  1. Strange that it should fail on a number plate as i thought they had suspended the number plate rules in the MOT due to the ministry of transport getting the wording wrong. Our RX8 passed the mot at a dealer with a highly mis spaced reg with no maker identifications on it. If they are telling you the plates need maker names on them they are wrong as this only applies to cars made after 2001. Probably a waste of a post really as a number plate is only a couple of quid!!
  2. I use them as i believe they are better if youve upped the boost. I change them every 1000 miles which at the moment is about once a year!
  3. Bummer about the head gasket, but im sure youll sort it. Isnt it cheaper to get a whole engine? Id offer to get my hands dirty but im a bit busy setting the shop up at the moment!!
  4. Handbrake adjusts ride stiffness, not ride height. Id wager its a snapped spring.
  5. Ford ranger and mazda B seris same motors. Ford and Mazda platform share (mazda has a financial interest inford) Nissan,LDV and Renault do too (well renault own nissan) Rover and Honda Used too. As far as i know Mitsubishi platform share on commercial vehicles with Mercedes Benz on vehicles such as the Canter / Atego etc And they platform share some of their cars with Volvo like the S40 and carisma. I know there is others but i cant think of them.
  6. No offence to the welsh but the people at DVLA know nothing about cars. My current zed has an engine size of 29998cc on the log book. The chasis is down as GC-2 not GCZ. We registered an FTO at work, and dvla decribed it as a moped! My last zed was blue, dvla registerd it as a red Z31!!! I tried to get it changed but didnt want it recorded as a colour change as it had never changed colour and i was correcting their mistake, i had to go to the dvla office, have the car inspected, show the "inspector" (a girl with a clipboard) that it was blue, pop the bonnet and boot to show her look, no red here, then i pulled up the carpet to show more blue, she ticked some boxes and i got a new log book. A fortnight later i HPI'd it to check they had done it right and it was all clear except one thing dvla put it down as a colour change, idiots. Thank god it blew up and i got my money back from the dealer on it cos id of never of sold it with a hpi report like that!
  7. I think tony is quite up on the mechanics of how a zed rad works, after all hes had 7 of them. If it is ATF tony you better get it sorted quick as water will be in the autobox too and that cant be good. Id wager that the previous owner will of banged loads of radweld etc in the water system if he was selling it hoping to temporaraly solve the problem, thus the shit in the rad. Cant you get someone to do a sniffer test on it tony? That will tell you if there is exhaust gases in the water. Ive got a mate thats got the kit if the motor will make it to Coventry.
  8. Takes me back to the days when a lad came into the shop i worked in and asked to buy a dump valve, I asked what sort of car it was, he told me an escort, an rs turbo? i asked, no a zetec he told me. I sold him some neons and a flashing gearknob instead!
  9. As for sgtC hes on the rx8 oc, well he was havent seen him on there for a bit, he was driving a brand spanking rx8 PZ last time i saw him which was at the first rx8 meet i ever attended, i belive he was selling it so may have moved on again since. Quite wierd to go to an rx8 meet and see people you know from 300 meets!
  10. asbestos hamsters are well documented on this forum, just do a search!! and if that doesnt amuse you search for speed holes!!!!
  11. Good to see you back in a zed tony, knew it wouldnt be long!
  12. not me, mines red, dont know anyone with a silver one around here.
  13. Just lure it out with more cheese, obviously!
  14. He is too busy with his stuff from WHSmith!
  15. But dont try to use an ordinary sandwich, as bread will block the oil filter.
  16. Could always buy a reliant robin!
  17. John dixon fitted mine, hes the best guy to ask. I fitted one to a gto a while ago and it was a piece of cake compared to the zed, on the zed you need lots of Y pieces and extra hose.
  18. I agree with greg, Bloody ell thats twice in a year!!
  19. Well i stand corrected! Jap ones are still nicer though.
  20. From memory i think they are, you just end up with a few spares when going fron jap to uk as the uks dont fold. Good luck!
  21. I didnt think mine had one untill id had it for about 6 months and dug through its service wallet, i found pictures of it in japan the titainium key and loads of reciepts for stuff in yen! Only J specs got the titainium key, ive got mine and the the red handled valet key and a spare too, i use the titanium key always, looks good on your keyring.
  22. If i were you id chop your old plug off the knackered mirror and scotch the new one on so that the new mirror ends up with 2 plugs , that way you will retain the old plug as well as not wrecking the loom on the car. Both clips should fit through the holes fine as i have a seris 1 but the uk mirrors fitted on it fine, i swapped them back for j spec ones after shrimpy binned his car!!
  23. it finds my chasis -1 and my chasis +2 all as 04/1991 but not mine or the one after it??
