Radweld and V shaped engines dont mix, check all your pipes for splits and cracks, you can get leaks on pipes that only happen after shut off as when the system is flowing it tends to suck air in instead of leak water out, when you shut off the extra air in there pushes the water out. If its not long had a cam belt surely the water pump and 2 short hoses would of been done?

Id bet on lazy 02 sensor, mine has one lazy 02 sensor and gets a bit sooty on boost from time to time most of the time its fine. Might be an idea to get someone to drive behind you see if the soot is from 1 exhaust or both.

Only problem with silicone is when you next wash your car, it will run down the glass and paint and make oily marks, the best way to minimise it is to apply the silicone on a cloth then rub it over a few times with a clean cloth afterwards, if you leave it even slightly wet dirt and pollen will stick to it.

Have you checked the autobox fluid level they make some funny popping noises if they get low, i found this out when i split an oil cooler pipe, 3 months later i had a new gearbox!

If you want to find a silly micra based car google a nissan scargo, its a K11 van that looks like a snail, its quite a unique little van! The figaro is a kind of hybrid (betwwen K10 micra and K11) built at the PAO factory in japan, they use nissan bits and are licenced / co owned by nissan, they also do the box like PAO model and the miniture s type jag one, i forget the name. I was quite pleased to find that our renault twingo is pretty much a K12 micra with a bit of french styling its even got the 1.2 TCE engine used in the K12 with a little turbo bolted on, so hopefully it will last a bit longer than previous renaults weve had.
