hi all. just got my zed bk from garage today with a fresh mot . anyways i thought id take it out for a spin as i havent had it for 2 weeks whilst it was having work done. obviously its been red hot today so didnt tempt thrashing it,but when i got home after bout an hours driving i popped the bonnet and to my surprise i noticed smoke coming from back of engine. obviously this is a worry but i couldnt see exactly where the smoke was coming from, has anyone got any ideas what this might be? engine seems to be running ok,but i was also at a standstill in traffic for about 20 mins prior to getting home and opening bonnet so could it be where the engine is just so hot it may be …

  9. Ok the Z is going to have to be parked up for 2 years, and wondering what needs to be done so when i come back to her she'll fire up. so far i've done: - remove battery and put on a timer to trickle charge for 1/2 hr each day - put some moisture soaking crystals inside - put the front and back on blocks to raise wheels of the ground - put her under a huge cover (she'll be garaged anyway) any other pointers, only things i thought was putting in some fuel addative to help prevent rust etc, what do people think???? cheers

Just looked under my car, never really looked at the sills in detail for ages but ive just washed the car and a large part of the chipseal stuff underneath came of as i washed the bottom of the sill. The glove must have picked it up. With the amount of brown under the entire sill, is this the end of my Zed? Also ive noticed a seam down the sill never really noticed it before should this be as it is? Never noticed it on another car before... Someone tell me its all going to be okay! Feel :hurl: atm! Also this is the drivers side rear arch... the sill on this side looks okay. Well alot better than the passenger side.

Hey all, I've finally got to the root of my problem, piton rings blown and the piston is shot to shit. This has caused a very slight groove in the cylinder. Now, I'm taking it to a place on friday, having the cylinder re-bored, probably will only need about 0.0020" taking out, but this will require an over sized piston. If I only change the one, and make sure the new piston is exactly the same weight as a standard piston, can I get away without replacing all the other pistons? Surely the fractionally greater compression on that cynlinder wont make any difference, will it? Obviously all pots re-bored and a full set of over-sized pistons ain't cheap, so would like to get ar…

sorry! have searched. am going to fit a dv soon. i know you have to remove the standard recuircs, then block them off. most people put their aftermarket ones where the standard ones. (where as on a 200SX people put them on the Hot or cold intercoooler pipes. anyway, can i just put ONE dump valve in replace of the standard one, and just block the other standard one off? or do i have to have 2, one each side?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to secure the stock front bumper when using a front mount intercooler (i.e. side mounts and ducts have been removed). I've bolted it back on with what mounts are still available but it's a bit 'flappy' at the sides - just in front of the wheels. Suppose the same applies to aftermarket bumpers too. Not sure if it would self destruct if I used it as is... Cheers RobH

Well, after a few harrowing months of Zed ownership, it's nearly time to do a few bits of basic maintenance. I'm soon going to be needing some new tyres (mainly because whoever put on the wide wheels didn't sort the camber... grr...) and was wondering if there were any suggestions? I currently have Pirelli Rainsports which are as sticky as anything, but obviously wear quickly too. I've been looking through places like http://www.mytyres.co.uk and have no idea what to go for! I need 265 35 R18's rear and 235 fronts if that makes a difference. I was going to ask about oil, but I found a post where j1mmytt was whinging about someone asking another oil question... s…

I have seen in the past, a few people have had this problem. How easy is it to sort? Gonna try and do a home job as my dad is good at that sort of thing and can't afford to get it done professionaly. Any tips or pointer would be appreciated. The main thing im worried about is finding a close enough paint colour match. Its a pearl white but dont have a paint code as it has been resprayed. Not sure if its a nissan pearl or not either.

Hi there, My car has just started squealing when accelerating hard, usually when coming out of a T junction turning right or left, then continuing down the road (in a straight line) unless I'm very gentle. Is this wheel bearings or do you think it's the diff, please? Thanks for your time! Mr Pink

Now that I have HKS actutors on my new tubs. I'm really liking the noise that make when coming off boost. ** Edit been told this is actually turbo stall and not the actuators ** Is turbo stall a bad thing ?. If so how do I get rid of it ? The problem I have is that I not only get the "Tshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" from the dump valves, I also get the "BerrrDerrBurrrrllllrrlllrlrllr" (you know the sound I mean). I know you can tighten up the SQL's to make them only go off at higher pressures, but can I tighen them up to the point where they no longer go off ?, If yes, and I do this is there any potential problems I now have.

Guys, I'm a little worried at the moment. We have a club dyno day booked up for the 28th of this month. My Z is almost up to the 1st stage of running it in. It's almost done 500 miles with an oil/flter change done at 150 miles. the car has now done 400+ miles since the rebuild limiting at 3.5 - 4k rpm and running max boost of 4k rpm. I'll be doing an oil/filter change at the end of the week when it has done it's 500 miles where I'll be putting some decent oil in. Since the last oil change, the car has not burnt any oil at all (which I think it quite rare on new builds - hopefully this is a good sign). It's not lost any water or any fulid for that mat…

I've just had a new key cut as the other one snapped but it has now caused some problems. The key turns ok and the engine starts but when I turn it off and the key all the way back most times all the ignition lights stay on. It then take 5-8 times of turning it back on and off again until they go out. I can even take the key out of the ignition and all the lights are still on! Is this just because the key is crap and I need another one done?
