Recently I have noticed that full boost has gone further up the rev range than where it used to be, maybe it's my imagination but I don't know. I'm pretty sure full boost was lower than it is now. I now get full boost at around 4+ to 4.5k is this right or is something amiss or about to go on me  Also, now this may also be my imagination, but my stock recirc valves seem to be louder than they used to be. Are these two ralated or am I getting paranoid ? Where in the rev range do you get full boost ? CheerZ Paul

Hi folks. I'm about to do an engine swap on my TT. The doner engine is from an auto, my car is a manual. Can I transfer the engine and turbo's complete, or should I use my own turbo's and ancilliaries? I know there's some differences between the manual engine and auto engine, but not sure exactly what. Any other related advice would be greatly appreciated for this job. Dave.

  4. Ok.. I've about given up on the idea of getting a model report done. So I spoke to my mate in Japan today and plenty of '95,'96 SWB's around and few Slicktops. So I've given him the task of finding one with under 35K cert. miles on the clock. I Like the idea of getting the more rare Slicktop... but it's a hard decision to give up the benefit of T-Tops on days like we are experiencing now... I've never driven a slicktop... so not sure if I'm making a fuss over nothing.. Do they drive like 2 different cars ??? or can you hardly notice the difference out on the road?? *I do have a Roll bar that I can put into that may add a bit of stiffness?

  5. Hi all, The zed has just failed it's MOT on a number of items including headlight aim (hope the adjusters aren't broken) and steering rack gaitor. The most worrying one however is the fog light. Our car works where the 4 brake lights and side lights work as normal but when the fog light switch is operated, the inner two brake lights are forced on. I believe this is the standard relay installation. The tester failed it because the fog lights were not independant. According to Google, the regulations appear to state that the fog light must not be "adversely affected by the operation of any other lamp". Is the MOT tester wrong or is the relay mod not a…

I am in the progress of modernising me standard 1991 auto n.a. 300zx. I have fitted 19" Vortex R alloys and in the middle of getting my body kit now. Greddy front, wings west sides, stillen rear. Problem 1. My Z looks well high on these 19's and I am scarred of lowering it because once the kit is on it might hit some speed bumps!!!! I have got some 35 lowering springs........would it hit??? Another problem I am having at the moment. When I accelerate hard I am getting a horrible burning smell coming from under the car, what's going on??

I have a spare mint tailgate, that I am about to make a mould from in glassfibre, so that I can then use the buck and play with making a Carbon Fibre replacement. I have a few questions. 1. Before I made the CF tailgate, I would make a GF test tailgate. Would that be strong enough to mount the standard rear glass? 2. Is there a replacement for glass that can be used that won't scratch like perspex? 3. Has anyone tried this before and have any tips or better still - bucks/moulds?

Is the standard nissan brake line thread 3/16? Im looking at the section out of the car that terminates in a male end where the rubber flexi hose joins to go down to the caliper? (I am trying to get an adapter made to convert this into standard thread to finally get my goodridge hoses on.. If i can get a good solution i should be able to get adapters made for anyone with the same problem for a few £)

  13. :headvswal My other half has been out in the Z today (1994 TT 40,000miles). Car has never missed a beat in the 18 months since I imported it. Yesterday had the standard exhaust changed to cat back mongoose system to go with the Apexi air filter that has been on for 2 months. No other mods made.(I assume the engine problem today is a coincidence?) To get to the point all I know is that she was driving the car home tonight on the M6, and apparently there was white smoke coming from the engine and from the exhaust, she says she did not notice it straight away (how does she know that?). Also she says the temperature gauge was at max. She says she was pulling over on the…

Hi guys Im getting my car dyno'd friday so it will be interesting to find out what my car is producing! Peformance wise its stock, what BHP do you think I should expect in a TT Manual? Anyway, what is the maximum bhp/torque the standard clutch can take? How much would a good performance clutch cost? There seems to be a lot of talk about Smithy's RPS clutch which can handle up to 450bhp. Is this correct? How much torque can it handle? More importantly, how much is it fitted and what other costs are involved in changing the clutch? Thanks in advance Colin

  15. I use the car nearly every day for a 40 mile trip to work and it has been fine for quite a few months now. Anyway come to use it on Monday and the revs are way to high and the gear shifts are all over the place (it's an auto). So last night I put the Datascan on it and TPS is reading 0.9v at idle and I cannot adjust it any lower, reset the ECU and it's idling much better but the only adjustments to the TPS I can seem to get are from 0.9v up to about 1.3v at idle. So has my TPS died or is there a chance it's something else. Cheers for any help, Gaz

Seem to be lots of imports (fairlady) out there, these seem to come with no service history are there any other down sides to these.

  20. 2 of my subframe bushes are leaking slightly. There doesn't seem to be any play in the subframe. I've had a good jiggle around when it was up on the ramp. I am planning on replacing them with new ones when I upgrade all the suspension over the winter. Just wondering, are these MOT failures? Or do they have to be hanging off and have as much play as a dick in a bucket to fail? MOT is on Saturday.

"Just like most ground wire kits, power comes from where you ground the wires. We found that grounding near the alternator and spark plugs works great but placing them near crank triggers tends to make power erratic." Found this info while searching the web and wondered if anyone had tried moving round the grounding kits on the zed? I brought my car with one already fitted so no idea where they should be, just wondering what other guys have grounded?

I need your technical advice, Here is the problem: The remote Central Locking has stopped working, I can hear the relay clicking over, but nothing unlocks. The central locking works with the Key from the drivers door, but not from the passengers door, does this indicate that the drivers door motor has lost the will to live  ?

No don't worry!! This is not yet another question asking which oil I should use!! I would just like to ask if anyone has used Valvoline SynPower 5W40 fully synthetic oil, and if so, what they thought of it? I used Mobil 1 15w50 for my first change on this car (since I've owned it), but think it is a bit too thick. Also, I have a feeling that whatever oil was in before I changed it was a different (not as thick) viscosity.
