but smelt like rubber burning. any idears guys? thanks carl

Thanks to everyone who replied to my previous thread. Everybody seems to be getting lots better quotes than me through the autotrader site, where I can only get insurance down to around £1000! I am using Fairlady as my model, is everybody else? It's just that lots of people have said Elephant and yet when I phoned them they told me they would not insure a Fairlady!! HELP ME!

OK im loosing about 1-2 litres of water per 10 miles. What i think is happening is that the stat is only half opening and loads of pressure is building up. The rad is then overflowing into the expansion tank and thats overflowing into the chassis which is why the water coming out is cold, its a mixture of hot, cold from the expansion tank and cold from the chaais. When i pulled up today i could hear running water like had left a tap on, around the expansion bottle area. It was the sound of water running onto plastic, either the rad into the expansion bottle or the overflow of the bottle on to one of the plastic underbelly trays. After letting it cool down the rad took 2.5…

I booted it today for quite a while on the motorway, and there was lots of smoke coming from under the car. Looked and had gearbox fluid dripping onto the exhaust and smoking. Checked level and it is still full (may even be overfilled, as it is above the hot MAX mark even now). It doesn't do this or seem to leak except when really booting it, although I have noticed a slight wetness under there whenever I have looked under car, probably from when I've booted it before. What do you reckon needs sorting? Thanks in advance for any help. Sepp.

Took a friend out today, who commented that the car was not as quick as he thought it should be, and to be honest I think I agree. Just thought I would let you know as I am a little gutted.

After a fairly long run today I left the zed to idle and cool down. At this point I noticed what can only be described as gurgling from the near side. Went to investergate and have narrowed it down to be coming from under the plastic trim that joins the windscreen. Any Ideas?
