Saw you too late to flash, you looked like you were leaving from the furthest exit from the petrol station.

Hi guys. This has been happening for quite some time now and is really starting to take the p*ss. When im driving along and have to shift down, (usually coming towards a junction or roundabout) the car will turn off when im shifting down and the clutch is in, When i let the clutch out it will fire up again. Can anyone shed any light on this because its starting to become a common thing for it to do? Regards Rob

  10. Hi Does anybody know of a wire I can splice into that has 12v when the ignition is turned to the accessory 1 position, ie when the clock illuminates up, and keeps the 12v even whilst the engine cranks over. Everything I have found so far does not keep 12v whilst the engine cranks over. Thanks Colin

I wonder if anyone has views on this situation. My UK Z32 had a replacement Jap engine fitted 20,000 miles ago, when a new cambelt was fitted. That was 8 years ago (OK, so I only use the car for special, rather than as a daily driver). The question is - with only 20k miles on that belt, does it NEED to be changed? If the time interval is also critical, that would mean that even at rest with the engine switched off, the belt is under stress. Is that really true?? I heard of some Australian research (sorry, lost reference) that claimed the time element was in fact irrelevant - the important factor is the engine running time, eg mileage. Anyone got any vi…

I blew my engine up a week ago, bottom end, just a quickie to see what you guys think, Ive brought an engine and am thinking about taking on the task of removing the blown one and fitting the new one myself with the help of a couple of mates, between us we have done ford cossie and pulsar gtir engines but a zed is a lot bigger and more complcated, add to the fact it would have to come out the top as well because we dont have a lift, are we taking on to much or has anybody out there done it themselves? :smw:

Ive just had to leave my lovely Z in a pub car park because the clutch went. Foot goes straight to the floor with no room to squeeze a gear in. Is this a major problem? Im still under warranty so not fussed either way, just wondering if its maybe a job I could do and learn from..

I noticed today that I have a loose wire hanging down behind the front bumper on the drivers side of the car.... This used to be attached to a small black electrical box thingy that was in turn attached to the plastic protector / cover coming under the car from the wheel arch. Does anyone know what it is and what it does plz ? ( The black box has been ripped off and gone :-( ) Thanks in advance (again).

seen some conflicting posts on here about products from the ebay seller 2fast2cool. the conclusion seemed to be they were good products for non-critical stuff.....but what about tension rods. obviously they are key safety parts but has anyone had any experience of these....? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220129701102&rd=1&rd=1 is pillowball the same as rose jointed? what are the advantages of these over standard ones for £20 less?

I stress the word "SUSPECT". Enquired about a car on their site, told it was still for sale, but it is on an American site as being in the USA. The dates are the same. As in, it is on sale in Japan, and not for sale in the USA. Emailed them, but got some wishy washy reply. http://www18.ocn.ne.jp/~mamiana/index.html

Hey, My dump valves are fitted to the top of my engine on the turbo pipes which run parralell to my inlet pipes. My inlet pipes are chromed and big, my tubo pipes are a dull metal colour and not as big as they are for my blitz dump valve. Should i leave the dump valve there? or relocate and go for same size turbo pipes as intlet pipes? if so where should i fit the dump valves?

OK you have been caning your Zed hard on a hot day and you are running low on petrol. You happen across a petrol station (the only one for miles around) - my question is: Is it safe to turn off the car whilst you get petrol (since you will then be driving off shortly thereafter) or would you sit about for a few minutes with your turbo timer on (which can be difficult at a petrol pump)? Obviously you can put the turbo timer on once you get home but what about temporary stops of a few minutes to get some petrol? will this harm the turbos? many thanks

after a rummage through threads I believe I can fit a na manual box to a tt engine by grinding out a couple of mm on the housing of the box and spacing starter by washers + converting front prop section to also accommodate. OR fit the na manual box using the starter/clutch/flywheel off a na (I would need an uprated clutch to cope with tt power) please inform if such options are valid? many thanks Paul
