  1. i just checked the fuse and it was blown (thanks cyberbean) so i replaced it with the only spare i had and it blew straight away so i'm guessing it's definatly something to do with the fog light switch that they messed about with. i'll have to buy a load of fuses and have a play with it. then its just the rad to sort out. don't suppose there is a fitting/removal guide on here somewhere is there?
  2. the garage were fitting a bypass switch to up the ampage so that the cold start issue would be resolved (bodge job i know but until i get some money together it will have to do), so they shouldn't have gone anywhere near the cooling system. as for welder sparx comment, i would but now it is undrivable until the cooling system is sorted and birmingham is a very long way to go!
  3. where would the fuse be? i did have a quick look at the ones in the drivers footwell but couldn't see properly as it was getting dark and the fuse cover is in japanese. would this fuse also stop all the side and rear lights from working?
  4. I just got my zed back from the garage after they have supossedly fixed it. i get half way home, turn the lights on only to find that the high beams won't turn off, none of the side lights and none of the rear lights work except the brakes. i tried going back to the garage to find out what they have done only to have them tell me they haven't done anything that would affect the lights except maybe when they pulled out the rear fog switch and accidently pulled the wires off. so i tried to drive home again before it was too dark, got about a mile from home and steam started pouring out from under the bonnet :censored: managed to pull over, had a look and it looks like the plastic bit on the top where the big hose attachs has snapped off so the hose couldn't reattach properly. i managed to get it on enough to get me home, so i filled up the water again, just to find it all pi55in out the bottom of the car on the passenger side. I think i am very close to giving up on the zed now! it just seems to be one thing after another at the moment, or like today one thing on top of another on top of another on top of another etc etc :crying::surrender:
  5. personally i think adriun flux is a rip off but thats just me, as when i got a quote from them last year it was nearly 2 grand. and considering i'm 32 with nearly 15 years of driving experience, that seemed a little excessive. tell your brother to try sureterm as thats who i'm with at the moment and they are by far the cheapest i have found. although i still need to ring them with my list of mods and see how much my policy goes up. i don't really get why the insurance should be much more just because of a few cosmetic changes, it's not like i've stuck a ferrari engine in it with 1000 hp shot of nos.
  6. i just got a quote from fj for my lightly modded n/a import and it came to £821  :censored: what the hell is that about! my other quote i had without mods came in at £195. i would expect to pay slightly more than that withmods but not over £600 more!
  7. I just got my insurance renewal letter in the post this morning. i have been quoted £190 with 3 years no claims. the dilemmas i have now though are... 1- do i ring them and let them know of the mods i've done over the past year or not. 2- do i ring around to other companies and declare the mods and see what i'm quoted? i'm currently with sureterm. What insurance companies are other members with and how much are they paying with declared mods? i don't mind if my insurance goes up a bit with the mods declared but obviously not too much as the fuel bill of running it daily costs me most of my spare wedge. any help or advice will be gratefully received!
  8. you can ask for a deposit on ebay like various people have told you to do, but this does not mean that you will get it. i asked for a deposit on my old e30 tourer but never got it! this happened twice! then the 3rd time it sold, the buyer asked if it was ok to come and pick it up that evening so i didn't worry about the deposit that time. Ebay is so full of messers now that it ruins it for us honest sellers and buyers! shame there isn't another auction site really, although even if there was, it wouldn't be long before the same happens again.
  9. some great picture there mate! would love to go over there myself, maybe one day. don't think the old bill stand much chance catching anyone on that little bike
  10. it all depends on the quality of work done by the fitter. i have seen some that have looked like stevie wonder fitted it and others that look amazing. at the end of the day, you get what you pay for as with everything!
  11. yes, (the passenger side).
  12. throttle position sensor
  13. i'm guessing your talking about craig charles? you would probably find that most celebs are arseholes in person, same as if you met me
  14. i watched this the other night, and after the disappointment of the last series, i was very surprised. it seems they have gone back to how it used to be and i found it to be quite amusing. looking forward to watching the rest of the series to see if they can keep it up.
  15. i can't help you mate but thought i'd say that although the last pic is taken through a phone camera, it actually really good. hope someone can help you so you can get some even better photo's to show us :thumbup1:
  16. i used to work as a vinyl wrapper, its pretty easy to use. to answer your questions... 1..vinyl can handle heat quite well, just not too much, infact you use heat when applying to curved surface to help it stretch and wrap around. 2..vinyl is quite durable if you buy the good 3m stuff and not the cheap crap off ebay. should last around 4 years plus as mark said. 3..when using it make sure the surface you are sticking it to is absolutely spotlessly clean because once fitted any grit or dirt underneath will show up tenfold! 4.. no laquer is needed after fitting, but when cleaning, a soft cloth will be needed as light scratches and swirlmarks can show up quite easily. hope this helps mate, if you have any more questions then i'll be happy to help.
  17. wouldn't take long to repair at a wheel refurbers. will cost around £50/60.
  18. make a claim with the highways division. but before starting the procedure, take a photo of the offending pothole before they fill it!
  19. so did the car not have a warranty when you bought it then?
  20. very nice
  21. maybe the garage offered it at a cheaper price with no warranty. although sometimes the warranties are worth a to55. my sister bought an escort years ago and the engine packed in within the first month. it took 4 months and a date with the claims court to get them to honour it. shame the zed is getting broken though as it was in pretty good nick, plus being a uk model made it that little bit rarer. if i didn't have to pay the garage a fortune to sort mine out at the moment, i would be snapping up that interior without a second thought!!!
  22. the new owner blew the engine. it was in the thread below. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?164826-Engine-swap
  23. thanks to everyone who came and made it such a great day, it was good to see you all again and to meet some more of you. :thumbup1:
  24. Run 1 16.82 @ 81.98 60ft @ 2.75 - first ever attempt, spun too much off the line Run 2. 16.87 @ 82.58 60ft @ 2.71 - stumbled at start (let the clutch out too quick) Run 3. 16.73 @ 82.42 60ft @ 2.63 - prayed my car wouldn't explode Run 4. 16.11 @ 84.11 60ft @ 2.28 - good start and gave it everything seeing as it was my last run! please bare in mind while your all wetting yourselfs laughing at my figures that my car is an n/a and this was the first time i have every got involved.
