  1. I used my new toy to do a few checks. This morning, startup temp was 26°C. 5 minutes later after gentle poddling to the M25, it got to 80°C and just about stayed there whether at 70mph or crawling in traffic. Maybe up to 81°C. Yesterday, the weather was sunny and hot and the running temp round the M25 to Kent was 81/82°C. When the M25 carparked and we crawled for an hour or so, it peaked at 85°C. After the traffic started again, wasn't long before back to 81°C The OEM needle stayed where it normally is and that is a smidge under horizontal (eg midway). Bear in mind this is with stock NA. I know the TT has an additional fan to cope with higher heat load. Also, I once read (on this forum I think) that the stock gauge doesn't read out what the temperature actually is. It's more like: too low, getting warm, within normal operating range, too hot. So you wouldn't see any movement from the "just about horizontal" even if the temp was wandering about as long as it was wandering within the limits that Nissan programmed. Can't find the link so this may just be the meanderings of a tired mind.
  2. This was at the weekend do does it count? Finally got round to mounting my ECUTalk so it doesn't rattle around on the seat / floor / wherever it's got to. Tripmeter, sensors, error code monitoring and speedometer so I don't have to convert the clocks. Harrumble. ECUTalk 1.pdf
  3. Oops too late. Still goes to show the old proverb was right

  5. These guys did the front end of my S6 in protective film (when they were in Ascot). They were doing a GTR in white matt vinyl at the time (might even have been this one http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/144800-magical-wrap.html#post1379475 ) and had a Ferrari in for detailing at the same time. Used to be on the same estate as Silver Bullet. They're now in Camberley http://www.valetmagic.com/vinylwrapping.htm
  6. In the meantime, I am sure people would like to be reminded about Joely P's group buy thread on this stuff and the original post that brought it to the forum's attention. I have no connection with either. (I mean either Wiring Specialties or Joely's group buy - I do have an obvious connection with the original post for the eagle-eyed to spot.) It's a shame our friends from across the pond can't spell Specialities properly but as long as they can knit looms properly, I'll forgive them that :euro:
  7. Si, just spotted this http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-23666551 and noticed Maybe they'd be up for a 300ZX 25th anniversary do to help the PR exposure both ways - perhaps have a word when you're down there? Cheers
  8. and Alan, Merrill, Wayne, Marie and Little Jimmy. Bit MOR for me but even rockers have a guilty pleasure in Crazy Horses :)

  11. You should find this in the passenger side footwell (it's the control box) and the remote is sitting on top of it. By a bit of googling you can find replacement keyfobs from US http://www.keylessride.com/order/chooseremote.asp?make=Nissan&remoteyear=1994&model=300ZX but since the remote uses a radio freq not legal in UK, I didn't bother. Just took it out and had a proper UK one put in. This was from a JDM Series 3 built Dec 1993 and as far as I can remember when I looked at the time, the remote access was the same in US and Japan. Later cars didn't always have this - my Series 6 doesn't. HTH, Cheers, Gio
  12. Morning - MJP (Mike Feeney) supplied the kit, cooler, hoses and mount for £180 in Sept 2005 http://www.300zxtt.co.uk/z1newoilcooler.htm HTH, Cheers
  13. You do need to be very careful (and Amazon aren't the only online shop that does this) and make sure you're buying from either the main site or a trader being hosted on that site. Your rights as a consumer come from the trader you actuallly bought from. If they're in EC, that doesn't let them off - you can get help here http://www.ukecc.net/ If you're one of those people who are concerned about the dominance of particular retailers or the amount of tax they don't pay, one piece of advice I heard and now follow is if the thing I want shows up on Amazon, I see if it's available froma trader, then find that traders's site and buy from them. They get their full margin instead of sharing it with Amazon (whose charges are enormous) plus they probably can't afford massive tax lawyers to get out of paying UK tax.
