Do you speed?
Like Dan, I've been caught a few times by the boys in blue. It's not just the points and the £40 fine though. I got 3 points for doing 42 in a 30 zone in 2000 and this has added a total of almost £250 to my insurance premiums since. I appreciate the need for speed limits and I generally drive carefully and only open up on roads I know well. Let's face it, if you own a Z, it's hard not to... :D :D :D Cheerz Steve

OEM Part No
I've dug out my original Nissan invoice and the part number shown is N2659030P01. As I remember, this had to be ordered from Japan. Hope this helps! Cheerz Steve

Titanium Key
I bought a new titanium key with my Z in 1997 from a UK Nissan main dealer. The part number on the invoice is indeed KEY0000111 and it cost me £57 plus the VAT. Cheerz Steve

Help a new Z owner
Hi Shahid and welcome! I live just up the road from Jock. Had my Z for over 6 years and I'm still looking for a good local Jap mechanic! I've been travelling up to SE Nissan (Essex) for the past couple of years and they've done good work for me to date. Some forum members have had problems with them but so far I've been happy! My Z is with them at the moment so I'll update you when I pick it up on Saturday... ;) Cheerz Steve

Help for a new convert! Hurrah!
I'd personally go for a newer unmodded car. That way at least you know the history and (hopefully) that it hasn't been too badly thrashed... IMHO... Steve

350Z Roadster announced
Got an e-mail from Nissan USA this morning with details and pics of next year's 350Z Roadster. I know that the 350 has had a mixed reception here, but interested to hear what people think of this flavour... http://www.nissanusa.com/vehicles/FutureModelHomePage/0,3210,24842,00.html?Site=N04FUTE0303AAH00&Area=01&Creative=04 Be aware that the site requires Flash and can be painful on a slow connection... Best Colour
Red (my first Z) has got to be the colour to have! My current Z is grey and I'm not quite as happy with it as I was the first one... A little bit too understated :( Must agree with Markyb300 tho, his bayside blue respray looks the nuts! :D :D :D Cheerz Steve

Oh F**K it sub problems
Hi Simon Do you have the rear "roller blind" drawn over your sub? This causes major rattles in my boot as I think I told you at Bolney :(. Try it with the blind off to see if it sounds any different... Cheers Steve

Yep Stuart. Have got a laptop. I assume it uses a 9 pin serial port and comes with the necessary cable and software? Steve

Traction Control
I'll be honest Stuart, I don't think I'll be doing it myself. In two minds at the moment... I'm not great mechanically but I'm ok with electrics. Had a look at smw1's excellent install guide and I'm tempted to give it a go. Watch this space... :D Cheerz Steve

Zorst queries
Thanks for that Stu. The current turbos are stock and have done 75,000 miles so I'm a bit nervous about going the decat route. The car technically failed on emmissions at last year's MOT, but as it was borderline it was let through... I've since put a bottle of STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner through the system. Next MOT is at the end of this month :( so we'll see what the latest is. BTW has anyone heard of an MOT failure due to (slightly ;)) warped front disks. Visually they look fine. Due to change them soon for APs, but wanted the MOT out of the way first... Cheerz Steve

Zorst queries
Recently bottomed out my Z on a stupidly high speed hump and grounded the mid section of the exhaust. Now (especially when cold) it's making a loud rattling sound when revving. Took it down my local Quick Fit(!) just to get it up on the ramps and have a look. No external damage visible, but if you bang the pipes, something metallic is definitely loose in there! Anyone got any ideas what may have broken in the pipe to cause this and as a result, are there any performance or maintenance worries to consider? It seems to be running fine but it just sounds like a dog! On the same subject, I was considering having the car decatted. However, it's a UK '93 vehicle and I've read somewhere that you can only decat pre August '92 cars (something to do with the MOT and emmissions??) Any help appreciated guys...
