  1. I’d send it to him if it wasn’t for the fact my zed is my daily driver. Can’t afford to be without it for the several days it would take to get it there and back via the post.
  2. Your dials look great Mondo, what did you wire the led strips to and are you able to dim them? At the moment I’m leaning towards LEDs over plasma dials. I need to take the speedo out to convert it to MPH and I’m thinking that whilst I’m doing that I put in some LEDs and also tackle the pods. The light behind the climate control display has died and I’d like to get that sorted. Groover, saw some threads last night regarding LED conversions and the one’s you’ve done look fantastic. Especially like the fact you have different lights for the arrows etc in the pods.:thumbup1: Could you direct me to any write ups you’ve done on the LED conversions, was searching last night but couldn’t seem to find them.:confused1:
  3. I’d be interested to hear how you go about doing this and what you think of the end result.
  4. Glad to hear your experience was a positive one. Did you have to glue the dials in place, or have any trouble refitting the needles? That reminds me… I keep forgetting to PM you about a set of 99 spec rear lights
  5. Thanks for all the input guys. Hadn’t given much thought to how they are fixed in place. Assumed they would be held in around the sides, didn’t considered that they would need to be glued. For now I may just look at replacing the bulbs in my speedo to try and eliminate the ‘dark spot’ I have going on. Also going to remove the MPH sticker. It’s a quick fix while the speedo is coming out for the MPH conversion. Currently looking at LED’s for the pods either side of the dials. The factor bulbs appear a little dull – or I’ve just been spoilt by the ‘modern’ cars I’ve been driving.
  6. I emailed them and they said they could make them go up to 180 and put MPH instead of KMH. Sounds exactly like what i'm after. Just wondered if anyone could shed some light on the quality.:confused1:
  7. They're a bit more subtle than those http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-300ZX-Z32-plasma-tacho-illuminated-glow-gauge-tachoscheibe-plasma-dials-/131427974498?hash=item1e99b7bd62:g:cYwAAOxykUZTiHQT
  8. Having owned my Zed for (almost) 3 weeks, I’m now beginning to think about mods. I have a few ideas in mind, in particular the dials. As it stands, I have the standard KMH dials with blue illumination. Now, I have two main issues with said dials. Firstly, there are dark spots where the light doesn’t evenly cover the back of the cluster. Secondly, there is a MPH sticker in the middle of the dial (despite still being in KMH) which is lifting. After doing a bit of digging, I came across a company in Poland called Moman who make plasma dials. They said that they’d be able to make a set which says MPH and (going by the pictures) they look pretty good at night. I’ve had a search on the forum and it looks like a few people have mentioned these dials before, I’m just wondering if anyone went ahead and purchased some, and what they thought of them? Thanks
  9. Thanks Andrew, I knew there were several different set-ups (including Bose). I was having a hard time trying to figure out exactly what i have :headvswal: I contacted the seller and they claim that the brackets include the 4 screws needed to attach the stereo. I should have some 4mm screws in the pack i just ordered
  10. Yes, metal brackets with oval speaker holes. Going by what I've read they're 4 X 6 speakers.
  11. Thanks for all the input. Going to stay clear of the cabin temp sensor, I don't want to mess with that if i don't have to! I didn't think there was much room around the top of the A pillar to mount a mic without bashing it with the sun visor every time i move it. Think the best thing to do is to get on with it and see what works. I may go with Joely P's suggestion and look at the mirror base trim. As for the rear speakers, decided i'm just going to cut the connector off and hope for the best. Worst case scenario, i have to run new speaker wires to the back of my head unit... Finally with the screws, i'll just buy an assorted pack and see what fits.
  12. As lovely as my zed sounds, not having a stereo installed is beginning to irritate me. I’ve ordered the usual bits and bobs and I’ve been looking into how to install the stereo, but I still have a few questions… Firstly, can I install a microphone inside the reading light facing out of the vent? This looks like the perfect place for hiding a mic, but I’m curious as to why there’s a vent (see picture) and if I’ll be blocking a sensor, or something else I shouldn’t be messing with. Secondly, I removed the rear speaker covers yesterday to see what size the factory speakers are. Turns out they’ve been removed and I don’t have any speakers there! Looking at the connector (see picture) has made me wonder if the speakers are amped separately or if it’s going to be particularly troublesome to install using the car wiring. I can just cut off the connector and put the usual spade terminals in its place? Can anyone shed some light on this? Finally, as well as removing the head unit, one of the previous owners has also removed the brackets used to attach the head unit to the dash. I’ve ordered a set of brackets on eBay, however as they were not pictured, it’s unlikely they’ll include the screws. Does anyone know what size screws/bolts I’ll need to attach the head unit to the brackets, and then the brackets to the car? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks.
  13. I purchased the car from a member called John in the Manchester area, he got the car from Lee at LA Autos. I'm pretty sure another member had the car before he did...
  14. Discovered where I was going wrong with the picture. Didn't realise you had to subscribe in order to post pictures without using a third party site. Hopefully this has worked. Indeed the car is a silver NA Auto!
  15. Thanks everyone. Picture is taking longer than expected. Mainly because I can't see how you attach it... Will look for the FAQ/help section later and post a picture as soon as I can!
  16. Hi everyone, It has taken me almost a week longer than I intended, but I finally have a chance to introduce myself on the forum. Whilst I'm new, I've done a bit of searching and it's safe to say that a few of you will recognise the car... Last week I traveled up to Manchester to buy my fairlady. I've wanted a Z32 since I was about 13 (give or take) and so far I haven't been disappointed. There are a few odd jobs I'd like to do and I may dig up a couple of old threads. For now i just wanted to say hello! Pictures to follow shortly. James
