Laptop to carputer
that's where i plan on putting mine but must make absolutely sure the t-top doesn't leak down to there!!! If you can open up the cigar lighter plug and as long as there isn't any circuitry inside you should be able to connect it directly to the + & - wires to the lighter socket. I think mine has a fuse built in which i'll get an inline fuse holder for. HTH

Laptop to carputer
I'm a real cheap ass, you're going to hate me!!! I got a DVD headunit and motorised Screen for 135 notes on ebay. I had to repair a faulty mode switch on the screen but it now works a treat. I got an Acer travelmate 220 in THE shittiest condition you ever saw for 35 notes also on Fleebay. missing keys, broken case no battery or PS you name it (I call it my Craptop), anyway the important thing is it's a P3 with upgraded 20gig HDD and it works... mostly... well the screen is on it's last legs but it's comming off anyway! Anyway got a DC car charger and powered it up... It's running 98 which is plenty good and it boots up much quicker than XP. The graphics driver has an option to set the VGA socket to TV-out by default. I've removed the touch pad from the case and I'm in the process of building it into the recess where the ashtray is at the moment. As for power i'm gonna have to invest in a battery (£50 :( ), then with ther DC charger hardwired to the ignition the power management options are set to switch to standby within 1 minute of being on battery power alone. It's then set to wake from standby when i touch the touch-pad in the centre console. It's running DATASCAN without any trouble at all and I'm hinking of getting a GPS dongle and a TV card and maybe an external HDD for music and vids. I will take pictures when i'm finished if it doesn't all go tits-up. Sorry for going on but I hope that with so many of us now doing the carputer thing we can all help each other out with our experiences.

Tps
sorry to post hijack but according to my datascan when i push the accelerator to the floor the TP dial only goes up to 4. Shouldn't it go all the way to 6?

What a SHIT ref.!!!!
Fotty is a load of balls!!! What i know about it I could write on a stamp. If the argument is to support the english team as they represent your country when they play against a foreign team, then surely the fact that most english teams consist of foreign players make that argument complete horseshit! Tribal chanting and emotional male bondage ain't my cuppa tea!

Sweet :nana2: I did notice those lights making a sneaky apearence :D Had mine done by your namesake (woody) at Arfon Bodycraft in Caernarfon. Had my talgate, front and rear bumpers resprayed and the ruber spoiler replaced with a fiberglass one. Maybe we should gatecrash the weekly kroozing met in holyhead... show those saxo boys what they could have when they grow up

Who's still got the original titanium key then?
Sure... I guess. Probly costs as much as Robocop! But if you have an import you have to face the humiliation of the local parts guy laughing out loud contiuously in your face for 30 minutes when you ask the question... Thats if he hasn't loked himself in the gents as soon as he sees you pull in. Give MJP a cal...

central locking control unit
THE only way to fit remote central locking to a zed (at least the earlier ones) is to fit a 2 wire solenoid to the drivers door. It's a fiddly job, particularly the geting 2 cables through the loom from the body to the door. But the solenoid itself can be mounted pretty easily in the recess right next to the lock mechanism. The conecting rod from the inside door handle connects to a pivot with a plastic insert that the solenoid conecting rod will fit into if you bend it at a right angle. That sounds horendous!! I know what I mean anyway! I should have taken photos and done a how to!

Total closure - Wires?
Anyone fitted one of these? I managed to burn out my window control relaly yesterday :headvswal Managed to resolder the burnt out track... phew! I'm about to give up. The wiring article i got from this forum says "GREEN WIRE TO MOTOR". 12v to this wire makes the window go down :( Any help would be gratefully received.

electrics problem...
Did you manage to sort the problems mate? I have the same problem with my A/C, wipers and clock. I removed a bodged cable that was hooked up between what I think were the fuses for rear wiper (top row) and power stering (bottom row) in the footwell fuse box. I'm gonna replace the cable later and see if the wipers, ac and clock come back. Will let you know....

Idling & engine Rough. Missing in lows revs
Highly unlikely to be that then :mac1: Could still be a vacuum leak tho
-
Failed......
As i understand it, the joint on the outboard end of the hicas arms are part of the arms and cant be replaced without changing the whole arm. HICAS eliminator won't make any differene if these joints are warn. I wish there was a way to do away with the whole ruddy lot... I just know mines gonna fail too :(

Electrical Fault
Id say the Speedo and Power steering problems are probably linked as PS system has an input from the speedo via the ECU.

Sorry again - clutch actuator problem :(
Awesome!! Thanks

Idling & engine Rough. Missing in lows revs
Could be a vacuum leak. I just found one on my clutch actuator. Is your clutch heavy?

What the hell is this in my car?
Cool! Give him a baseball bat and tell him to look after the car for you... Should get a hell of a discount from the insurers and will cost less than a clifford :D

Sorry again - clutch actuator problem :(
Since I picked up the car last november the clutch has been a bit on the heavy side. On the occasions when I've taken the dash binnacle out I have been able to hear hissing coming from somplace near the firewall with the engine running. Finally got down and dirty and crawled into the drivers footwell last night to find the hissing coming from the seam around what I'm guessing is the vacuum assisted clutch actuator? (Looks like a brake servo only on the inside of the car under the clutch pedal) So... It looks a complete TWAT to change and probably costs and arm and a leg and a genital? Can I just disconnect and plug the vacuum feed to it (I think it's the hose that does a circuit around the brake servo?) and live with a slightly heavy clutch? I think this was also what was causing my rough idling :hyper:

What the hell is this in my car?
Took the roof mount map lights/aircon fan thingy appart yesterday to find one of those old biros (like you had at school with two colours of ink in)... anyhow removed said foreign object and now the fan thing is making a buzzing noise! :headvswal
