Zed being worked on by a garage in St Ives, Cornwall. I spoke to a guy last night who changed the timing belt. I've not seen it about and wondered who's it was? Dave

AFM Help Please.
I expect you've already been told but have you tried disconnecting it to make sure it is that? It'll run but be restricted to 2k revs. Mine went the other day and Ryan at Zedtech sold me a second hand one. I've never heard of anyone fixing them? They work by the air flowing over a thin wire that gets burned when the rain going over it. Or something like that at any rate!!

who has removed AC
My Zed has the aircon and cruise control taken out as well as some other bits. I'd definately do it on any future Zeds. I'm going to make sure the heater matrix is fixed though!

Mmmmm, plucking up the courage to ask women out.
Best advice is from a Lady Si! Get up there and have a chat. If she's not interested then find another one. If all else fails, keep bothering them until they submit and realise you're a nice guy! Oh, and be confident. Dave

Blue Smoke
The pcv's are quite straight forward so at least you can get that done and then see how it is.

Help with turbos please
As above mate. You can buy the kits for roughly £60 (ish) per turbo and do it yourself. It only takes a few hours seeing as you already have the engine out. Just mark the tubs so they stay reasonably balanced when you put them back together. Alternatively you can get them balanced properly but this cost lots of wonger.

Coilovers - questions...
I think there was a post some time ago on this subject. It was talking about getting all the suspension properly tweaked by professionals. The person who had it done reckoned it was the best money he'd spent on his Zed, and really made a difference to the handling.

Speed awareness course!
Chuffed, I got flashed by a camera in Plymouth a month or so ago and have been worried that I'd end up with 9 points and the potential of losing my licence if I got flashed again. Instead they have put me on a speed awareness course. It'll still cost £60 but I wont get the points. It was ridiculous as I thought it was a 40mph limit so I was going along at 39mph completely aware of my speed. I then got flashed because it was a 30mph zone (doh!). Oh and it was at midnight with not another car (or person) in sight. I got the picture off of them as I wasn't sure if it was me driving at the time. It would have been too much hassle to contest it and the cost of driving back and forth up the country would have been several times the fine. So I'm happy that they have put me on the course instead of giving me points, plus I've got another photo of the Zed! Well regardless of the outcome its certainly made me a lot more careful of my speed. It was a nightmare driving around thinking I could be on nine points. It's easy to have a heavy foot when there seems no safety reason for the speed limit (such as late at night through motorway road works) but I've always been careful not to speed in built up areas, and this was pretty stupid. It didn't serve any purpose flashing me other than a waste of £60 but I do consider myself lucky as having the extra points would be a nightmare.

winter :(
I drove from Bristol to SW Cornwall on Monday. I was a bit down about the winter after I spun when someone pulled out in front of me ,and then burning my MAF out on the trip up. Once I got going though it dried up for a bit and I was reminded how good the Zed drives when you can boot it some. Hmmmmm! I love it! The winter is taking its toll though. I've got patches of missing paint on the nose where I spun, plus I don't want to think about what the salt is doing to the car. Oh well, I'm too skint at the moment to get much else so the Zed will stay the daily drive for the time. Can't say I'm bothered! Dave

happy birthday srrae

starting to really like skylines
I wouldn't consider anything other than a GTR. My mate had a GTS but I thought it was pretty boring compared to a Zed and had b*ggar all power. I wouldn't mind giving a big power one a try , for the rear wheel drive, though. I love the GTRs' as they just seem like pure drivers cars. They dominate the track so much it's silly. I agree that they don't look anywhere near as good, although I quite like the look of the R34. I nearly went for a GTR when I bought the current Zed, but in the end it came down to sensibility with the cash. The GTR seems a financial step above the Zed, although I'd be interested in what you have to say Kirbz after owning one. Are they more expensive to run than a Zed? or is it just the initial outlay?.

Fitted my 99spec lights at last! Few pics...poss boring thread.
The ladies will love love you if you've got a 'more modern back end', especially if you shine your lights on it. LMAO! Dave

Thanks to Zedtech! + Confirmation I need a Winter Runabout?
Maybe because of the different front, mines a 99 spec so has open mouth and the filter sits just behind. I've got a HKS filter for sale if anyone wants it! Its been great through the summer and autumn and has been on there for several years I believe but I don't think the car has ever been used in the winter before. Its extremely clean underneath. Dave Good to meet you too Pete!

Took the Zed out today...for the first time in ages.
I've got another 250mile journey back down to Cornwall tomorrow. If I don't lose my toes to frost bite it'll be great. I'm going to get a winter run about for commuting once I've got some money but I'm sure the Zed will keep going all winter. Nice dense cold air to suck into the engine and make it go faster! Dave

1st day in your zed
When I drove my first one I thought I'd see how fast it would go on the way home, it went very fast much to my enjoyment, then something went pop and it was the start of many months of trouble, later a home engine rebuild, and later still, another pop and eventually got rid of it. When I first drove the one I have now I thought I'd see how fast it went too, but this time on the test drive. It went very,VERY fast and didn't go pop and never has! So after a good ragging I went and bought it! Best decision I've ever made, it came up for sale on the forum and an hour later me and the missus were on a 400mile round trip to have a look. I knew after speaking to TonyC (the original owner) that I was going to buy it.
