Running cables from the boot to the dashboard
Oh bugger forgot about the mount thing in the middle. I could stick the PC on the shelf in my SWB between the seats and the boot. I am going to have some cushioning so the hard disk is not nailed by the shudders and knocks of my lowered ZX on the road.

What would you buy?
350Z is auto though :( For that range of cars i would get a Lotus Esprit instead. Though Esprit's are unreliable i think.

Running cables from the boot to the dashboard
I am going to fit a Car PC into my Zed. I will put a small Compaq PC in the space saver tyre area and will run various cables to the dashboard where i will have a 7" monitor where stereo DIN stuff normally goes. Is it fairly straight forward to remove the console thing that goes on top of the propshaft tunnel to do this?

we will never beat america
My mum was very unfortunate to get cancer 2 years ago but was very lucky to have just immigrated to the USA. Thanks to her private healthcare she got the very best treatment which included top doctors on 24 hour call out. She got total proactive care. Whereas the NHS will often only look at you if you have definate symptoms. I have pains in my kidneys and twice i have seen the GP about it, done a blood test and they said everything was fine. Well if i didnt not get a deep groaning main in them they would be, but they hurt! so something must be wrong, bahh! I have private health cover through work but they wont do anything without a referal from my NHS GP.. duh, how crap is that! But all that said i think we should keep the NHS and its hospitals that are like dungeons lol

we will never beat america
It costs Ford $2000 on the price of making every car in healthcare costs for its employees. So its not straight forward. But my mum lives outside of New York and i love the place and the people. I would live on the east coast if i got the chance.

UN-Loved Zed's
My ZX looks brand new on the outside and interior. I keep it clean and dont allow eating or smoking inside. When i am in a traffic jam i do some dusting on the interior with a flannel. I was lucky to get a SWB TT import that was in really good condition and hope to keep it that way.

Halfords pressure washers are a con
Dont buy any Halfords power washers. I got one yesterday set it up and despite lots of loud noises from the unit what came out of the end was no more powerfull than what the tap put out. I will take mine back tomorrow and hassle the halfrauds sales morons.

Port Scans
The chinese port scan everyone on the planet. At work i often see the names of chinese ISP's on the netstat list. And your own ISP probably port scans your PC! Blueyonder has a automated bot that has a little nibble of my linux server every so often. If a foreigner is really being nosy i do a SYN packet attack on thier IP which often scares them off. nmap for Linux is the best port scanner. The most inventive hackers try to squirt XML or shell script code into my FTP and Web ports to try and invoke a command on the server. Make sure you have any guest accounts disabled. Use Windows XP firwall and dont use single dictionary words for passwords. But have a pragmatic idea of what would happen if a non commercial computer, a home PC got hacked. They might be able to get some wedding photos, a CV and no doubt some porn but so what. If your paranoid about your PC being hacked i suspect you drive an old Volvo and are a tree hugger :D

Britain will be first country to monitor every car journey
Any government project that involves those new fangled things called computers will be vastly over budget and a complete cock up. ID cards alone will cost each person £500. Version 1.0 no doubt will be hackable and taken to peices by the geeks.

Weird electrical problem!
How queer, perhaps an Alfa Romeo has possesed your car. I had a 164 once and i had the wipers, lights and other stuff come on by itself. I had to disconnect the battery every night.. which was in the boot.

NZR-Self Build advice needed
I am really looking into this. My dad has been a carpenter for 40 years and can do electrical and plumbing. Myself i am a trained electrical engineer and have worked on sites with my dad wood bashing. I intend to build a dorma house. Build the foundations a shell for the dorma and conect utillities such as water, electricity and gas. i will move into the house once the shell is up then build it from the inside out.

broad band
I use Blueyonder 1mbit and it is ultra reliable. Not one outage that i have noticed in 5 years. NTL is alleged to be dire. And Blueyonder is cable. On all the time. Handy if you are a digital media whore like me and remote control your PC from work to download stuff all the time.

any one crashed their zed????
I was very lucky that i span the car at 55mph and hit the barrier at 20mph on the passenger side front corner. The barrier absorbed a lot of the energy of impact and came of its posts for 30m. I had to replace the front bumper, side wing and intercooler. Could have been a lot worse.

a lamborgini for my gf what you all think?
oh my that black Countach is so gorgeous *dribble*

any one crashed their zed????
When i crashed my ZX two weeks ago i skipped a heart beat for the 2nd time in my life. Very sobering experience. I was furious with myself. I did make an effort to get the car off the road by letting it veer into the barrier. I didnt want anyone else hitting me or crashing themselves..

How Much Was A 300zx
The 350Z shares its platform with other models and so is cheaper by economies of scale. Whereas the 300ZX shared its platform with nowt and was designed at the peak of Japanese industrial might in the late 80's when they had money pouring out of every orifice. I wish there was more new sportscars similar to the Mazda RX-8 coming out. Seems to be a grim business making and selling cars nowadays.

Girliest car ever.
The Ford Ka is sheer crap. But the car i loathe most and its girly is the new Mini Cooper. 'Ooh look at me i can be sporty and yet inoffensive at the same time cos i am a carebear' argh! eat shit and die mofo.

When does a Supercar cease to become a Supercar?
As shown in Top Gear the schoolboy fave supercar by a huge way was the Lamborghini Countach 5000S. And i would agree, the most sensational supercar ever. And its figures are not to different from a ZX TT. The Veyron does not excite me really. It is not raw like say the McLaren F1 is. If the Veyron wants real kudos points then stick it in the Le Mans 24 hours and see if it lasts more than 50 laps

When does a Supercar cease to become a Supercar?
IMO any FWD car with more than 220hp is just silly and a pretender to be a supercar. Zee germans have produced quite a few saloon cars with RWD which are really really fast. Such as recent BMW M5's and Mercedes AMG cars. I would call them supercars. I have always liked Bentley Turbo R's :)
