I've just ordered a Hawk HA-101 Cat 1 alarm and am planning to fit it myself to my new Zed this weekend. The professional installers charge a fortune for fitting them and I am not too interested in getting an insurance reduction, I'm more interested in security, remote central locking, engine immobiliser and a microwave sensor (to help protect my Zed when the Targas are off). Any advice on things to do, or not to do, when self installing? Dave

what is this and how do i remove it? it is attached to the drivers side of the gearbox.

My present Zed is 1990 Jap import manual and, although it is a non-turbo, it has a TT front bumper/spoiler which I think is a great improvement. I am picking up my new Zed on Friday which is a 1995 Jap import manual. It also is a non-turbo BUT it has a non-turbo front bumper/spoiler which looks a bit plain to my eyes. SO, I am planning to replace with a TT version. I am negotiating for one at the moment that is identical to my 1990 version but it has occurred to me that the 1995 version might be different. Would anyone who has a photo of a 1995 TT that shows the ORIGINAL front bumper/spoiler please post it here so that I can judge/compare. Many thanks - Da…

Turned on my windscreen demister earlier and steam started coming throuhj the vents and water was spraying out into the passenger footwell... not good. Is it a simple job to replace? IE can I do it myself or should I just go to my garage.... bloody thing... :rant:

how the f**k do you get the top bolt out of the gearbox. please bare in mind im doing this job by myself and have no help. i have the gearbox supported and all the other bolts out. i can feel the bolt but but cant get the socket over the head whilst at the back of the gearbox

I want to fit my Boost controler. Cant find a faq with pics to help me understand it. Anyone round my way got time to help me out with this.

I have had a problem with my idle which i have nearly fixed. For a while i had to keep my foot on the gas at idle as it was threatening to die on me. I removed the idle air adjusting unit, gave it a we clean inside and cleaned up the connectors. I know have my cold start mechanism and air conditioning compensator back working fine. The problem is my idle wanders every fifteen seconds for five seconds. So, in other words, for fifteen seconds its pretty smooth at 800rpm then it drops for five seconds to between 6-700rpm. I have the TPS set correctly, no faults showing on ECU? Any ideas, what have i over looked? Cheers David

Can anyone help, recently discovered a strong smell of fuel or exhaust gases in side the car BUT only when i really boot it :confused: Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this? Many thanks

i,m buting a zed in the next week and there are so many autos and only a few manuals. thing is i can save alot of money buying an auto but do they perform as well as a manual.....pros & cons??? cheers george

Guys, Does anybody have a tracker fitted to their car? If so does anybody know what the cheapest tracker in the market is that will have a positive effect on the insurance?

Need some advice guys, Currently have an auto TT, but looking to get it converted to a manual. Have got a RPS TT organic clutch already, but in touch with a guy who is breaking a non-turbo Z32. Can anyone tell me if the non-turbo box will fit directly or will I need additional bits. Remember from previous post that the bell housing might be different. thanks ronnie

Just after some advice from people who have painted their timing covers. I will be using heat proof paint. Did you prime them first, what is the best way to get rid of the little scratches in the platic, lastly what's the best way to fill in the factory mounting holes for the PTU? & while I have your attention, what's the easiest way to smooth (not polish) the plenum. I was just going to sand it by hand, is there a better method? Thanks in advance, Jono

Can someone please comment on what the process is of swapping the standard auto gearbox handle to a Razo one. :confused: :confused: :confused: Looked everywhere to get the existing handle off but no joy. I have undone the small screw behind the handle but the damn thing won't budge. :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal Also do I need specialist tools/experience to install the aftermarket Razo or is it simple plug and play. :( :( :( Extremely grateful.

Just got the first bush out with the drill and hacksaw method. The bush came out with a steel cylinder attached, about 3mm thick wall. Still in the subframe is a thinner wall tube which has a lip one end, which has obviously been sawn thro, and a ring of rubber the other end. Question, is this part of the bush or part of the subframe? Ta.

I aquired a laptop from work as a freebee and the screen resolution is sh!t, its a tosiba satellite 4030cds with a bog standard 98 install. The highest resolution I can get is 800x600. It will go higher but I have to move the crappy mouse (in keyboard) to the top and bottom of the screen to 'scroll' it up and down. I have tried updating the driver but makes no difference. Is 800x600 the best I'm gonna get ? CheerZ Paul

I'm just about to take delivery of my second Zed (a Jap import) and would like to keep a proper written service record to let future buyers know its history since import into the U.K. Does anyone know if you can buy blank service books, either 300zx specific or just a universal one? Dave

as i have to work on my car outside i havent been doing much on it for a few days but here is a pic showing the (little) progress i have made. where are the engine mountings as i havent noticed any, not had a proper look yet. cant get the a/c pump off as cant get to the bolts.

geeeeeeeeeezooooooos!!!!!! just my luck!!! supposed to be taking the car to phil at c&s wood tomorow gets in it this mornin and it wont go in gear!!! its been quite difficult recently but i was going to mention this and hopefully get it sorted by phil!!! anyhow it wont go into gear at all now, so im thinkin clutch fluid, ive checked the res. and it was empty filled it up and bled the two nipples there was a bit of air in the system but now just fluid squirting out of the nipples, so i take that it is bled??????? please can someone help i need to get moving so i can take to phil 2moz. :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal
