OK, mujina disabled my hicas by pulling out a connector under the bonnet and putting a little peice of metal in one end of it. This in turn would keep the wheels straight all of the time. Now i am just wondering if this actually makes much difference and is it worth having done or should i reconnect it (so that i have enabled the hicas again) I was just thinking well nissan put it there for a reason, but then i thought well people buy the disabling kit thingies for a reason too. What should i do?

I've got little faults that i would like to get sorted and I'm not sure if the two are connected. Firstly, when I put my foot on the throttle ever so slightly (and I mean slightly) it hesitates really badly. It's hard to describe, it's almost like it's running on 3 and when you put your foot down a bit more the other 3 kick in, it's most noticable when cold as I use as little throttle as possible until it warms up fully. Secondly, I have a fluctuating tickover. Sometimes it's great and just sits there at 750rpm and then other times it pulses anywhere up to 1500rpm, generally it kinda goes between 850 - 1100 but in rythmical pulses like it revs every second. When it …

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Fastrack-Motors_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ0QQftidZ2QQpZ2QQtZkm Anyone used these guys before? Thought it might be useful for some people who've blown engines. Personally I think it is better to spend money on a low milage engine than to rebuild a blown one re-using the parts. I remember a couple of tuners I spoke to when my first Zed blew and they refused to rebuild the engine saying it was safer to source a low milage one. I ignored them and rebuilt it myself but they were proved right when it blew again 3mths later! There's another company that are longer established that do them as well but I can't remember their name off hand?

Been having a weird little problem today, recently i've replaced my 1.0mm boost jets with 0.8mm ones... Have waited till today to give it boot ful as my Z was pulling strong enough without full boost anyway... Was crusing along in 4th Gear and then floored it, the boost built strongly to 18Psi at 4000rpm and then then my Z basicly just cut the boost as if there was some kind of rev limiter there. Carried on driving as normal and everything is ok, still getting plenty of boost at part throttle but nail it in 4th and it just cuts out... It feels like a boost pipe has blown off when it cuts out but all the pipes are fine and secure... You get plenty of boost up until …

I used to have a bad vibration/rattle at low revs when pulling away. And also a bit of vibration at higher speeds. I have personally fitted: - 4 new wheels, all balanced, - Nismo gearbox mount - new Centre Bearing. (The prop was replaced exactly as found.) The top end vibration has gone, but the 'pulling away' noisy bloody rattle remains. It cant be the prop as i'm vibration free all the way up the speed range, just this massive rattle on low revs torque. (i.e. you are moving at speeds where you really should be in 1st but stay in 2nd). Another thing that leads me to the flywheel being warped is that even after a new (well 2nd hand good one, I…

  23. ...ends up costing a tenner! I've had a nasty rattle coming from the centre box of my beloved Veilside exhaust system. Pretty loud and was starting to do my head in! I had thought it was a baffle in the centre box that had somehow broken away from its welds. It was terrible when cold and as the car warmed up would get less. Now, this had been going on for some months now. Had the car up on the ramp, managed to narrow it down to the centre box after giving it a thwack with the palm of my hand. Anyway, had it all booked into Infinity Exhausts to have the centre boxes replaced, like-for-like (sound wise). Up on the ramp, guy asks me, "are you…

Girly alert - I know nothing about mechanics, but I have a strange problem with my 1991 Fairlady Twin Turbo - can any of you experts help please? Car was driving normally this morning. Suddenly, power steering, power to brakes and acceleration failed. POWER warning light came on. Pulled over to side of road and switched off engine. Wouldn't start again although starter motor is turning over normally. I do have an alarm and immobiliser but disabled the alarm with the valet switch. The immobiliser is working normally (I don't even get ignition if that is activating when it shouldn't be.) Called AA. (Engine was cold at this point.) He tested battery, said it …
