Starting my new job in Kent on the 4th of January as a CISCO network engineer. I sent back the contract last month but it's nice to get a solid date so that I know its all sorted. I've been doing the first part of my CCNP which has gone well. Had lots of bad luck lately but hopefully everything will settle down once we move to Kent and find somewhere to live. It's turned out good because I can spend Christmas here in Cornwall now whereas before I didn't know if I would be here or in Kent. I even got some un-expected surf today which equals happy Dave! Turned out my MOT was out after getting a producer from the police. I've been concentrating so hard on my course and changing life that I didn't realise it was out. Oh well I'm past worrying after all the problems I've had so will wait and see what happens. On the up side it means I simply HAD to replace my discs and pads! so I've got some tasty shiny discs on the way from Smithy (top friendly service as always, thanks mate, much appreciated). My bank account has gone to monopoly land but I'm feeling happy still!! Hopefully some good luck and stability is on the way. Dave

The rear seat goes down on the 2+2. It's amazing how much you can fit in it. I've reguarly travelled with TWO surfboards (one of them a 7.5 ft mini-mal!) several big holdals, tool boxes, two computers and god knows what else! Really practical for a sports car. Dave

Karl, We had some TA blokes working with us and they were being paid three times what the other blokes of the same rank were on. The Marines had to match their civvy wage due to them having mortgages and so on at that level. I don't know the rules on wages when you are recalled but I'd imagine its the same. You just have to show proof of earnings. I'm pretty sure that your employer has to keep the job for you, rules of reserve forces and all that. There's probably ways around it though, I guess. Well, looks like you've learnt the same lesson as me, but in a more scary way! My heavy foot has now earn't me 9 points (although none of them were from offences that were dangerous or even very fast, I guess its Karma for all the other times or something). I've gone from doing long distance driving at night to commuting in the day and I'm having to change my attitude to driving. Heavy feet just get you into trouble in the day. You can still enjoy the acceleration I suppose. I often think thats why Evos and Scooby's are so common as they can get there thrills at low speeds accelerating and going round the twisties whereas its always tempting to boot the Zed into triple figures.How old were your tyres by the way?

Go for it mate. The Raf is easily the best lifestyle of all the forces. You get treated like humans, the food and accom is as good as you'll get in the forces, and you'll have some amazing experiences too. If you've got the qualifications then have a try for Officer, its worth it in the long term. If you don't get it then you can still go as an ordinary rank. Dave

Here,Here. I havn't the time to read the whole thread but I agree with Rich and Kirbz. You can only flow so much air before it gets to hot through friction of the flow. Matching turbos to an engine system is more than finding the biggest tubs out there. You have to look at all the factors and bigger isn't always better, and you can't just up the boost or whatever to make bigger hp. Fair do's for the bloke for having a nice car but its just not likely IMO. Excuse my quick response without reading the full threads Nitro.
