Rare parts thread
As far as I know yes. Mine is an early ‘93 and it has the curb lights. I’m pretty sure all the clusters of that type have the indicator at the front and the curb light at the back.

Fat Lamb Weekend Meet - Southern Convoy
For me the quickest route is up the M11 from Essex, picking up the A14 (and joining Craig) before heading up the A1 all the way to Scotch Corner and cutting across the A66. This route isn’t the quickest for you guys travelling from the more central southern areas, it’s not too bad for Andrew and Gary but for Nick and Ian it’s a bit more of a detour? Do you fancy arranging a convoy route or do people just want to head up at their own leisure? Craig and I could cut across the A14 to join a convoy at the M6 near Birmingham or you could head east and we take the A1. Where are folk travelling from who are further North but might want to join a convoy?

Series 1 dials?
The easiest way to tell is the orientation of the 2 right hand connector sockets, Art. You can see in the reference pic below that those plugs are orientated 90degrees out, I forget exactly which one denotes which model year but I think the pic you linked is from a series 1 and this pic is from a series 2. I’m sure someone will confirm, otherwise I can check later. (Ignore the red circles on the bulbs, it’s just a pic I grabbed from google images)

Good quality clutch for 3-400bhp
Buy cheap, (sometimes) pay twice!

My daughter calls it Toothless the Dragon: My ‘95 TT Z
It looks as though the holes have been filled so I’m guessing that decision was already made. I do agree it would look pretty cool though. I would suggest a red GZA steering wheel emblem (yes I did just recommend the red one Andrew!), but as Nick has a later spec car it would have the airbag wheel.

Good quality clutch for 3-400bhp
Another thumbs up for the RPS combo here. Unbelievably light pedal feel when combined with a 350z clutch fork, nice and progressive and proven to handle at least 700lbft!

Ace cafe 3rd nov
Whilst I do use mine all year round, it’s still weather dependent for me to use it (mainly determined by the application of salt). Recent years have shown the ice/salt to hold out until late November so the date arranged should be ok on that front, however the weather is just generally not kind at that time of the year; cold, wet and grim! With the weather in the colder months and folk like Pete who only use their car during the Summer (most of whom only tax them for 6 months), it’s always going to be a struggle. I’m off on the 3rd so I’ll put my name down for a social in the Z with you guys but for future meets there, is it possible to secure a booking during the summer?

Replacing VIN plates - anyone done this?
The seller I bought mine from has raised the price a fair bit recently but it’s still less the £25 and arrives within a couple of days. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F122211287874

Replacing VIN plates - anyone done this?
I paid a bit less then that :p I’ll get mine sent away for embossing one day! When I first received the plate, I made several calls to various different contacts through Nissan, went round in circles, upside down, back through the same hole, round the tree, through the rabbit hole and all the way back with the general consensus of “Erm, no”! I then sent emails to 704 companies from google with pictures of what I wanted and the majority said they couldn’t do it. I did have one company in China that said they could do it but would cost 170USD and I’d have to order a minimum of 5! Another company in France came back as a yes but the press they use is with a company in the Ukraine and that I’d have to pay them direct via Western Union, sounded dodgy! I finally got a good hit on a company in Doncaster that said they would do it for £44 inc vat and shipping, this thread has reminded me to send it away. Have you looked into where to get it done Andy?

I then moved on to troubleshoot the whining noise from the engine making it sound supercharged! My hunch was an alternator bearing but, having de-tensioned the belt and started the car, the noise remained. So I restored that back to normal and moved on to the A/C compressor, loosened the belt and hey presto, the noise stopped! My initial thoughts were: bugger! However having removed the belt I tried the pulley and it spun smoothly and freely, I then moved down to the tensioner/idler pulley and it was like the bearings were made of sand papers and lumps of granite! I’ve managed to source a bearing and will take the pulley to work tonight and see if I can press it out. I much prefer the idea of a £5 bearing over the pulley assembly which is around £150!

What did you do to your zed today?
I got my starter motor back from overhaul today in the hope that it would cure my intermittent non-starting issue. It turns out that the clutch mechanism for the pinion gear was defective and so with replacement of all the components, the old girl is back to full fighting strength. It cost £132 from London and Essex Auto Electrics in North Weald.

Ace Cafe 24th March
Mine is still off the road for maintenance so I won’t be able to make it tomorrow. It’s also still very salty so I would be in two minds even if it wasn’t up on the air!
