General Discussions - 300ZX Related

My engine has a slight tap when you first start it and then goes away when it warms up. Does anyone know if this is commen and what it is? Cheers

as some people may know my Z has failed its mot on a few things. The main 2 being that the brake lines are corroded and both rear inner sills need sorted. Has anyone had this work done before that can give me a rough idea of what im looking at if i decide to fix her up rather than sell as she is? Cheers Brett

When driving home last night & again this morning my gearbox wouldn't change gear at normal revs but only right round on the redline any ideas? cheers Carl

Recently i found a japanese guys personal 2000spec model website and have been looking at all the photos of his zed and found some interesting things. While i was checking the maintance section he made i found a picture of this Which seems to show a different designed brake master cylinder to what ive previously seen on all zeds, does anyone know anything about this new cylinder.

hi just want to know what power the following z32 vg30dett parts can handle: z32 turbo gearbox? pistons? rods? crankshaft? ecu before it will need changing? Any help would be great thanks guys

Wanted to get rid of the orange diffuser inside so rather than cut it up & get the bits out I took the long road. One thing that annoyed me more is that apart from the orange bit is that the inside is white/light grey plastic. The only chrome is the reflector. here it is after being in the oven: Primed up the inside, then a nice coat of gloss black which is needed to apply the chrome. Final result with one of those bulbs that light orange but are silver when off. Definitely updated the look I think, whatcha rekon?

i wonder if anyone could tell me where i could get a 300zxtt lighted rear panel from or do you make them yourself??

I've just bought some 18's for my car and was told off somebody who has the same wheels that he needed to uses spacers, only 3mm and 5mm, will i get away without having to change the studs if I can find spacers that just sit between the wheel and the discs?

Seems that a few people have fitted these and I want to know if anyone has had any problems?

i've searched but still confused. i fitted a momo millenium 2 weeks ago. I have the wire for the horn, it's a yellow wire which I cut from the cruise/hicas/horn connector. if touch it to the body the horn sounds so that's straightforward enough. I'm not bothered with the cruise control so i've tucked the plug under the steering wheel. I got a hub kit which fits nicely onto the column, it was sold separately but by the same supplier rockshore.co.uk(something like that) so everything fits correctly. Does my J spec auto have an aftermarket gearbox oil cooler?? Was helping a friend out trying my afm on his s14 tonight and noticed this cooler (well it looks like a cooler!) cable tied to the front bumper, with an MFR date of 39th week of 2002... Is it what i think it is? The silver thing below the air filter

on some recomendations whats the largest electric fan i can fit to the radiator and then whats the best controller to go for the type that splits the bottom hose or the massive ss-enterprise cooker hob style one? i currantly have a twin 12 inch set up but i have to have it running pretty much all the time im driving as it seems to be struggling to pull air past the front mount any suggestions??

Hey all Finally ordered the kit to get the Z charging again. Stage 2 Shortblock from Z1 and a number of other bits and pieces. Thanks for all the help and advice so far and sorry about the dumb questions! Although Im afraid they wont be the last. So engine is out and Im getting the front end tidied up (was a bit bent) and engine bay re-spary et while its in bits. The heads are good so Ive got some ti valve fasteners and thats all for the heads. The one bore and one piston were toast so Ive ordered the S2 shortblock. The garage has sent the tubs back to Paul to get them fixed up. I thought while its all in pieces to get a new trans…

on my way 2 work this morning and noticed water temp was very high got 2 work checked water level it was VERY LOW! couldnt see any leaks so filled water up . left it to tick over and noticed water vapour coming from both exhausts. it doesnt clear up. checked water level again and needed another top up. still got water vapour from exhausts. checked oil level seems to be no problems with oil level or colour. find it very strange. engine running great and boost seems fine. havent noticed any performance difference at all. anybody got a clue?

Hi everybody, My side lights (front positioning lights) have packed in. I have checked the fuse in the footwell and that looks good. All other lights are working fine. Is there a relay under the bonnet or any other fuses for the side lights that I need to check? What should I be looking for?

HI people need a bit ov help and advice. my zed has a manual boost controller on one of the cheap ones on ebay. I would like to take it of as no one has said a good thing to say about them(come on the car when i bought it).
