  1. Would have thought any TT in good condition gets away exceptionally fast on the road- unless you want to Drag Race or track use.
  2. If it helps, I have a conversion set which I will be selling with a set of standard rears for £60 delivered the lot as I got the 99's in the summer and havn't the time to convert now. You will be able to convert this set taking your time while keeping your car on the road, and sell yours later. Let me know if your interested. Regards Dave
  3. Could be battery knackered/poor lead condition- especially 'headlights symptom looks as if running on purely alternator and as revs drop on gearchange and therefore alternator revs drop, lights dim (assuming belt not slipping?). How does it start?- if battery discharged or break in circuit, engine will cut out. Easy to test output from alternator with meter, if OK and battery OK then must be lead condition. Regards Dave
  4. Sounds daft, but all cylinders are firing? V6s will run on 5 if one cylinder not firing because of bad lead, plug, or gap etc (but without power) and as engine warms up and mixture weakens, that cylinder can jump into life. Regards Dave
  5. Of Course, if that doesnt work out, its the Speed sensor on the gearbox. Pretty common. Regards Dave
  6. I do sympathise- however it really does irritate me when people pull up on the wrong side of the road and leave their lights on and continue to blind traffic. For some reason it does not occur to them to just leave side lights on and that their dipped beams will dazzle oncoming traffic- police told me at one time that vehicle should face away from traffic when parked so reflectors indicated vehicle position. Regards Dave
  7. Many Thanks Eisegerwind- most illuminating  I have sent this back to my freind and it just shows how rumours develop- thoroughly recommend everyone looks at that shortcut and sees how a germ of truth, a misunderstanding and the internet can combine to produce this. Also shows this Forum (300zx.UK) works!! Hi John While Starbucks did charge for the water, the rest of this claim is totally untrue- read this and circulate to all those who received the original email. http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/starbucks.asp Regards Dave :)
  8. Cant you just do a 'Father Ted' and put 'FECKIN' THen you could sell them to every age group and denomination apparently!! ...........and I would have 10 for starters!! :hyper: REgards Dave
  9. :rant:Hi All I've been sent the following circular email by a freind and have no reason to doubt it. Please read and let me know what you all feel- and if you support the sentiments maybe circulate further! Can't believe the bit about Starbucks charging Twin Towers survivors for water!! :headvswal Regards Dave I can only pass this on. Words fail me. Drink Fair Trade Coffee instead Recently, Royal Marines in Iraq, wrote to Starbucks because they wanted to let them know how much they liked their coffees, and to request that they send some of it to the troops there. Starbucks replied, telling the Marines thank you for their support of their business, but that Starbucks does not support the war, nor anyone in it, and that they would not send the troops their brand of coffee. So as not to offend Starbucks, maybe we should support them by NOT buying any of their products! I feel we should get this out in the open. I know this war might not be very popular with some folks, but that doesn't mean we don't support the boys on the ground, fighting street-to-street and, house-to-house. If you feel the same as I do then pass this along. Thanks very much for your support. I know you'll all be there again when I deploy once more. Sgt. Howard C. Wright 1st Force Recon Co 1st PLT. PLEASE DON'T DELETE THIS. .. PLEASE PASS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR E- MAIL LIST, IN MEMORY OF ALL THE TROOPS WHO HAVE DIED, SO THAT WE MAY HAVE THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE ! Also, don't forget that when the Twin Trade Towers were hit, the fire fighters and rescue workers went to Starbucks because it was close by for water for the survivors and workers, and Starbucks CHARGED THEM! ! ! AN ADDED NOTE TO THIS: STARBUCKS HAD STORES ON SEVERAL MILITARY BASES IN THE UNITED STATES. THEY ARE NOW BEING REMOVED BECAUSE OF THIS. There are 227 Starbucks stores across the UK, and there's no doubt that our soldiers would get the same response from this company, so let us do our bit and boycott Starbucks to show them how despicable their actions are. I never liked their coffee either
  10. Thanks for the feedback guys! - no- one bought the Cambelt Kit then? Regards Dave
  11. Hi All Does anyone know anything about the iezura Tensioner Bearings being sold on Ebay? They are described as equal to or exceeding OEM specs- is this to be trusted and has anyone used these products? Prices are tempting.. Any help appreciated. Regards Dave
  12. Believe it or not Tesco do a set of mats that fit perfectly, good quality and low cost- a tip from a while ago on this site! Regards Dave
  13. I thought the Clifford has an integral Turbo Timer so would avoid you having to refit one. Regards Dave
