  1. A good question indeed! It was only supposed to be a quick job (ain't that always the way!). To be fair, the man hours spent on it hasn't been overly significant, but I've just been chipping away when I can. The window I originally had to complete the job was rudely interrupted by other commitments. It has been long enough though, I'm glad I'm sorting it out now and I enjoy keeping myself occupied with these kind of tasks. In the winter when it's miserable I'd rather not be freezing out in the garage! For me the thrill of the chase is just as much fun as the enjoyment from driving the car; certainly for this job anyway as it's nice and straight forward, other jobs are no fun at all!!
  2. My bay is starting to look all enginey again. [emoji106] The vvt solenoids are resealed and the rocker covers are now torqued down with new crush washers. The plenum has been modified to allow clearance for the (new style) connector on the #1 and also to give access to all 6 injector fasteners without plenum removal. A couple of tidy up jobs to do with the plenum off (it's only slaved on) then it'll be the final push and function/leak checks. After that, I have to install the ebc harness and vacuum hose through the passenger side wheel arch and into the glove box.
  3. I did use these but I painted them black to blend in.
  4. Installed a boost gauge, what do you think? I have another 5 gauges to go in line:
  5. Give them to me and I'll refurb them for you. I'll let you know when they're ready...
  6. If you paint them black I'll slash your tyres!!
  7. Yeah, I never used the fogs, I removed the bulbs a few years ago as they were a funny blue colour behind the glass. I have the US spec clusters that don't have the sidelight bulb cutout so it looks cleaner through the lens.
  8. Mine are also centrally mounted in the fog lamp bulb recess so that the light spread stays even(ish) in the cluster.
  9. If you mean the lower mouldings, you can get them from the z centre.
  10. 30th July. https://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=186708
  11. Looks much better, I do think losing the tub and having a glass screen back in will further improve it.
  12. Welcome to the club. [emoji106]
  13. I'll be at Beaulieu that's for sure. I'll be down there Friday Saturday and Sunday this year. [emoji41] I had already booked a shift off work for Simply Japanese and to incorporate a mini family holiday down there. I then have the next shift off for a week in Cornwall. In order to attend the AGM, I would've had to take half of the shift before off as it falls between my 2 nights and I couldn't get that time off. [emoji17] You need to get your name down for Beaulieu Dave, then we can have a good catch up [emoji106]
  14. Nice one Howard [emoji41][emoji106]

  16. I have all the bits to rebuild now (I hope!) so it'll come together pretty quickly when I find the time to tackle it, however I've not put my name down for Coventry this year as I couldn't get the time off work unfortunately. [emoji17]
  17. Looks very tidy that Lee [emoji106] I'm surprised you spent all that time and money on stripping/painting the car, without having a good inspection all over beforehand though!
  18. Firstly, that's a lovely looking Z you have there [emoji106] Secondly, advice of tyre/wheel fitment based on widths alone with no information of offset is meaningless and could cause someone an expensive mistake. Another 10J wheel with 255 tyres and a different offset would sit differently in the arch. I'm just politely pointing that out.
  19. Another day and another little something done on the Z from me [emoji41] I'm currently waiting for the crush washers to arrive for the rocker covers so I can crack on with building this back together, so today I got my ESDS strap on to replace my incompatible SE chip. It felt good removing this chip and slipping in the replacement from SpecialtyZ, I'm glad that I finally have an eprom which is properly matched to the setup I have. It's certainly the best I'll get without having the car custom mapped at Protuner, but that's a story for another thread! I also decided to test fit the plenum with the new injectors in. As per Jimmer's advice, the #1 requires some material removing from the web as the connector will not go on. I've marked it all up now ready for the dremel.
  20. For the pinstripe, I probably used the same or similar to the stuff that you used and the first time round it started to peel. Now I have the same tape applied with a discreet tiny dab of decal edge sealant at each end and I've had no problems since. As for the vapour barrier, my driver's door has been internally deadened and the vapour barrier replaced with deadening also. Whilst it sounds like a "golf", the shear weight of the door means that no matter how tight I do up the hook latch on the B pillar, it slowly migrates and pulls the door out of flush with the rear quarter. I'm also not convinced it made any difference to the feel of the door or improve the audio of the front speakers.
  21. I sorted out my rocker covers, balance bar and fuel lines in preparation for finally putting this "quick project" back together!
  22. Looking forward to seeing the pics/vids [emoji106]
