Ta mate, got Moody Blues and Roger Waters lined up for later in the year to look forward to. Now, should I tell her Neil Young's on tour as well? Not a bad year for aging rockers...

Please Sign And Save Mallory Park From Closure By Goverment
OK there's no harm in signing the petition but if you really want to help, take note what the circuit themselves have said "Jason McClean, spokesman for the circuit, has e-mailed residents and supporters urging them to contact the borough council if they support racing and allied activities." There's more detail here http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/Mallory-Park-race-circuit-close-92-day-rule/story-18332746-detail/story.html#ixzz2Mygzt9Sr The local council (who are not trying to close the circuit, simply get either compliance with the existing permitted days agreement or have some proposals from Mallory Park to cover what they want to do (which is expand from 92 to 160 days of operation) are here http://www.hinckley-bosworth.gov.uk/press/article/1270/mallory_park The Mallory Park issue is nothing to do with Government, it's a spat between the circuit and some residents.

Kenwood Stereo Help
You're both right. The original factory head units were intended for use with the rear amp (at least those cars that had them - and Series 6s don't. S3 did and S1 JDM - again, at least mine did but that's not to say they all did. We know how consistent Nissan was!). On my S3, I had the rear channels of my Sony head unit turned way down for exact same reasons Richard found. But had I known this at the very beginning of 300ZX ownership, It would have saved an awful lot of headscratching and "wtf is this not working" and laying new rear wires and changing the connectors etc etc. I had a major fall out with at least one car audio supplier who couldn't get the rear speakers working and came up with all sorts of b*llshit about why not (thanks, Hendon Car Stereo). So even if people do change their rear wiring and bypass the rear speaker at least they know why and if they are OCD "keep it like stock" like me, at least there is a way of getting the original rear speaker setup working. I'd even have kept the OEM headunit had there been one.

Kenwood Stereo Help
And some non-Bose cars had rear speaker amps. You can spot this if you have two wires in the Nissan loom which don't seem to do anything (green/silver and a grey). As per the diags here http://www.300zxtt.co.uk/techaudio.html That's important because if you don't put 12v on the rear amp, it won't turn on and you think your rear speakers and/or your wiring is snafu and then you re-wire completely unnecessarily (I know - did it twice!).

Front number plate
Depends on what you mean by "tiny". But if not full size, then illegal http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_067666.pdf Some try to get away with the smaller size which may be permitted on imports if it is not possible to fit full size.

Nice 99 spec
Hi Gary, yep, good point. Been a bit lazy. Will try harder this year :) Have this moody natural light (well, pub car park sodium but you know what I mean) to be going on with.

Nice 99 spec
Now there's a co-incidence! Another slight error in the ph ad "THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST MOST ORIGINAL 300ZX ON OFFER IN THE UK TODAY." - Apart from mine, that is hahaha. Yep, that's one of Sudesh's 2 silver Zeds. If it's in as good nick as it was when Gary & I saw it, it's a cracker.

Extending wireless network, help
I've used powerline devices for years with few problems even up to HD video speeds (the last ones I used gave 100Mbps+ in my home). This is both simple ethernet type (using mains instead of ethernet) and also ethernet one end and wi-fi the other. Steams post made me go back and look at the instruction manual again (always a good idea) and the manual os for the etherner both ends NOT ethernet one end and wi-fi the other. So either the manual is wrong or you haven't bought the wi-fi version. Sorry, should have spotted the manual info before.

Extending wireless network, help
1) what happens when you type the default gateway address into your web browser? (see p5 and p21 Default Gateway IP address = 192.168.1.105)? 2) on your laptop, when you look at the wireless connection icon in the taskbar, what wireless network does it think it's connected to? Your PowerGrid or somewhere else? Bear in mind that the wi-fi network being provided by the PowerGrid is not the same one as your normal one. So when you are in the zone where the PowerGrid works, you will need to disconnect from the main one and connect to the PowerGrid. And when you move back to the main one, vice versa.

never having had one , how do you guys launch an Auto
erm, possibly trying to get a huge tank like that to do 0-60 faster than 6 secs? With most modern autoboxes, just tromp on the loud pedal and let the millions of deutschmarks spent by AMG and Merc researching their engines and autoboxes to do their stuff.

Ferrari and bad losers
I think they should bring in a 10 second stop-go penalty for being German. Could have done with that in Schumacher's day as well.

UK 300 looking good
Front wheels are the wrong way round as well. Would that knock a few quid off the price?

Ferrari at it again !
Now that's an intelligent point. The FIA clearly think the latter (otherwise they would have sanctioned someone). But to me, there is a difference between exploiting the rule book to the dot and comma (which I think Ferrari did in this instance and Brawn did with the double DRS and Vodafone with the F-duct) and the wing thing. The wing thing exploited a badly designed test (not rigorous enough) which did not fully test that the wing was not flexible under race conditions - which was what the rule was for. Certainly it flouted the spirit of the regs and somewhere there is a comment that the rules must be read in spirit as well as letter. But I can't find it and the FIA think I'm wrong anyway :D

Ferrari at it again !
Apart from the fact that Ferrari's ploy was (this time) nothing to do with the FIA, if you were holding the can for the team performance, what would you have done? Be nice to your competitors or do everything you can to maximise your No 1 driver's chances (remember the no 2 was not in contention for the championship at this time.)? Use the rules and f*** the rest is exactly the attitude a team leader should have. And yes, team orders are race fixing. But the point is F1 is a team sport not an individual driver sport. The competitors are the teams for which the drivers, er, drive. The entrants to the competition are the constructors. Being clever enough to use the rules to your advantage is not cheating. Unlike making your front wing flex but designing it so it's stiff in the tests - that's cheating (clever, but cheating).

Fairlady and My Fair Lady
Yep and here is one from andyzx's thread There was one on eBay a few days ago at 6.5k from memory.

Ferrari at it again !
F1 has always been a team sport. Alonso has completely changed my opinion of him since he threw his toys out of the pram at McClaren and waltzed off. He's wrestled an uncompetitive car this season to within a gnats of a championship - he'd have been long gone in the fizzy drinks mobile. Now Ferrari (who I don't much like) are in F1 to win. If you were the boss of two people would you be "fair" to your acknowledged number 2 or do anything legal to keep your No 1 in the hunt? Of course you would. Well done to them for a cheeky use of the rules. Better than the flexible wing and rotating wing cheat used by *ahem* you know who.

What would be your ultimate modification?
1) Take a TT manual (pref SWB slicktop but anything really) down to the last nut and bolt, clean, repaint, replace every dodgy connector, loom, seal and put it back together as stock as a very stock thing (allowable S2 PTU for S1, S1 a/c control replace S6, factory halogens, S6 brakes etc etc). Mid grey or dark silver (S6)or that burgundy red. Underseal, wrap, polish, drool. 2) That ASC hardtop conversion referenced by Gary above 3) Stillen racecar - still makes my heart skip a beat everytime This year, I'll just settle for being able to afford another tankfull!
