  1. Here's my take on this and I am a little scared for the short to medium term future. When watching the build up to the vote it was concerning to note that 2 big hitters in the conservative party, Cameron and Johnson, were going head to head and contradicting each other. This clearly means that even the people best situated (the ruling party) to understand the ramifications didn't have a clue as to what would really happen. This on its own should have been enough to make people realise that change of this magnitude is nothing short of a massive gamble. Now you look at the results from Northern Ireland and Scotland and you see two countries being forced to leave the EU against their democratic will. Independence referendums will follow very quickly and we will see the United Kingdom divided. What we are seeing with Sterling now is a Northern Rock situation on a massive scale. Northern Rock would not have gone under if people hadn't withdrawn their money, but people withdrew their money because they had heard a rumour that the bank might go under. Sterling and the FTSE plummet for that very reason, investors banks and companies are pulling their investments out of Sterling just in case, which then makes the "just in case" happen. We don't really make anything in this country now we are an importing consumer nation. So if our currency is weak we pay more of it to buy things and prices go up. Crude oil is priced in Dollars, the pound loses ground against the dollar and fuel prices go up. Short to medium term there will be nothing cheap in this country anymore. It takes 2 years for article 50 to come into effect and David Cameron has said he will leave it to his successor to invoke it. If we are lucky we might start the 2 year process to sort out trade agreements in 6 months time. Anyone going abroad for a holiday this year will find it significantly more expensive over there. Anyone with any investments in anything other than Sterling will lose ground. This means everyone's pension pots, endowments ISAs etc will be worth less. Meanwhile back at the ranch the ruling party is divided and it's leader has resigned, the opposition is calling for a motion of no confidence in its leader. And Nigel Farrage wants to have a bank holiday, secure in the knowledge he can say whatever he wants because politically it doesn't matter as he will never be in power. Individually people are smart, collectively we are stupid. As a nation today we have voted to gamble everything, to divide our country and to oust our leadership. Don't get me wrong there were and are many things wrong with the EU, but no one now knows what is going to happen and because of that uncertainty the rest of the world will financially draw back from us to wait and see what happens. I rejoice in democracy but I fail to understand why such a decision was placed in the hands of people who cannot possibly understand the consequences. The next 10 years are going to very hard and the 10 after that will either be incredible or a disaster. Take your pick and place your bets because no one knows. And that is the truly scary part about this.
  2. Hi Guys In the interest of balance some positive facts about Noel. My latest "I'm in trouble with the wife again" purchase was the purple beast. Loads of receipts for loads of mods, but the engine ran like a bag of shite. The original idea was to get the engine running properly to see if it was worth it then pull it to go in my shortie. For £300 Noel drove for nearly 2 hours to get to me then spent 6 hours working on the car. I'm not an expert at reading maps but even I could see it was massively over fuelling. Also discovered stuff such as the rev limit set at 9200. Noel had the list of mods to go on, but no dyno. Car had a knackered Lambda sensor and the knock sensor wasn't working. Noel loaded a map he had for a similar spec car (producing nearly 550bhp) then wound it down so it wouldn't eat itself. The car is at a friends garage at the moment, Adam specialises in performance vehicles. Butt Dyno says 400 to 450 bhp car is incredibly responsive even in its wound down state. Both Adam and I were very impressed with Noels knowledge, ability and determination to make it run right. I take people as I find them and have no hesitation in saying I would use Noel again. Money well spent! I have spoken to Jeff twice on the phone once just before he retired and once some 15 years ago on a failed attempt to buy a Zed. Both times I was impressed with his knowledge and his friendly honest manner. it is a shame I didn't have chance to meet him the flesh. There you go said my bit from my experiences
  3. Nothing to say other than I am deeply sorry for you mate.
  4. I thought we were playing Badbit Bingo I nearly called "House"
  5. I like that. I think the other main colour in there should be either black or chrome so polish or powdercoat:thumbup:
  6. Not sure as those are the pics from the guy I bought it from. I have a friend who has something similar and we just know it as the Mercedes Dictator :lol::lol::lol:
  7. Helmet :: 2016 Nissan 300ZX UK LWB TT Auto (2016-05-26 23:56:03)
  8. Couple of updates Noz came saw played runs really well on just a base map, engine is really good. Adam (garage friend) says he can weld it properly and MOT for £1000, obviously if it goes back on the road service and belt kit are a bit more. Finally now has a name - it's been christened "helmet" by my friend due to the shade of purple. Now not sure what to do :helpsmilie:
  9. you've lost that loving feeling....
