  1. Ok, here it is: does the fact (or should the fact) that I work from home affect how I'm perceived as "a tradesman"...? I appreciate that a bodyshop can't really work from home (unless they have a huge garage and all the proper facilities), but a trimmer has no such constraints. But does the "working from home" aspect alter how I'm viewed...? Would people generally class me as being more professional or more reputable if I had business premises...? Thanks.
  2. Nissan's marketing strategies were a bit skewed, in my opinion - I can't for the life of me understand why, in the brochure, they'd make a point of putting all the items with bright red stitching in the cabin of the Zed with the blue seats, but leave the red-seated car with black-stitched leatherwork...!! Dropped the ball there, I reckon...
  3. Thanks, Groover :) I've seen a lot of TopGaiters stuff over the years and it is good stuff for the most part. My concern, and this is based on actually being a trimmer, is regarding things like the "dash covers" they offer. Someone from here got in touch with me about a year ago, fancying their dash trimming. When I gave a price, they immediately replied with a link to one of TopGaiters' covers and asking if I could (or would) match that price. I declined and explained that fitting things of that size is a serious amount of work, not to mention the amount of hi-temp adhesive required for a long-lasting result, and that obviously my quote included the fitting. I was told, in no uncertain terms, to stop being a con-man!! Now, back in the day, I remember a friend of mine paying £1,500 to have his dashboard trimmed. The finished product was truly a thing of beauty, as you'd expect with such a price tag. Part of that cost was due to the high-end Scottish leather used (which is more highly regarded than Italian leather) and part of the cost was down to the fact that the fit and finish were flawless. A lot of people don't tend to realise the amount of work that goes into retrimming something, especially something as large, awkward and ungainly as a full dashboard. Even if I wasn't in this line of business, I'd personally prefer to have something like a mail order dash cover fitted professionally. Which will bump the "cheap" initial cost up a fair amount. This is why, and I mean no disrespect to anyone that has the following fitted to their car, most "mail order" seat kits tend to look a bit baggy and wrinkly when they're fitted (unless fitted by a professional). There are all sorts of adjustments that usually need to be made when fitting new covers and the average layman simply won't know where to make them or how to make them. The end result looks, in my opinion, a little cheap unfortunately.
  4. I'm booked up til August at the moment anyway! :thumbup1:
  5. A £1,500 budget would cover the following: Front and rear seats. Doorcards, rear quarter panels, dash trims, glovebox & tunnel panels. Gear gaiter, handbrake gaiter and central armrest cover. All in a leather colour of your choosing, with stitching of your choice. Everything would be fitted by me if the car itself were here, otherwise you'd need to refit the seats and panels yourself. But there'd no cutting or glueing or anything like that required by you. All that would be done here, by me.
  6. Fitting an armrest cover should really take no more than 30 minutes, even if you've never done one before. I'm assuming you'll have had to trim it here and there...? That all depends how deep your pockets are! Virtually everything can be trimmed in the Z32 cabin. Seats, panels, gaiters, entire doorcards (not just the fabric inserts), headliner, targa ends, B pillar trims, rear quarter window surrounds... everything, really... :)
  7. Naughty...!!!
  8. Thanks, Gary :) :thumbup1: Those of you on Facebook will already be aware of this but, for those who aren't, my interior work is now officially award-winning!! The first 350Z interior I did claimed "Best Interior" at the 350Z / 370Z Clarion Ace Cafe meeting! :D

  10. I haven't heard any of Europe's stuff in a looooong time... guess it's worth checking out?
  11. I honestly always thought that Joey Tempest had one of the greatest (and under-rated) voices in modern music!
  12. True. But if you're stuck behind a wagon or something that's throwing muck and grime all over your screen, a less than satisfactory supply of water is going to achieve nothing but smearing that muck everywhere and obscuring your vision even further! Been there, suffered that. Hence what is, in my mind, an upgrade to the OEM washer jets. :)
  13. Ok, I had plenty of cause to check this out yesterday on my way down to Lee Dent's and I can confirm that, at motorway speeds, the wind appears to push the "fan" of water down somewhat. So instead of covering the whole screen instantly, it covers the lower third, then the wipers distribute it across the rest. Couple that with the fact that Z32 washer pumps aren't stupidly powerful in the first place, and the "upgraded" washer jets are, in my opinion at least, leaps and bounds ahead of the Nissan originals :thumbup1:
  14. A 10 amp fuse at the side of the driver's footwell has most likely blown. Top row, third from left (if I remember right). That'll be why your lights have gone into "safe mode"
  15. Are you sure you have enough stickers on one wheel there...?
  16. A lovely touch, Ian :thumbup1:
  17. I can vouch that he hasn't, mate :) I know this because we were all astounded at the Wiseco ashtrays dotted all over the workshop!! :tongue_smilie: :ban: ?
  18. Good to meet you today, mate :) And I'm glad at least one person present today got around to doing some work!
  19. Well, she's safely deposited at Lee's garage now, after a fairly hateful drive down - the M62 has turned into one giant car-park! :( But it'll all be worth it :thumbup1:
  20. About 5 feet away from where I'm sat right now... ;)
  21. As I'm heading off down to Lee Dent's tomorrow for a big service and some other work, I thought I'd bung an under-bonnet pic (or three) up to show what it currently looks like under there: As I couldn't find any ready-polished throttle bodies, I've given mine a bit of a scrub down (along with the fronts of the rocker covers) and I'm pleasantly surprised by how nicely they've started to come up :) It should look a lot less grimy and a lot more attractive under there when Lee's finished.... :thumbup1:
  22. I've "liked" Gary's post above, but it's still truly sad that it's there in the first place :( Ian's a good representative for the club that Mandy loved so much, regardless of his being Zebedee's new owner. Thank you, mate :)
  23. Can't say I have. But the OEM ones were fairly poor, or mine were at least, so I'm expecting these to be better even at speed :)
