  1. Quite often when you do that kind of thing - burnouts or donuts in an auto Z, the auto box controller has a fit and loses drive/gears :nono: Switching the ignition off and back on usually clears it :slap: Don't ask me how I know ;)
  2. I've been looking out for some like that. They look a bit like the ones on the Lotus Elise Mk II. I was going to find out how much they are. Those have not been fitted well at all though! LOL
  3. You shouldn't need to turn the boost up or have you only just fitted it and are assuming you're in safety boost? When the ECU detects detonation or the water is not up to temp (or faulty sensors) it retards the ignition and opens the wastegate solenoids to give safety boost level. When the controller was fitted you should have unplugged the wastegate solenids so it can't be that. Even if the ignition is retarded you should still get good boost from your controller. Sounds like you have a boost leak! Do the ECU diag and see if there's a fault. If not then either something has come loose or you havent yet set the contoller up...
  4. Or you can plug in a resistor instead for 2p and have no det sensor. I don't see why it's a problem as anyone who has a boost controller is running around with it disabled anyway...
  5. No it's the same stuff auto or manual - it's just a type of hydraulic fluid. Halfords or any car spares place will have it for about a fiver. I think Dexron III is replacing it and I've used that too.
  6. Those elephant.co.uk ones really do take the piss :nono:

Remember to light a candle so you can see in better :D ;)
  8. Probably just need to top up your power steering/HICAS fluid. It's Dexron II type auto transmission fluid you need. Goes in the greenish pot on the drivers side wing ;) If it's all gone then you could have a burst hose but I doubt it. It expands with the heat so sometimes the light comes on when cold but goes away after a drive. When the light is on, your rear wheel steering will be disabled but I doubt you'd notice unless you are trying to get it sideways
  9. Will do. 195bhp you know you want it! :D If it wasn't a good car I wouldn't even think of selling it to anyone here. I can send a few pics but it's the one you can just see on the drive:
  10. I'll give you a call when I finish work mate. These cars are a bargain when you think it was £23K new about 3.5 to 4 years ago!
  11. Porsche are having problems with their ceramic brakes! "Replacing four PCCB discs and pads costs over £27,000" http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/?domain=evo&page=http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/evo_news_story.php?id=46530 How can the system be a £6K option but it costs £27K to replace the disks and pads?! That means their standard brakes must be about £21K anyway
  12. That's the same upgrade plan as me Stuart! I'm just past the "may as well upgrade the turbos and injectors" step and heading for the "blow a piston from running too much boost" stage! I think I've spent about £14K on mine on top of the £9K i paid for it 5 years ago  I've had very low running costs in the last 18 months though! :D But when you stomp the accellerator with 400+bhp you know it's all worth it.
  13. I bet the heater matrix is easier to change
  14. It's like you said - off the road for so long they had to close. I spent £650 on Optimax one month when I was using it for my business  My clients were paying my travel expenses so I didn't care. Last weekend I put £45 in on saturday morning and had to put another £45 in on sunday morning. Put £20 in on sunday night! £110 in a weekend and less than 200 miles  I can't afford that these days now it's out of my own pocket :nono: That's why I've bought a Saxo diesel runabout :o
  15. but if it isn't.... it will :xxx: ;) LOL
  16. I used to have one 400 yards away but it closed :( Now I have to drive 1 mile LOL
  17. I had a long list before from the old forum software but I couldn't edit it because of the maximum limit that's been set. Decided to get rid and link to another file!
  18. It's just like normal super unleaded and nobody seems very impressed with it. Optimax is higher octane which is always good on turbo cars :D
  19. Doesn't the car reset to normal boost once the engine has been switched off?
  20. Well they are looking at an all time record temp in Madrid this weekend of around 105 degrees so if you want it warm thats the place to go LOL
  21. It's a lot of work to find out that it won't fit if you didn't know!
  22. Azev A's also look good on silver! :D They are dead cheap too.
  23. Cheers John, As Mr Mac says, I think Vinz has hybrids but mine are full T28's. Not sure how much difference it will make to the chip though.
  24. I'm selling my red Alfa 156 V6 if you are interested. It's a fantastic car with the best sounding engine I've ever heard. 2.5L, 6 Speed manual, excellent condition, Black leather, Interior as new, full electrics, aircon, cloverleaf alloys, new battery, disks and pads front and rear last month. Very quick car, had it up to 155mph on a test track ;) It's a T reg, going in the trader at £5750 but I'd take £5K. I'll miss it but now the Z is back on the road I've bought a Saxo diesel as my runabout
  25. In the Nissan service manual they say to remove the engine and box together on a manual but to remove the box first on an auto. I'd always remove the box anyway, you would need a lot of height on your hoist to get it out in one lump.
