  1. I've been running federal 595 RSRs for the last few track days and a ring trip and I've been pleasantly surprised by them. They have enough grip to make them worthwhile, but their real benefit is how much better they are at handling heat compared to a road tyre. I haven't had any of the splitting across the treads that to you will read about online, whether over been lucky, or they've sorted the problem I don't know! In the wet, forget about any grip as you won't get any heat into them, but wet track days are all in about learning about your car! Remember if going for a really grippy tyre, (r888s and up) z32s need a lot of help keeping oil starve at bay!
  2. I've been tracking mine for the last couple or years, I think you'll struggle to get enough of us together for a 300 only track day, but it's always worth keeping your eyes out with the other enthusiast groups to combine and tag along on their days
  3. Hey, Is anyone placing a concept z order at the moment and wants to split postage? Let me know!
  4. I bought a scarab bumper second hand but unpainted, and I can see why the previous owner sold it to me, there is no way In hell it would ever fit, I've ended up rebuilding my bomex bumper instead! If you want an ill fitting scarab bumper for a cheap... Let me know!
  5. After a working NA power steering pump, What ya got?
  6. Oh right, I figured there must have been a reason - seems a terribly in efficient way to get some heat out of the fluid, but it must help somehow
  7. Hi all, It was only during my first engine pull last weekend that I noticed the routing of the power steering hoses. They route forward from the power steering pump, across in front of the radiator, back along through the engine bay, just to get to the left side of the steering rack. I can only assume this is for an optional PS fluid cooler, or is it for fluid quantity purposes? Can it be rerouted a more direct route to the rack? While the engine Is out Im trying to find an NA PS pump to get rid of all remainder of the hicas pipes which are currently just looped.
  8. If you're struggling with the snappy bite of a new clutch, they're usually quite 'grabby' when they're bedding in, so give it some time and you will get used to it :)
  9. Not sure on getting an OEM one Dan, have you had issues with a lightweight one? I'm running a Competition clutch ultra light weight one and had any I'll effect to speak of. Or are you worried of the quality of the light one?
  10. If just the turbos were upgraded at this point, would the existing map need updating? and if so, could the car safely be driven to a mapper with the boost turned down on an MBC? I appreciate injectors would require a map before running, but just turbos?
  11. Yep the car already has a mapped nistune ecu, big brake set up and all the possible deletes done, CC clutch that can handle far more than I'll ever chase. I am still undecided whether to go for the cheapest rebuild possible or fork out some money as a present to myself! I do appreciate your input though
  12. I spoke to Vince on the phone this week and he seems a sound guy who knows what he's talking about
  13. From what was discussed, it would be something similar to the gt525 from z1. I've had a chat with CR turbos, and they're local enough to me to go and chat about requirements with them.
  14. Good evening all! I'm in the process of pulling my engine to change the turbos, I have spoken a turbo specialist who can do something similar the turbos available from the states, for what doesn't seem a bad price for a core upgrade to a larger core. By the sounds of it they can custom build to requirements. What would the supporting mods be to get the best out of a turbo like this? Currently already have intercoolers, downpipes, exhaust, pulleys. I understand injectors will be a necessity as will a fuel pump, (mine is whining). And then a fresh map. Cheers for any advice!
  15. Hi all, I may be after a pair of turbos after the last session of today's track day ended in a screech and a cloud of smoke, I still need to diagnose it fully, but first signs point to this. What have ya got? Cheers
  16. A second for locking collars, I picked up a set for less than £20 on eBay and they made a great difference Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
  17. I have a brand new apexi power intake, that bolts directly on to the 300zx maf after £60 posted. Cheers Kane
  18. I've dropped my gearbox to try and diagnose a problem with it not disengaging, and annoyingly, there doesnt appear to be anything obviously wrong! Dropping the transmission is only a couple of hour job once the car us up on stands, but still a bugger! Going to try an upgraded clutch fork even though the original one seems to look OK, apparently they do flex slightly and the cast iron ones are supposed to eliminate any flex. Good luck with yours!
  19. I've gone for a FRP bumper out of desperation at the moment, as that one might well be a temporary fix if I don't like it. I work in an injection moulding company, but I don't think an astra, corsa, land rover or mclaren bumper would fit!
  20. I've sent my mum to go and fetch a replacement bumper that will still need spraying, but the mashed one is coming on OK... Nobody will notice
  21. We're a good way through drilling few hundred holes and using more cable ties than Christian Grey's sex cave!
  22. I've seen a scarab bumper on eBay about 50 miles from me, so I just need to wait for a reply, going to try cable tie stitching this morning though,
  23. Ive just arrived back from what could be a very expensive trip to the pub... Parking in the car park at our local pub for a meal, I tucked the front bumper over a patch of grass in front of the parking space. For some reason there had been some 4" high steel pegs left out of the ground, completely camouflaged, I then reversed out of the space, and there was a huge crunch, and the bumper has been destroyed, fibreglass is not very forgiving. All I had to hand was some sparky tape and a cable tie, so I patched it up so I could drive home slowly. In between all of this, I had to pretend nothing was wrong and smile through a pub dinner with the in-laws. The best part is I'm due to go to the Nurburgring on Friday so I can see a lot of cable ties coming in for a temporary fix if I can't get hold of a spare bumper! Pics to follow... So... Anyone near Hampshire got an old bumper laying around?
  24. I've had creaky coilovers before, and some light oil on the stanchion inside the rubber boot silenced it. Give that a go for a start
