Thought I would post as couldn't find anything about this anywhere online so might save somebody some time. After doing head gaskets and timing belt car would not start, could not get the timing mark anywhere near, actually sparking on no3 cylinder, about 90' out on cam. Turned out to be ptu connector on the wrong way. The outer connector casing had got twisted so it looked right and the connector a bit loose with age so it slid over the 2 and 3 notches. Easy fix in the end just wish I'd found it before removing manifold and valve cover again and buying replacement cas.

My Z's tachometer has always read high when compared to either Conzult or more recently also my Racelogic, which taps into the tach line from the ECU. For example, at warm idle my tach reports a smidge over 1k, while the Racelogic/ECU reports 850. This continues all the way through the rev range. I just wondered if anyone else has found theirs is the same or better yet if there may be a fix for this?

Fortunately my new Z seems to be in good condition in respect of rust and I'd like to try and keep it that way. I had dinitrol applied to my previous Z and though it may be good at rust protection it's terribly messy stuff, especially for any future work on the car. My socials must be listening into my thoughts again as I'm getting spammed with ads for a 'new' product called Lanoguard. There seems to be a huge amount of positive support for the product on the social platforms, they have decent videos on YT and their site looks professional enough. It's supposedly very simple to apply, must be done at least annually and requires no masking off. It seems a bit too good…

Good morning everyone, I have been asked a few times recently as to whether we are holding an AGM this year - and apologise that we have been a bit tardy in organising something for 2022. So, given that we are now in the middle of the holiday season, it's probably best to look at late-September/early October if we are going to hold an event this year. The main holiday season is over, the weather is still usually kind, so it is one last chance to get out with our cars before winter.... I have spoken with the British Motor Museum, as they did a great job for our 2019 event - and they have availability for Sunday October 2nd. British Motor Museum | Home …

Okay, a few jobs were done on the Zed (TT) in the past week.. New oil pressure sensor fitted - all working okay (I've never seen the oil pressure gauge read so high). New fuel regulator fitted - seems fine at the moment. Idle speed adjusted - was idling a bit too low, with a tendency to stall (infrequently). Connected ECUTalk and went for a wee drive (screenshot of the info at idle) Comments on the gauge readings welcomed, please. I think that the AAC % is way too high and the IACV/FICD has no activity at all. The car runs fine but quite rich, it does have a Zedworld chip fitted and is decatted Would the high AAC reading have anythi…

The outer strip that brushes against the window as it goes up and down. Is there any way to restore these or paint them? The silver is starting to show and I would like to tidy them up.

Looking to get my car insured again - all mods declared. Do people have recommendations? I tried performance direct but they told me they cant offer me anything instantly and it's one they would need to "put out" and come back to me. Also sent details to Greenlight insurance and am waiting on quotes. I have seen elsewhere that Adrian Flux are very expensive these days. Any info on what people pay would be helpful too. UPDATE: Performance direct have said they can't offer any cover as the insurer does not like that the car has been off the road for the last year and a half? Strange.

Afternoon legends, So I’m not overly technically minded but I’m trying to learn! I have an issue with my fan on start up. I start the car and I get 2-4 seconds of light belt squeak which stops the second the fan kicks in. As far as I’m aware, the fan should kick in immediately on start up, right? I want to have a go at fixing myself so looking for advice on what the cause is and how to fix cheers PFA

Hey guys, a youtuber going by "Jesse's Garage" has been rating his subscribers 300ZX's and so to get some exposure of my Z and my 2kspec replica project, I sent Jesse in a few photos and some details about my Z and he then gave his honest opinion on what he thinks of my car and then giving it a grade of between F to A. It was a fun little exercise for me to participate in and I was differently excited to see my car finally posted on youtube. I am still editing my very first youtube video atm and it could be a little while before its ready to be pulished but I'm hopeful i can get it done sooner rather then later. Here is the link to the video with my car featured in it,…

Hi all, My Z has just come back from Jim @ PowerZed, new cambelt, fluids, filters. I now want to move onto the bodywork, unfortunately in the words of Jim this is looking like a 'Deep Pocket Edition'. Please could someone let me know how I can post some pictures as I was hoping to get advice on where I can get some parts from.

Let’s get a thread going with pictures, of off the shelf and custom made exhausts. Please include as many details as possible including the brand/manufacturer, bore/tip size, flow design (X/H etc) and any other relevant details. If you’re unsure of the specifics, post a picture and other members can help to identify it. Feel free to duplicate systems that have already been posted to give ideas of the aesthetics on different colours and mod state cars. It doesn’t have to be your own car, post away!

One of the things I'm trying to get sorted this summer is the power steering leak from around the pot area. All 3 hoses that connect to it are cracking badly so wanted to swap them all. The one I'm having issues finding is the middle one with the "b" label. From what I can tell this seems to have been available at some point on its own as 4972530P04 but is now NLA, and also as a set with the hardlines, brackets and bolts (circled red on the pic) as 49790-30P01 Does anyone know if there's a silicon version available out there (Z1 and Concept Z seem to have different shaped silicon hoses for that area, assume the LHD are different - also both stores don't s…

Was looking through Concept Z to get an order together and came across some "BlasterZ" accent stripe replacements, I may pick some of these up ready for when I have the respray done. Found their website and they seem to have replicas for a lot of stickers on the zed too: https://blasterzgarage.com/products/complete-accent-stripe-kit-all-models?variant=32632120377475 Has anyone tried anything by them before? Is the quality any good?

Hi all, We have reserved a club stand at this year's Simply Japanese show, Beaulieu, on Sunday 24th July; details in the events section as below... This is one of the year's best shows in my opinion - with something to interest everyone. Not only is Beaulieu a great location, considering it houses the National Motor Museum, but the house and grounds are lovely too.... Simply Japanese is always well attended, with some truly excellent Japanese cars on display..... So if you're interested, get your names down and your tickets bought. I shall look forward to seeing you there ?

Recently had my front upper control arms powder coated and am aware they are handed. I hole punched the left one so I could identify it. However, I was wondering what the actual difference is between them as I cannot tell from a quick look. I was wanting to double check I had it right.
