  1. Whether it's "right" or not, I couldn't say (and is there a difference between NA / TT? - dunno) BUT the one I got from ATS last Oct seems to a) fit b) work a treat and c) spin the spinny thing faster than the old one so that d) the big complicated metal thingy under the bonnet starts to go vroom-vroom more quickly in the morning than it did before. ATS Ref 069FP Fiamm Premium Batt £58.68 + VAT = £68.95 Cheers - Gio

Oh and by the way Smithy knows his stainless pipes and clear indicators AND you have to do what Ajay says or a goth hangs around your front door until you give in... :D - Gio
  3. Thanks again, Paul - can this be measured on the car or do we have to dismantle it and get the spring(s) out? TIA - Gio
  4. OK Andy, you've convinced me - is there a parts list or "how-to" anywhere? (Sorry for hijacking Peter's thread but at least it's vaguely on topic :D ) Thanks - Gio
  5. Well it's for sale for $100,000 apparently. http://user.tninet.se/~bjx414c/jackesnissane.htm and its got a James Bond spinning reg plate! hahahaha And according to another site, it's got 530 bhp http://www.fantasycars.com/derek/cars/jakari300zx.html Barking mad these Swedes ;) Cheers - Gio
  6. Thanks Paul - is there an easy way of finding out which is the problem? I would get bored fixing the bushes then checking the alignment then fixing the shocks then checking the alignment then fixing the springs etc etc etc. Can anyone measure what bits are wrong or is that too simple an answer! :D
  7. I'd be interested in the answer to fat tony's Q as well. Same symptoms as Peter. So is it andyduff's hoses and valves or something far worse (turbos)? TIA - Gio
  8. My Nelson said that had sold all their 8 cars almost immediately. They were astonished that people would put £2k deposit down without seeing / driving a car. They said they would have a demo one in October... Cheers - Gio

The following is intended as a personal opinion only and not to kick off any argybargy. There are many more members here whose opinions I respect and read their posts with interest - I don't have time to list them all. They don't all agree with each other about technical aspects (come to that about anything else either :D ) and I am not qualified to say who is "better" than anyone else - you have to make up your own mind. Luke of the Z Centre is Technical Advisor to the Z Club for the 300ZX Z32. Mike Feeney (although he doesn't post here - just on the Z Club site) is also Technical Advisor to the Z Club. AndyP has built his own very comprehensive site of Z Technical info http://www.300zx.org.uk Warren (300z) has had more engines melt under him than anyone else I know. AndyDuff has a fearsomely impressive reputation and the record for the longest re-build ;) but it sure looks pretty. PaulC is a Merc spannerman. JeffTT runs his own workshop and has done bits and bobs on my car. Leonardo (PPS) is by all accounts the dogs danglies for paint (never used him personally). Lymon is a Dutch Z32 God (or Z32 God to the Dutch if you see what I mean) And Craig sits at the top of the pile! There are lots of others as well but I don't want to lol so will stop. Hopefully other positive opinions might arise - but I would ask that argy goes to Fight Club!! Gio (I think I'll leave the country now)

  11. Thanks guys, bloke at Dan Perkins Nissan seems to think that replacing the bushes is a good first step. This seems to be what most of you think too. Nissan and 300ZX.co.uk agreeing with each other? Blimey - well there's always a first time for everything! :D :D Cheers - Gio
  12. 'Course you should. Check out http://www.300zx.org.uk/ for lots more info and buyer's guides. I've had mine since Aug 1999 and (fingers crossed) never regretted it. What better bargain could there be? Cheers - Gio
  13. Hallo gurus and guru-esses – your advice is requested for a problem which hasn’t gone away of its own accord no matter how much I try to ignore it. Regular readers may remember that last year I had my wheel alignment checked but couldn’t get the front camber into spec. The people who checked it couldn’t offer much advice, Jeff TT’s visual inspection couldn’t see anything wrong and the dealer had no clue. I came across various versions of camber kits but couldn’t find out if these were just masking the problem rather than curing the root cause. So I did the sensible thing and ignored it hoping it would go away. During a service this week, the problem was rediscovered so I toddled off to Protyres in Slough who ran another alignment check with a big expensive laser machine (you can even see what they’re doing on the PC monitor in the showroom – v cool). They said that the front LH camber was out and (as we all know) there is no adjustment. The bloke said that the front LH is always the first to go because we turn left more tightly more often than we turn right. (Actually if you think this through ‘cos we drive on the left this seems vaguely logical.) His advice was that nothing seemed wrong underneath and that the cure would be to fettle the suspension one bit at a time till everything came back into spec. He said that if the springs and shocks hadn’t been replaced earlier in the cars’s life, they were probably about due for replacement anyway. They certainly haven’t been replaced since I bought the car in Aug 99 with 44,000 miles on the clock and that’s 3.5 years and 45,000 miles ago. So am I looking at new springs and struts all round? And what’s all this about bushes? I am more interested in keeping vaguely stock than achieving radical handling. Oh and by the way, she’s a Japanese 1990 TT 2+2 so doesn’t have these tricky 2 position UK / US struts. (What is the difference between a strut and a shock absorber, anyway?) Your words of wisdom are humbly awaited. Thanks in advance - Gio
  14. From the Enthusiasts Companion Later, the book says that the Turbo with spoiler has a Cd of 0.32 So the designers thought it necessary for high speed stability but that the car actually looks better without. Two interesting (ish) questions - how does this Cd stack up against other sportscars? And has anyone got a Cd figure for big winged cars? Cheers - Gio

Now he tells me! :D No actually, tho, I have heard this before. Just not before I ordered my new struts / spoiler hehehe learn something new everyday. I would guess that if you do this and the tailgate doesn't stay up, the struts are more probably u/s. If the tailgate does stay up, then the spolier may be waterlogged.
  24. Find out why brake light inop - done and even fixed :D Clean / lube aerial - done :D Throw toys out of pram at Vodafone - loaded and cocked Make pond cover - bits bought, sunny day awaited (so first thing tomorrow, then) Go to pub (again, again) Clean filter / pump so the poor little finny friends can breathe. Get up before 8am on Sunday to wait in all day for Comet to forget to deliver the new fridge we had to buy because the old one went *bleeeerrt* and stopped. :D - Gio
