There is definitely a fake one in Colchester made from a old vw scirroco. But haven't seen the real one before. Awesome looking cars, shame they didn't have the performance to match the looks.

You could pay a professional to steam clean it. Years ago, I used to pour a bottle of coke over the engine, leave it for a while and then hose it off. It always seemed to work quite well.

I've got a chipped manual na ecu for sale which gives slightly more power, better throttle response etc if your interested.

Mine is not because my name is tom, my name is dave. My last name is Tomlinson. But because there were too many Dave's where I used to work, they started calling me tomo. That mixed with the fact I love the film scarface = tomomontana. I also use that as my Xbox gamer tag.

Yesterday I had my silver n/a lowloaded to my parents and followed up in my new TT for the drop. Today took me, my missus and son back to my parents in the new zed for mothers day (I hate being driven around in the other half dull and dreary focus!)

Ups **** up too, I sent a parcel out for work that was supposed to go to france a couple of weeks Ago. It did make it to France, but then for some strange reason it then got sent to Texas! Well after its little world tour, we got it back today. Thought I'd better open it up and check it again to make sure it was good to send back to France, only to find they had literally smashed it to pieces! My boss wouldn't have minded to much if it had been a cheap item, but it was over a grands worth of Mackie DJ studio recording equipment. Just goes to show even one of the worlds best couriers (apparently) treat your stuff with no care what so ever!

Thanks for the offer mate. I've had a couple of offers for engines now. Haven't quite decided on what to do yet, although even before this happened, I've had my eye on a TT for sale. I'm just guna have a good long think and mull over the options. Although, the way I'm thinking at the the moment, there may well be a breaking thread coming soon.

To be fair the car did need a bit of work even before this happened. There is rusty bits in various places, the thrust bearing is noisy when the clutch isn't down, it still has the cold running issue etc etc. Also as you mentioned about space, I don't have any! I even have to park on my neighbors driveway. Another issue, this is my daily driver, fck knows how im guna get to work on Monday.

So........ Worth repairing, considering the other issues... Or breaking and putting the money towards a TT?

Problem is, I know nothing about working on engines. I'd have to pay someone to do it all for me. I just don't want to start sinking shlt loads more cash into it, if it turns out it is something major. If there is anyone local who is willing to have a go, I would happily make them as many teas as they want :)
