Tablet installation
Wow, that's good value for money. I poured away several thousand pounds on my carpc installation and even after all that, eventually I couldn't wait to rip it all out and install a normal purpose built, double din head unit! I had datascan on live stream in mine, I made all the dials on my display to match the OEM dials in the cluster, but datascan does give you a "modern" gauge preference which makes the display practically identical to the GTR display.

New motorway speed camera danger ..
When they first activated those cameras on the M25, they were set to go off at something silly like 70! I think they flashed nearly every car going through them for a few days/weeks! I was "flashed" by one in particular more than once. Although I never received anything.

Decided on my zeds new look.
To be fair, his current wheels are modelled on expensive Japanese wheels (NISMO LMGT4) and they look the business [emoji106] You could still have a polished lip on your GTRs, one of the colour options with them was with a polished lip. Personally, I like wheels to be silver, darker wheels tend to hide the definition in the design and with such a nice looking wheel, you want to show it off!

300zx review vid
I agree on all fronts about the values, it's certainly not something to worry about, but I see no reason why you wouldn't be happy with an appreciating classic. Personally, I've always taken an interest in the values as its a "nice to know" thing. However, it has never ruled my perception of the car or dictated the way I use the car. I never worry about its value, I never loose any sleep over it, I use the car when I want to use it and I choose to keep it as clean and tidy as possible because I'm very proud of it. It's value would not change any of those things [emoji106]

I've seen a few zeds from these regions with the main beam cluster illuminated, seemingly fairly dimly. I wonder if it's some kind of retrofit day time running light?

MAF to Air Filter bolts (x4)
Hi, I'm after 4x bolts that attach the air filter (Apexi, although I assume others are the same as is the stock airbox?) to the MAF. The threaded section and shank from the underside of the head to the end is approximately 20mm. Thanks in advance.

Build Costs of a zed
I have 2 lists; one list is sent to the underwriters before I get a quote, which includes details and dates of literally everything I have done to the car. The other list is identical, except it contains prices! [emoji88] After getting an "agreed valuation in principle" over the phone (at quote stage), when applying for the official agreed valuation certification, I submit the price list, another small list which details items that are cash purchases with no receipts (with a value over £100) and all the invoices/receipts (£100 or more) to quantify the first list. The whole lot is scanned as one pdf document and forwarded to the appropriate people. The value is then confirmed (or denied) with a certificate. I'm assuming you didn't get the certificate?

Is that the 17th Edition Regulations BS7671 2008 IEE wiring regulations manual for domestic, commercial and industrial installations?

Very much so, it's a bit grey and down to interpretation, but I think I stand a fighting chance when/if I eventually get pulled over for it, I'll let you know!

Z32s at auction
Good point, maybe it's a Navan shifter, weren't they dealer options? ... Simon? [emoji1]

Aha, but have a read of the amendment? The groups within the amendment are assumed to have the 2 groups of letters divided vertically (on 2 lines), but nowhere does it state that you have to do that. There is no directive in 14a which states horizontal spacing between groups (unless you have a UK car).

How can it be a grade 5? It has a RAZO auto shifter, surely that drops it a point or 2? [emoji1]

If this was QI, the klaxon would be going off and the lights would be flashing [emoji1] I refer you to The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 (2002 No.2687): http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2002/2687/pdfs/uksi_20022687_en.pdf The amendment that reflects import Z32's is 14a (Section 5(2)). It details the legal requirement for the spacing/sizing/font requirements of the registration display and as per that, mine is legal. [emoji41] I also have an email from the DVLA stating that if my registration markings conform to this amendment, then they are indeed legal. I carry these documents around in my glovebox.

Insurance company ratings - my experience
Most companies allow you to buy the car back, usually at scrap value, 10% of the settlement could be quite a hit on a 10-15k agreed value policy. If you had paid an extra £15 on your premium for the "nil deduction salvage retention" FJ+ product, you would've got the car back for free including the full payout.
