General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hey all, Just put 500quid into my engine (NEw Cambelt Kit, Water Pump, Tensioner, 2 02 Sensors, Oil Change, Auxillery Belts, Alternator) and Thank god its running super smooth now but last 2 Starts on cold when i have started her up the Revs have been jumping from 750 - 1100 just up and down maybe 3/4times before it settles at 750! Now its never done this before im guessing it has something to do with the Cam timing perhaps??? Also another new prob (WAHEY!) is Twice now when coming up to Traffic lights if im in 3rd at 30 i put my foot on the clutch and before i put it into 2nd or Neutral the revs die all the way to like 200rpm so lights dim and it cut out on me (Stal…

my car was raised and each wheel checked for play in all directions. seemed fine. if this is the main method for checking common suspension problems (such as bush failure) and bearing problems and it was fine can i pretty much rule this out? see below thread for more background. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=106561&highlight=bearing

Spotted this for sale again in Japan, always loved it, shame at the moment i cant afford it but i think its awsome :D I think i would change the colour and maybe see what its like without the spoiler but apart from that its mental :hyper: Oh and its also running the FULL tomei 3.2 kit and TD05 turbo kit :bow: Not cheap though Mike

i`ve fitted a full decat exhaust sytem and was woundering what to do with the pipes that connect to the old exhaust?(there`s one each side and run up into inner wings some where) do i just leave them,block them off or join them up.

I cant decide what colour xenons to have, i fitted the 6000k last year on my BMW, but fancy something a bit more special, although i know that the 12,000k are strictly a no-go. What do you guys have fitted, pics would be very helpful, thanks guys

dont want to jinx my car or anything but is has done nearly 110,000 miles now, its a UK manual tt, i have many reciepts for the car but cannot find anything to suggest it has had new turbos, its still runs fine and dosent smoke... my question is will regular oil changes prolong the life of them also do they wear out quicker the more often they boost??? thanks guys

hi, ive been nosing around the forum for a while now but havnt posted. i bought a 300zx back in december but sadly the water pump decided to pi$$ all the coolent out after just a weeks driving. im having trouble finding a garage that will replace the pump and i can trust to do it properly. while its being replaced im thinking about doing the cambelt and thermostat at the same time. Does anyone have any ideas about where i could take it thats near to silverstone? and any other suggestions about what to replace at the same time? thanks Joe

my auto box is playing up its not changing in to the 2nd gear sometimes when i set off. i have to rev it then let it go then rev again or it will go right round to 7000 revs. its not all the time but mainly when i try to set off quickly. please help!

i have de-catted my zed and fitted Apexi air filter, will a chip be beneficial or would i need a boost controller for it to be effective? i haven't upped the boost nor have i got a boost controller as yet. Just wondered if i would feel any benefits of a a chip?

My son has just got a fixed fine for not displaying his tax disc, the disc however was in the windscreen but on the offside. The reason for this is that the holder had come loose and he had temporarily wedged it against the screen behind a pod mount for his boost gauge. Obviously the police when inspecting down my sons road were only checking the n/s of the vehicles! Is there legislation in place that states placement of the tax disc? :confused:

Just wondered what everyones opinions were on these two subjects? Who prefers their car modified (and I mean bodystyling etc) and why, and who prefers stock and why. Just trying to find a sense of direction with what I want to do to her!

I just had my 300zx weighed on a weighbridge..... Can you guess how much it weighed? The reason I ask is there are sooo many figures banded about... I wasn't what I thought it would be! Now to help you, my car is a completely standard 1992 Jspec Manual 2+2. I have no modifications, nothing taken off, nothing added. Toolkit and wheel were present. The weight included the driver (me) :tongue: and I weigh 80Kg's (the total weight is also in kg's). What was the total weight? Closest gets a pint from me at the next national meet! :duffer:

Started ringing round for insurance quotes so tried my usual company £541.00 fully comp for me and the wife :D Think I can live with that for the TT.

my zed wont tick over properly its fine when first started from cold but as soon as i rev it and it trys to come back down to idle speed it starts hunting(revs drop to nearly 0 then up to 1500) can any one help? if i remove the rubber hose that comes from the passenger side hard pipe on top of turbo to a contoll valve then its fine i`ve changed the part on the back of the engine that the pipe goes to and its still the same.the cars got hks blow off valves full exhaust with divorced pipes and front mount intercooler

Hi, I have an import -1990 NA. In getting to know the car I'm currently trying to resolve why the permanent feed ( yellow cable) into the radio hardness is not live. I have located the fuses in the drivers well - but on removing the plastic cover - the green fuse ID label is in Japanese - Does any one know where I can get a translation so I can ID the fuses? I have checked the on-line manual - electrical section, and this does not really help me. Thanks Rae