  14. Check/Change Speed sensor on box. Regards Dave
  15. Hi Dan Mine came with a superb bracket which bolts at an angle to the existing engine oil cooler mounting points, and angles the cooler so it picks up flow from main bumper intake. Its in heavy S/S so needs no other support! I took a card template so I can get another made up for my other Z- would be happy to take pics to make this clearer, and send you a copy of the template if it helps- at least I can vouch that it fits perfectly with a large cooler in that space! Totally agree with your comments regarding using old engine cooler for transmission- max cooling an absolute must and explained why in the very informed advice from the scorpio owners site- same principle; .... I was told that basically you will find two sorts of plates within a gearbox. Ones that look obviously shagged, and ones that show very little signs of wear. They become very quickly damaged only after the seals have started to wear, and hydraulic pressure starts to fall off (it was something of a surprise to me to realise that the job of all those springs that you compress in order to strip the clutch, is in fact to keep the clutch in the OPEN. position, so not only does the pressure behind the piston have to contend with 150 horsepower (in the case of the Ford obviously!), it also has to overcome the resistance of these springs-in itself no small amount of force!!). I guess that this amount of spring pressure is to ensure that the clutch disengages instantly, once hydraulic pressure to it is cut off. Given the amount of 'meat' on the plates in comparison to, say, the clutch plates on a small motorcycle engine ( almost identical design of clutch, but much thicker plates, yet they may only have to contend with 10% of the horsepower, perhaps), one can conclude that these clutches are designed to snap open and shut with the absolute minimum of slip- any weakness in the hydraulic action will allow slippage, as will weak 'opening' springs, and the clutch will fail very rapidly. In essense, if hydraulic line pressure drops within the box through overheating, the danger is slippage and rapid clutch plate wear. Obviously cooling helps minimise this danger, and using Fully Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid would be the best thing for the Auto-Box to cope the extra h.p. and keep it cool as possible. Hope this helps Regards Dave
  16. Bloww some Waxoyl everywhere especially box sections but except brakes/exhaust- creeps into threaded surfaces and has rust killer/inhibitorsd- swear by it! Get the black version and it looks absolutely fantastic as well! One 5l tin at around £18 or so should do the car- use Sholtes gun & compressor- no need to clean off rust etc, just thick mud of course.. By the way- if you want another arm I have one you can have- just pay postage! Regards Dave
  17. Many Thanks Dave- will try it! Out of interest- does anyone know if using belts from other cars like super reliable Ford belts, if it affects insurance etc? Regards Dave
  18. Help please! Mine are Jap inertia and dont retract well- infact passenger one just given up completely with a couple of yards of belt laid on the seat! MOT in 2 weeks as well! Are there reliable ones from other motors that fit or any tips to make em function properly? Regards Dave
  19. Many Thanks Andy Regards Dave
  20. Interested in the seat belt kite marks as mine are Jap and dont retract well- infact passenger one just given up completely with a couple of yards of belt laid on the seat! MOT in 2 weeks as well! How are you replacing yours?- are there reliable ones from other motors that fit? Regards Dave
  21. I agree a bargain, but I have bought two Mongoose systems in the same condition from Forum members over past couple of years for £100 each collected, who couldnt get a sale on here! Can't understand why? Regards Dave
  22. Does fitting UK clocks delimit a Jap ECU? Regards Dave
  23. Its spot welded so wont hammer out- cut off flat, centre punch & drill hole from underneath and use new bolt- bit of a fiddle tho. Regards Dave
  24. Amazing! I started with a 240Z in 1977- horrendous crash cartwheeling across a field in 1978 (both of us walked away without a scratch!!) and then rebuilt my second- putting the front end from my crashed one onto another one I bought in Liverpool while still @ uni! So my boy started his life riding in a cot looking out through the back of a 240Z, and later with his car seat strapped to a bespoke Roll Cage I built for the same car. I still have this car among my Z'ds, still love it although it needs another rebuild now and I've collected all the panels necessary over the years. I have debated selling it over the years and my fantastic, long suffering wife has always prevented me- never realised they had reached such heights in value. California examples are still good- there was someone who imported them for parts & conversion- can prob find details if someone wants. Regards Dave
  25. See its gone to 99spec rear lights after Lee had changed them to Enzo style. Regards Dave