  10. I feel the need..........
  11. I've read this thread with varying emotions and as with several other people feel compelled to comment. My take on the situation is as follows. The 300zx lends itself to 3 guises in my opinion (only my opinion guys) 1-Absolutely standard as it came out of the box, a soon to be future classic and should be treated as such (you wouldn't rag the tits of your e-type, well all right some of you would!) 2-Close to standard with few mods such as wheels, maybe leather interior, exhaust etc. These are the cars that I think people enjoy the most on a regular basis. With the most driveability. 3-Loud Shouty fire breathing monsters that will spit you sideways at the drop of a hat and fight you all the way down the road. I'm including anything over 450BHP in this and yes I know some of these cars are very driveable. The Zed works well for all of the above and is capable with the right mods of generating huge horsepower. However you have to accept that if you plump for option 3 you are pushing the limits and as such things will fail, most of these cars are pushing 25 years old now. The problem is we all want to spend £5000 to compete with a £50,000 car. I do accept that traders shouldn't walk away from problems, and on a forum like this people will vote with their feet. But as they say "you can't please all the people all the time" Customer service is how you deal with the problems not how you deal with sales. I feel very much for people who have a problem with their pride and joy, but until now the posts and threads I have read on here all have a camaraderie about them which is definitely missing here. Whilst the forum is a great place to air views and comment, do we not think this has turned into a bun fight. As a foot note I own an option 3, and yes it is currently broken, but that was always in mind for me (bought a more powerful engine to transplant which of course at some point I will break as well) However funds allowing by the end of the year I hope to own an option 2 as well.
  12. I'm having some Tee shirts made! Does anyone want one? :whistling:
  13. Holy Crap I'd better hope it's a bad as I think. Seems like I might be able to break it fairly easily then lol
  14. What I'm going to do is get over to my friend (a real mechanic with a garage and everything) so he can have a proper crawl over it. The worst case scenario is he says it only needs £500 for an MOT then I will have a dilemma. Which I don't believe for a minute! What I'll do is start a thread and everyone can dibs what they want. So Bumpers - Pig Suspension - Omgitsalic the rest will hopefully be up for grabs
  15. I'm just waiting for you lot to notice the Navan shifter
  16. Yep! Its rotten underneath, but I want the engine then I'll part out the rest. The engine should be good for 550bhp I reckon. I need to go and see Noz
  17. I got into trouble again today. Bought this!
  18. Damn Absolutely gutted for you mate. But the really important thing is that you got to go home. As horrible as it seems it could have been worse. Is there anyway you can find out who the insurance company sold her to and maybe do a deal with the breaker?
  19. I love the fact that the "penis extension" is parked outside an adult shop. Now don't get me wrong I'm not saying certain sort of person drives Supras......honest.......:whistling:
  20. He never drove the Zed. The orange one was scenery and the black one driven by a baddy. I remember clearly as it was mentioned as one of the few things faster than the Cossie
  21. For those of you who remember the TV series Spender with Jimmy Nail Saw it - wanted it - didn't know what it was Couple of episodes later Wanted one ever since Quite simple really Like me!
  22. I thought someone had bought this yet it's back up at no money The ad says £495 at the time of posting http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-NISSAN-300ZX-FAIRLADY-3-0-TWIN-TURBO-AUTOMATIC-IN-SILVER-SPARES-OR-REPAIR-/272186913579?hash=item3f5f9ab32b:g:-vUAAOSwZtJW9YQQ Anyone know what the story is?
  23. Hi mate I had exactly the same with mine and suffering from and extreme lack of patience/ idiocy/ beer I attacked them with my leatherman. They are a lot harder to break than you think. 10 minutes and all was good. These cars are a real rollercoaster ride but don't lose heart they are worth it. I'm sure if it does all go tits up some one on here will have some.
  24. New owner it was in Leicester when I saw it. Someone has bought it and realised I reckon
  25. And it's back again!! https://www.gumtree.com/p/nissan/nissan-300zx-twin-turbo-manual-430bhp-/1159733395
