How do i get to the dials?
Hi I believe you have a simple case of sconversion, when some plank fitting the replacement speedo face has not followed the instructions on how to zero the needle. Have a look at this page: http://www.f-e-s.demon.co.uk/Speedo%20faces.htm . You should be able to correct prob. I came across Far East Services after seeing a discussion on the site re: converters that caused problems, and vouched for by members as producing the only non problem one. Very helpful and knowledgeable lot if you need help. Regards, Dave

Noisey Axle and Gearbox :-(
Sounds silly, but have you checked all your exhaust joints and mountings? Also check the engine mounts. If the exhaust can move or blows under load it could foul the body or rear sub assembly- would be loud or knocking. Many Zs I have seen seen to suffer from split rubber engine mountings- this allows the engine to move under load as the Torque twists the engine, or even move backwards & forwards- could knock. Both worth checking before you move on to bushes & CV joints! Point No.2 sounds like classic symptom of a worn Clutch Release bearing. Has to be replaced I'm afraid- and probably you will find the Clutch Plate wants renewing at the same time. Bouncing bald tyres sound like a duff shock absorber- have to change both front- not just the one- for new. Hope this helps. Sounds like your car has a hard life in Bahrain! Regards Dave

What is the second rad thingy!!!!!!!!
As you will need the Aircon system recharging when you reinstall, I suggest you save some money- and the atmosphere by finding a good specialist. Most will discharge the system, saving the gas for reuse. They should credit you with the weight and when you return means you will not pay again for that gas- lots of money! Change the drier at the same time as recharge- Aircon specialist will do it when system recharged & checked. They should show you where the pipe joints are- take care to put spanners on both halves of joints as pipes soft and will twist/ strain easily. Removal self explanatory then if you look for 10mm bolts on support brackets. Main Rad easy- once hoses disconnected top & bottom- save antifreeze if good & strain back through paint filter- look for the two black brackets on the top of rad- unbolt & rad slides directly upwards. Not quite so easy on a car after a full frontal smack though- is it Andy! Good Luck Dave

Help please- Ignition switch!
Can anyone help with the technique for releasing the Lockset & switch units from the Ignition barrel please? Trying to renew the Ignition barrel after an attempt to steal the car, and we need to remove them also from the donor (S/H) barrel without damage. Regards Dave:(

HELP Floods killed my Z
Sorry to hear of your troubles Mathew. I bought my Z from a guy in Dec 2001 from a guy who had also hydrauliced the engine in a flood. In that case just one of the Conrods had bent with no other damage to the engine- I hope this is the same in your case! I bought the car with the engine in a pile of bits and after costing gaskets etc since was forced to conclude this engine is better as a spare gradually being rebuilt with upgraded pistons etc. as funds allow. In the meantime, desperate to get the car on the road, I concluded that the cheapest option was a good low mileage second- hand engine, and luckily my very good freind AndyZ pointed me at one in darkest Cornwall which I picked up at the end of 2002 for a bargain few hundred quid. With luck it will mean we are on the road in the Spring - with several engines recently on here at very reasonable prices- could be an option for you as well. Very best of luck Dave
