  1. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=103152
  2. Is that why ALL Nissan race teams used the 2+2 chassis when racing? lol ;)
  3. ..actually it was 10 - 15 minutes...found the thread here.. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=50649&highlight=long+leave+car+warm
  4. It has been brought up before a few times in threads like 'how long do you leave your car up type threads'. Ends up being about a page full of people praising themselves for leaving theirs for 30 mins to warm up...and yes, I think there was someone who'd leave their car to idle from stone cold for 30 minutes!!!... before the likes of me and Andy tell them they are actually ****ing their cars up before the thread stops dead in its tracks! LOL ;)
  5. Exactly. Pre-plan what you're doing, it's not difficult. If I have been boosting, then before I know where I am going to stop, I just drive at a regular pace. Similar to when I start the car from cold, but in the opposite order. I'll not bring my car on higher boost levels until the oil pressure has dropped to below the 1/4 marker.
  6. It's ok on cool down as the oil is less viscous (resistance to pour) and will have circuluated and would still be being pumped up at a reasonable rate. When an engine is cold, oil viscosity is much higher (I think engine oil when hot is like something like 60 centerstokes whereas when cold, it's over 100 centerstokes). Not to mention the fact that you also have no oil up at the top end of the engine. So, the oil pump is working very slowly on an engine with thicker oil on an engine with very little oil in the heads. Metal against metal!!
  7. As above! You're doing more harm than good. I never leave mine idling from cold. Makes me cringe to even think about it. Z's warm up very quickly anyway, so get in it and drive it and save its internals!
  8. It was pretty bitter when I left Portishead this morning, but it's far colder up here in Telford! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  9. It's actually OPEC that have put the prices up, not the government. As much as they do sting us with tax, they do absorb part of the fuel increase when sharp rises in barrel costs occur and we'd be paying a lot more otherwise.
  10. Might have been when the program was made.

Good job I don't work outside! I still hate the cold weather.
  12. Don't sell it then. I'd rather donate mine to a museum than let it go for pennies. LOL
  13. Always liked the vortex, not everyone's cuppa tea. I think they'd be perfect on a LWB, but I think the 5-spoke would be a better choice for the SWB, although, I'd look at getting one with a flatter spoke.
  14. If I had £10k to spend on a Nissan. It would indubitably be a 300zx (M30Z/Pentroof/SMZ/genuine 99-spec). The Skyline GTr as much of a great machine that it is, it just doesn't have that visual appeal that the Z32 does. The 4x4 system is probably about the only 'real' bonus it does have and the tune-ability. But since I am not wanting huge power out of mine, that holds no advantage. With the Skyline, you loose the t-tops, the sleek and sexy lines, the exclusivity of it, the driving position, the cabin plus that V6 burble, which IMHO, sounds so much nicer than the more droany straight 6. They cost nearly as much to fix, parts are of similar price. It's only the fact that you can leave the engine in situ to replace turbos/remove heads that's the main advantage.
  15. VG30 Cranks can take up to about 700bhp or something like that. It's the pistons that tend to weaken over time. Rods can bend too.
  16. Only messin'. If you do want to fit them to the car, then this might help... http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=101445&highlight=Fitting+BOV
  17. This is the one from the Steve Berry TG The wide arch hard top one has horrid front end on it.
  18. Sorry, but I just can't see where you're getting the whole 'it looks like a Z32' from. When I first saw it, it was 'Skyline', especially from the back. I don't think, what ever anyone says that I'll associate the two except for the badge.
  19. Be interested to know what the standard Nissan oil filter works to. Might be interesting to find a slightly different filter to filter to a lower micron rating. I guess OEM filters will filter down to about 40 - 50 micron. Finding a spin on filter made by Pall or Hydac could be good to filter down to 25 micron. Although if you go too low, you may end up filtering out the additives or blocking the filter up more quickly.
  20. The Skyline 2+2 is a coupe as well as the new GTR which is also a booted coupe rather than a hatch like the Z32, it also does not have t-tops AND it's not elegant and sleek. Yes, a 4x4 was considered with the Z32, but never made it to production, it did with the Skyline. I can't see the GTr ever being available in SWB or cabriolet versions either. I'd say other than the engine, it bares more similarities with the Skyline.
  21. That 'has' to be a piss take surely.
  22. Christmas food sucks. Turkey is dry and horrible (not to mention, wins a prize for the world's ugliest poultry), would sooner have chicken or do something different and have a pheasent, or goose or salmon or something. Christmas cake, christmas pudding and minced pies all make me urge. Horrible stuff. As for sprouts; awful, nearly as bad as peas. :hurl:
