Yeh, slow colour ain't it? lol :D :D - Gio
  3. Thanks, gents Mark: the timing belt was replaced at 71,300km which is 44,000 miles (the first job I had done on import just-in-case). More details here: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18065&highlight=timing I got info from the estimable Mike Feeney that Which means I need to replace before 44k + 50k = 94k miles. I'm at 147,000km = 91.3k miles so I need to do something within the next 2,700 miles. Makes sense to you? Simon: yes I agree replacing them all while the timing belt is being done is a good idea. But the price differences I found are so barking mad that I am not yet convinced they are the same parts. eg is Nissan UK really cheaper than the US on 13077 + A? And did you say that you had play in all three pulleys? Jock: yes, that's the kit I am investigating (well from ConceptZ or UK but the kit's the same - at least mostly). But there are at least two parts called "tensioner" and it isn't clear which is which. Some advice says only replace what you need and others say get everything done while you're there. Hence the questions! :D Cheers - Gio
  4. Thanks guys, I'd sort of suspected this was a supercession thing and that the latest number (as given by Jeff) was the only relevant one. Anyone got contrary ideas? Cheers - Gio
  5. Like an Exocat? nooooo try a dustbin and pepper first otherwise Dubya will come round looking for your WMD*! lol :D *Weapons of Miaow Destruction
  6. As previously warned, I've now got two questions about pulleys - which ones should be changed when doing the second timing belt change (i.e. it had one 45,000 miles ago and is now due for another one at 90,000 miles). To start, here's the diag The 3 pulleys are marked yellow and the numbers are marked with red. 13077 + B is included in the kit and some people recommend replacing the other 2 as well particularly if the car is over 10 yrs old. The 2nd Q is can anyone help me sort out the numbers and prices? As you can see from this list, the prices are all fubared. The centre top one is OK But the 13070M assembly is $120 or so vs a UK list of £232. Usual rule of thumb is price in dollars = price in squids. This is twice that. And the passenger side (UK) idler pulley is $170 or so in US but only £40 or so in UK. Shurley shome mishtake? Can anyone shed any light on which ones should be changed and which of the parts/prices I found are right? Thanks in advance - Gio
  7. Now before anyone starts, I did check on the search and read through nearly all of the 103 posts including the words "timing belt" in the past year AND checked the parts catalogue on http://www.300zx.lv AND looked at Courtesy who don't exactly help as they make up the last half of their part numbers. hehehe lol :D The question is are there different timing belts for Japanese 2+2 TTs to UK or US. The question arose because that's what the Nissan dealer said a few years ago. He fitted 13028-45P25 The timing belt as any fule kno is the bit indicated 13028M on this here diag if it comes out When I try to put this into the parts database it uses 13028-45P86 It appears from the parts database that 13026-16V00 is superseded by 13026-45P00 which is superseded by 13026-45P25. Which is the right one or are they all the same? TIA - Gio (if you think this is convoluted, wait till you see the q about the three pulleys marked 13077 on the same diag!)
  8. quick nurse, the screens......
  9. Hallo Neil - I found one other site (as it happens in Thailand) but it deffo lists Erglanz wheels as a range from Bridgestone wheels. http://www.cockpitonline.com/product_service_w2.asp?model_id=17 Their e-mail is down the bottom and is at least in English so if Bridgestone can't help, maybe these guys can. Us airport chaps gotta stick together! Cheers - Gio
  10. And in reverse order B service 172..8 A service 105.32 24 month C service 175.08 All these include consumables and VAT) (the C was last year so I guess their labour rate went up!) HTH - Gio
  11. Nelson, Nissan dealers should operate to menu pricing so you could start by ringing your local to find out. Of course, this will be the most expensive but should give you a price to come down from! From memory, the Services run ABACABACA etc with A being minor and C being the biggy - which I guess would be the equivalent of 60k miles. But I've got a Jap so they're based on km and it doesn't compare exactly. HTH - Gio
  12. I've had a wander around and it seems as if they are owned by Bridgestone and their site has got Bridgestone on it in places. Might it be worth contacting Bridgestone in the UK to see if they can help. (couldn't find an e-mail I could understand tho' sorry :( ) HTH - Gio
  13. OK MAC 1 but just because it's you, oh senior one, here's a few suggestions: http://www.bins-n-benches.freeserve.co.uk/dustbins.htm http://diytools.co.uk/diy/Main/Subcategory.asp?CatID=7&SubID=1 http://www.tmac.clara.co.uk/urgring/faqcats1.htm Hopefully something here will help! lol - Gio

  18. :p I don't appreciate dogs but I do realise millions of people do and fairplay to all the good dog owners out there which I am sure includes everyone here. Anyone who can really contemplate cruelty to animals or humans is, IMO, less-than-human. Join the RSPCA http://www.rspca.org.uk or if you are much more fond of birds than cats try http://www.rspb.org.uk. And, just while checking these links, I just got sickened by this on the RSPCA site http://www.rspca.org.uk/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=RSPCA/News/NewsFeature&articleid=1049711311927&newsmode=normal&marker=1 I was about to post some of the other stuff but it really is revolting. Look after your dogs, look after your kitties, look after whatever else you've got and make the world a fluffier / scalier / finnier / feathery-er (!?) place. Meep - Gio
  19. Good Lord, Picts, Scots, Celts, Saxons, Angles. Jutes, Normans (Normen?), French etc etc etc. We ARE Europeans. The amusing thing is how many people haven't clocked it yet. I found something strange when in Frog land. Visting vineyards in Chinon (hic). Went round a castle - actually the one where Joan of Arc appealed to the Dauphin but that's another story - and tripped over a grave stone set into the ground. Henry 2nd - or Henry Plantagenet (keep up at the back there). The French think that he was king in France. But we know hime as English. It was only in the 16th Century that we (the Europeans living in England) lost our last possessions in France (to the Europeans living on the continent.) Oh, and Nissan is now run by the French! We have to be in Europe to split the French from the Germans and make certain that we get a fair crack. Cheers - Gio
  20. hahaha ROFL One of our neighbours had a soppy border collie. She had to retire from the farm when she was 1yr old as she was frightened of sheep. :D Altogethr now, say "aaaaah"

Welcome back - bloody long way to swim if you ask me. Cheers _ Gio
  22. Just to be nitpicky, strictly speaking your car has to be MOT-abl;e at all times. Just because your car's got an MOT certificate, this doesn't get you out of trouble if you subsequently have an MOT fault. The people who did mine have (somehow) got a couple of the brake lights to turn into foglights. I think JeffTT does this but his site doesn't say how and I can't find any other reference. Cheers - Gio
  23. didn't see it myself but the complaints were all about porn spamming so he got what he deserved. Cheers - Gio
  24. Hi mate, there's model guides, buyers' guides and more z-related info (including a list of insurance companies) here http://www.300zx.org.uk/model_variations.htm Say "thanks, AndyP" when you click! HTH - Gio
  25. http://www.mjpauto.com Mike Feeney is the tech advisor to the Z Club and parts supplier. I've never heard of the clonking noise you mention, though. Mike may have aideas of what this might be. Good luck - Gio