  14. Every single one of my Zeds had a proper, detailed (and photographed) cambelt change by Jeff / Zedworld and that's money well spent. Without it, you risk a lot more expensive noises! Look at some of the rogues gallery pics Jeff's found over the years (last one was damaged pulley, IIRC?).
  15. Coffs Harbour? Lucky bloke. Get the VBs in (after you've parked up for the day, of course).
  16. The "Rebuck Nissan" in the service book was taken over by Dan Perkins and now known as WLMG in Dover Road Slough. I used to get my first Z serviced there and they were OK (for a Nelson). The car looks a little tatty (missing steering wheel Z badge, leather, and the front wheels are the wrong way round but as far as you can see from the pics, looks not bad for the miles. Can't see what that "X" sticker in the window says. It's not RichardSmith's old red one is it? It's a UK car and, if it is as unabused as it looks, for £1,500 could be a bit of a bargain. To be honest, if I had the spare, I'd buy it myself to keep it stock!
  17. 1) If that was on the Yorktown Road Industrial Estate, that was my Green 2CV! That 2CV linked front rear suspension (idea borrowed by Lotus for their F1 car this year haha) meant you could achieve terrifying angles going round corners - terrifying for passengers who weren't used to it. 2) They did indeed. The Citroen Sahara. They simply took an engine/gearbox/wheels unit and turned it through 180 and stuffed it in the boot. http://www.carscoops.com/2013/07/twin-engined-all-wheel-drive-citroen.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Carscoop+%28CARSCOOPS%29 Even our navy bought some! http://www.citroenet.org.uk/foreign/slough/rn-pickup/pick-up.html (made in Slough)
  18. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C408658 £12,995 for a 2CV anyone? Might be the cheapest Bond car you can afford... That nudged a brain cell: someone bolted a Garrett T2 onto one http://www.2cv-il.org/english/Article2cvTurbo.html And how about this: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/05/26/franco-italian-relations-ferrari-f355-citroen-2cv-hybrid-w-v/ 2CV / F355
  19. Good to hear it. And at least my first one still appears in Zairs' avatar :)
  20. Here's one that sold for £109,950. http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/classified-ad-of-the-week-2011-04-18 If you think the DS (and if you pronounce those letters in French, they sound like the French for Goddess) was first shown in 1955, they were staggeringly advanced. Hydropneumatic suspension, didn't need a jack to change a wheel, single spoke steering wheel, digital speed display (ish), space-age looks, aerodynamic, very comfy ride. Limo choice of the French gov't and saved the life of Charles de Gaulle http://jalopnik.com/5928024/how-the-citroen-ds-saved-a-french-presidents-life Oh, and front discs and monocoque construction. Vive La France!
  21. Excuse me but can troublemakers not post on my threads. I dunno, took my eye off the forums for a couple of weeks and look who they let back in. That's the last time I ever go over to Slough to help someone look over a Zed. Moan moan. :glare: (hallo Si, just thought I'd better welcome you back properly :D )
  22. I fell across this just now http://www.wiringspecialties.com/wsprvgtofaze.html OK, they're in the US but they do make RHD ones.
  23. Hah! Amazing. Don't forget she was officially faster than Clarkson so it'll be good if she's brought back to life even in a donor shell. I trust you'll let everyone know when she's back. Best of British.
  24. This sounds a bit familiar - does it say anything about drive signature or signature collision? I took a 500GB HDD out of my laptop, put a new one in, got the new one working and booting OK, then put the old HDD in a caddy and guess what. The new PC couldn't see it. I could see it in the same caddy on other PCs and put other HDDs in the same caddy and the new PC would see them. Just not the old HDD in the caddy on the laptop. Hmmm. Then I found this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/after-installing-a-second-wd-1tb-my-book-drive/28fe3c13-713a-449c-ac4d-4f22d9f70f8e?page=1 and followed the DiskPart instructions and bingo the HDD came back online. There's a video here http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/the-disk-is-offline-because-it-has-a-signature/2e1f20c0-8fbb-4952-a789-a0f1578f1616
