  1. Incorrect. Oh grow some balls man! This is a constructive discussion on tyres. You seem to think that people are saying that Nangkangs are dangerous. No one has said anything of the sort, the discussion is about tyres that are merely better and offer better grip and better performance in braking conditions from proven testing. No one has said your Nangkangs are whatever you think people have said. Linglongs though....I'll draw the line that.
  2. Never is mate. Mine needs another polish, but it's pretty much as I'd hoped. I remember when I was less impressed with previous work and it does hit you in the chest a bit. Luckily, it's just the spoiler and end of the tailgate rather than the entire car as I was faced with once....twice actually, but one particular time I was really down about it. When you finally get it to the right level though, it's a great feeling. Taken me forever! Still a few tweaks I need with the suspension to be 100% as good as I'll get it. Just hang in there. As already mentioned, if you want help reassembling it, do let me know. More than happy to give up a Saturday or Sunday for a good cause. :)
  3. Awesome, thanks. I totally forgot about the sticker and just went on spec and review. My Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 are an A rated.
  4. Sorry to see and hear Nick. You seemed quite pissed off when you sent me the pics earlier. Not too sure what to suggest other than live with it for a while. You'll be like me though I think and will always be looking at it. Have a think about a TwinZ Type 1 or 2 later in the year. Get it back together and think a little more about it once it's all assembled, on the road and you're enjoying it,
  5. Interesting information Gary, thanks for posting, most I know about but still interesting. :) Where does the wet grip wear rating exist? I have struggled to find the detail on manufacturers' and test spec sheets and keen to see what's on it.
  6. On everything. I absolutely DETEST Vauxhall Corsas. I'd still fit decent tyres to it even if I was in the unfortunate position to have to own or drive one.
  7. Which makes today's top end tyres fantastic. I still don't get your argument. I agree that tyre technology has moved on......so fit top quality rubber. If I can shave off half a metre in an emergency breaking situation because the tyres I'm running have a higher grip rating than a mid or budget range tyre and that in turn saves the car or my life, then the cost becomes utterly insignificant.
  8. ....and this is why I'm not on that God awful page!
  9. Makes no less reason for high quality rubber not to be fitted.
  10. Not totally sure quite what you're trying to say here. Are you saying tyres aren't important? I fit top quality tyres to all my vehicles irrespective of worth. It has absolutely nothing to with any sort of snobbery. I thought you of all people would get that or maybe I misread what you meant.
  11. Just like I can't except the option of someone who also hasn't run high quality rubber on their Z. Seriously though. Linglong are a bottom of the barrel tyre. I certainly would NEVER entertain using such stuff. They are cheap for a reason. Why the hell would I want to 'try' something like that? They're pretty mediocre tyres, not bad, not good....something I really have absolutely no desire to fit and I strongly suggest folk fit better stuff than that. Maybe you don't drive your Z hard, I get that, to be honest, neither to do. But if presented with a situation where I either had to avoid a nasty situation caused by someone or something, or a child ran out in the road or whatever, I want to know that I have highest quality rubber and brakes in perfect condition. I don't see that that's anything to get rattled about. it's common sense.
  12. I can't believe we're talking about LingLong tyres on here. The mind boggles.
  13. Agreed. I'm actually working on a project with a company in Wales (Riversimple) who are developing a fuel cell vehicle manufactured from carbon fibre. Whilst it's no sports car, the technology is pretty awesome and I think that's where it's likely to go. GM's Hi-wire was one of the first that I thought would go somewhere, however I am sure they got paid off by the oil companies.
  14. I think what Elon Musk's Tesla and Space-X companies are doing are things that no one else is. Sure, the mining of hard-core for the batteries is neither energy efficient nor pollution-free, in fact quite the opposite, however battery technology is making huge advancements and all of this is progression. The drive train and technology in the units are pretty awesome. Long may it continue and long may the advances pick up speed. Batteries will become much more efficient, much longer lasting and much more green. As a human race, we can't keep burning foil fuels, there has to be progression. I for one love the combustion engine, its fun, exciting and much easier to access however it has had its day, just like the steam car, steam engine and now soon-to-be diesel engines.
  15. The point of it was to send something into space and for the boosters to be reused. The reason was to do it on a cost effective basis to prove that space exploration didn't have have the associated costs of regular manned missions. The main aim of the project was for the boosters to be returned for reuse. What better thing to sentd up than one of Elon's products from one of his other companies, a Tesla car. Might as well make it amusing too. :)
  16. They use them because they're cheap and they're going to last about 10 minutes. I've never seen any manufacturers offer tyres like Nangkangs as new fitment rubber. Car manufacturers are always the first to look for cost savings, but they never do that with tyres and for good reason. Even on maintenence contracts where they'll scrimp and save. Tyres like Nangkang are also fitted to every cheap £400 wheel+tyre package on eBay. They're a safety critical part of the car. I can't emphasise that enough that is bad news to cheap out on tyres.
  17. You make it sound like I'm promoting them as some sort of luxury. They're not, they're the most safety critical part of the car behind the brakes. If you haven't got top quality tyres, even with the best brakes in the world, they're still not going to perform anywhere near as well as they would with high quality rubber. I do have really rather staunch views on tyres but that's because they are a key safety aspect of the car as well as providing better driver feel. I will not cheap out on tyres. The Z32 really has nothing to help us when things go a little awry. Not TC, no adaptive safety systems to take the pressure off. Just for that reason alone it's worth fitting them. They're an insurance policy and if that means that you have to put some stuff on hold like your next skull or light mod, then so be it. That wasn't meant as a facetious comment by the way, I'm just emphasising.
  18. That review doesn't convince me what so ever I'm afraid. They're still not as good as premium brand tyres and for that, I'll stick with those since the tyre is the only thing in contact between you and the road.
  19. ....erm, because they are? No one is saying they're bad....there are just much better tyres out there and personally, I'd rather fit top end manufacturers' tyres. The tyres are stronger irrespective of grip.
  20. Nangkangs?? Go for some quality rubber.
  21. **** cup holders!
