  1. I'm currently sat by the side of the road waiting for the AA after my Zed overheated. I'm absolutely gutted and seriously considering throwing in the towel... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. The dials read the correct speed to within 2(ish) MPH when compared to my phone and sat nav. Could probably get it closer but i'm happy with that margin.
  3. If you’re going to do an LED conversion, I’d recommend using some LED Strips, such as the ones below, around the edge of the speedo casing. This will ensure that the light is evenly distributed behind the dials and you don’t end up with dark spots. http://www.componentshop.co.uk/leds/led-strips/standard
  4. I know this thread is a few weeks old now, but if you haven't already purchased a cable then it may be worth checking out Horsham Developments. http://h-dev.co.uk/product/nistunediagnostic-cable/?v=79cba1185463 It's a bit pricey compared to what's available on eBay, but this one was recommended by several member who have all confirmed that the cable works and is reliable. 5. Certainly worth trying. It won't cost you anything extra and you may be lucky and get away with it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. What Alic said... best to keep checking and topping it up a bit at a time until the level is right. That way you're taking into account any fluid that is left in the box/converter. Sounds to me like the box has been overfilled. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Was that just a fluid change with the box still on the car or did you have the box off and drain the torque converter? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Does anyone know if an aftermarket TT steering wheel hub/boss is compatible with a NA model? I know the NA doesn't have HICAS and that you can get different kits specifically for them, however I've come across a good second hand TT hub. If it would work, and still cancel the indicators, then I may as well save myself some pennies. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I'm puzzled by the brakes. As far as i'm aware the R32 GTR has the same Sumitomo brakes as the Z32. Pretty sure Brembo brakes only came (from the factory) with the R33 GTR onwards.
  10. While I’ve done a ‘reasonable’ amount of reading up on the Z32, I’m well aware that there’s still plenty about these cars I still don’t know. Looking at the pictures I didn’t think it was what they had claimed, but it did get me wondering if such a car existed? Like the Z32 equivalent of a Nismo 400R…
  11. Afternoon all, Just been doing the usual rounds on eBay, Gumtree, etc. when I came across this zed. Now, I’m cautiously putting up a thread about a car for sell. Although, given what I’ve been reading lately this may bite me in the arse… :whistling: Anyway, it’s a genuine question, born out of my own curiosity. The advert (below) makes reference to a “Nismo factory development” 300ZX. Now I’ve never heard of such a beast, nor have I ever heard of a “300ZX XL” Can anyone offer up any information here? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-300ZX-Nismo-Development-Car-Build-number-5-/192048075151?hash=item2cb6f5118f:g:IEsAAOSwcUBYSEsm
  12. I carried out a history check before i purchased the car, which revealed that the clocks had already been changed a few years back. Because of this, and a lack of documentation, the car's true mileage is unknown. I've made a note of what was showing on the JDM clocks before they were removed, as well as what was on the UK clocks when they were installed. That's for my benefit more than anything else. Given the car's condition, the fact that it's an NA Auto, and it has been an insurance write off (thanks to my little mishap earlier this year) I'm not worried about the resell value or how the MOT history will look to a perspective buyer. My plan is to keep the car for as long as possible before it get to the point where it is no longer economical to keep it on the road. Hopefully by that point i'll have a TT that will benefit from an NA rear diff and UK clocks. :whistling:
  13. Well spotted. The first picture was taken a couple of weeks ago as I didn't bother to take a picture yesterday, before I started taking things apart. I put that picture up just to show how it looked. When swapping the dials I decided to keep the original JDM fuel gauge, as I wasn't sure if the UK one would correct itself and they had the same part numbers. Seemed the safest way to ensure a correct reading. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I tried emailing Mike a week or two ago and didn't get a reply. Perhaps someone else can advise on what is the best way to contact him, if Mike is currently taking orders?
  15. The car is a NA so the boost gauge isn't going to be doing anything, at least not for the foreseeable. With a bit of luck the next one will be a TT, although there's no telling when that will be :innocent:
  16. Had a look on google and haven't seen another one like it. I thought that would be the most likely explanation.
  17. Evening all, I was reading a thread the other day about steering wheels which got me thinking about my own. Every other series one wheel I’ve seen appears to be wrapped in leather, whereas mine isn’t. Now has someone ‘peeled’ my steering wheel or do I have a budget version or something? Here's some pictures so you can see what i'm talking about.
  18. Welcome to the club. I owned a rev 4 MR2 which I sold to make way for my Zed. Regret selling it if I’m honest. It was a fantastic car and I wish I could have kept both of them.
  19. Today I installed the UK dials I received from Dan. I decided to swap over the white casing and the clear plastic screen (for use of a better word) as my JDM one was in better condition. That way I also keep the white led illumination. Here is a picture before. And here’s a picture after. I was pleasantly surprised that swapping the dials went without a problem. First time in a while I’ve been able to say that about my Zed. Then again, I’ve had a bit of practice!
  20. Not particularly exciting but I replaced my rear brake pads today. Also cleaned the glass and removed the glue that was left on my windscreen from a parking ticket... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Gutted for you Dan, especially after all the work and effort that has gone into your Zed. As many others have said, it's good to hear that no one was hurt. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. That’s hilarious. Who in their right mind is willing to spend £500 on circa 26-year-old factory speakers?
  23. I've you're going to the trouble of doing it again with your leather shifter then i'd be interested in a write up.
  24. Nice mod. I was considering doing this myself but I have learned to live with my shifter. I was also considering making a leather boot which I thought would help cover up the ‘ugliness’. If I come across a cheap shift mechanism I may try something like this one day. Anyway, well done. It looks good.
