  1. The problem for me is people's attitudes mate, they should all be happy I'm actually saving her, and seemingly to a better standard than at least some of the "reputable" traders. I don't think I should be getting grief for that, or my budget, or what price I bought my zed for, etc. This place should be about the cars, without the elitist bull. It's not as if these cars are hard to work on, yet it seems to be frowned upon that I'm doing it myself and keep finding issues caused by shoddy work.
  2. No, it's down to how I'm spoken to by some. Somehow I'm the bad guy for finding fault in someone's work. I couldn't care less who did the work on the car, if it's bad then it's bad. Too late to do anything about it other that put it right again. I just feel for Dave since she's set him back thousands over the years and I'm now doing the work again. I only made a short comment, since this place is a forum, a place for discussion, and I simply suggested there were better places to take your car.
  3. Thanks Ian, and people wonder why I haven't subscribed yet. :(
  4. It's just a bit odd that I found things pretty much everywhere they've been. But nobody's going to admit to anything anyway no matter how many people I ask. All I'm bothered about is fixing it. :)
  5. That's true, though Dave hasn't said anything about anyone else working on it. All I can do is trust what he says, and fix what I find. :)
  6. And like I say, I've heard it's not Jeff who was the problem.
  7. Like I say, I'm not guessing. I've got 12 years of receipts showing who did what. And also, like I say it doesn't matter, I am simply getting on with fixing her, that's why I've been quiet on here since buying her. I simply made a quick post suggesting that it's not that big a shame that zedworld no longer trade since I've seen some of their work.
  8. I've been in communication with Dave all along since buying her to keep him updated, along with showing pictures. He's shocked and saddened at the state in which they left it, but happy that I'm putting her right. It makes no difference how long someone is a member, a long serving member can still have bad work done and not know it. He didn't do the work himself, he trusted zedworld with it and I've found plenty of issues, end of story. If people don't want to accept that then so be it, but as she was, she was a fire hazard with live wires left exposed between the carpet and shell, the boost controller plumbed into the balance bar causing boost spikes, numerous wood screws all over the place, plenty of places where they didn't even bother using connectors and simply twisted together instead, smashed spigot rings, etc. None of it wear and tear, all done by negligence.
  9. She had plenty of little bits, yeah. Mainly shoddy wiring behind the dash, with plenty of bared wiring, broken plugs all over the place, broken trim where they've used wood screws to put it back together, broken dash mounts, etc. I've taken pictures of everything as I've found them, so when I get enough time I can look through the history to see for definite who's done what. Not that it matters too much, once she's right she's right. But other than the rust, none of it was what you'd consider wear and tear, it's down to rough and shoddy work to save a few minutes instead of doing things properly.
  10. It appears to be a factor in this case. Nothing that can't be fixed though.
  11. That's fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion. Like I say I'm only going on what I've heard and the work I've seen with my own eyes on my own car. I just feel sorry for Dave spending as much as he did for all the work over the years. But hopefully when I'm done, the car will be spot on.
  12. Let's just say the majority of work done on my car was by zedworld, and I've had to fix most of it. I heard that Jeff did indeed do a good job, but he tended to let his son loose on them and that's where the bad work came from. I don't know the full story, only heard rumours, but looking at the work done on my car over the years it rings true somewhat. I've only owned my zed for a week, and I've spent most of it fixing things. I'll leave it at that.
  13. Their website even redirects to powerzed. From what I've heard/seen, zedworld weren't the best option anyway it seems.
  14. You could use a speedometer app on a smartphone, as most of them also show the distance travelled. It's what I do when calibrating skyline speedometers.
  15. Langdon4x4 on eBay sells good ones for a very good price. The majority of traders, like conceptua, etc, sell the exact same part (most just buy them from this seller) but double the price claiming they're rare and hard to get hold of. If your hicas is hydraulic, you need r32 bits. If it's new enough to be electronic hicas, the hicas arms are r33 ones instead.
  16. They were awful, but I've seen them do worse over the years. They lie about selling the cars quite often too, they claimed they sold the skyline for a good chunk of money, but instead it ended up at jdm garage getting broken. I got the headlights and had fitted them to my car just two days after the show first aired, a few other bits also went, and the rest of the car went over to France so somebody could pull the engine and gearbox. Had to laugh at how much they were ripped off throughout the show too. The "massive" intercooler for example, hardly any bigger than the standard side mount, and paid over 300 quid for it second hand. Whoops.
  17. You can watch it again on catch up, it's available already.
  18. Can't say I've used the one you've bought, I have one of these ones since my laptop is old enough to still have a com port, and have had no issues: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=251907309028&alt=web And like I say, the ecutalk software is a free download. There's other consult software available, such as conzult or datascan, but to get full functionality you have to pay for full versions. This then allows you to also look at hicas, etc.
  19. The consult cable can be had off eBay cheap enough, and the ecutalk software is a free download, a quick Google will get you onto their webpage and be able to download it.
  20. Ah. :( At least I've heard nothing but good things about Jimmer, so fingers crossed you'll have no more issues.
  21. How come it hasn't just gone back to the people who built it last time if it's only been 500 miles? Is there no kind of warranty for their work?
  22. I remembered it had zed in the name, along with a five letter word. I knew it was one of them. :D Who are the other ones then?
  23. Thanks guys, must've got them mixed up. :)
  24. I was under the impression that Jimmer is zedworld? Is that wrong?
