brake bleed
Useful info there Andrew thanks. I've got a couple of brake questions if you don't mind on your thread Spritley..... If you upgrade to a higher spec brake fluid how should you go about doing it? I know you have to completely clear the old stuff but do you do this with the new fluid or air first then the new fluid? I see clearing the ABS unit as the biggest issue. Znut, if you see this I saw you mention a tool for brake bleeding any idea what make and model it is? I thought you said Snap-on but can't find the post in the search.

Evening all
300 all the way Keith, better looking car and rarer. As much as I love the R34 GTR, the R33 is to common, to chavy and for those two reasons doesn't qualify as a classic!

How difficult a job?
There are a couple by the condenser which will be difficult as well, You might get in through the nose panel or from underneath, I can't tell without looking at the car. Do you know where they all are or would it help if I took some pictures of mine tomorrow as the engine is out but AC is back in?

How difficult a job?
I reckon the ones that go through the bulkhead would be a bitch to get anything on to turn them mate. I would definitely want to try to source the specific one/ones that were leaking before getting involved in that

Just developed an oil leak.....
Remove gear box, clutch and flywheel and you will see it. Remove it without scratching the mating surfaces otherwise it may leak through the scratch. Get a genuine one from Mike at MJP and replace. I have to do mine but fortunately the engine is out. However, I made a stupid mistake and put my sump back on before doing this otherwise I could have removed the cover that it sits in and replaced it off the engine which would have been alot easier! If I do it before you do yours I can put up some pics but it seems pretty straight forward.

loose gear stick and grinding noise
:lol::lol::lol: I saw a great quote once that read, "300ZX, making owners mechanics since 1989"

loose gear stick and grinding noise
I would say the gearbox would make noise in every gear if it was low/empty. It's probably just the fact the bushes need replacing and in those gears it's holding it at an angle where it grinds. First thing to do on Monday is call Mike at MJP in the traders section and order the parts, he'll know what your after and if its going to solve the problem. When you come to do the job check the gearbox oil level. Personally I wouldn't change the oil until the problem is solved in case the box is scrap as you'll just waste money.

Just developed an oil leak.....
Bloody lucky you noticed that mate, another member had a hose burst not long ago and it did some damage. If it is the hoses replace with these http://www.conceptzperformance.com/Cart/description.php?II=2821&Car_Type=300&UID=201306291430252.221.172.58

Starting the rebuilt engine tomorrow. few questions
Outstanding, get those vids up! How long did it take for the tappets to prime? What have you got left to do before MOT besides the gasket?

whoops turbo mistake.....
I will need to repair the bottom of the bumper on mine then get it sprayed along with the stone chips on the front end of the side skirts. That's all down the line though, the main reason I'm asking is because I've been helping my girlfriends brother and dad restore a '74 AMV8. Her brother is incredibly particular with paintwork so it would be good to give him some recommendations from someone who knows the trade. I used S R Car body repairs on Ivy Road a couple of months ago when I dented and scratched the wing of the truck on a low post whilst reversing. I'd had two quotes of £550 from big repair centres then got recommended Steve and he only charged me £200 and its perfect!

Which paint shop are you using, one in Norwich?

Big thanks to Znut!
That's a top man there, extremely generous as that's hundreds of pounds worth of work at a garage

Starting the rebuilt engine tomorrow. few questions
My input is to remember to crank the engine over with the fuel pump fuse removed to prime the oil galleries before starting and check there is oil coming from the turbo to sump oil drain. Fingers crossed for you mate!

Have a look on aus300zx.com under the user name mungyz, he designed a kit and did some dyno testing with it, definitely made a difference!

GT-R Pistonheads
Looks pretty cool to me. GTR's have always had crap interiors though haven't they, always look drab and underclassed!

Impressive but damn ugly!

Anti-freeze disposal
Lol well it could be but regardless of dilution it's still the same amount of poisonous waste your getting rid of. Regardless of whether it goes in the rainwater drain, sewer, or dumped in the drive it still makes its way to aquatic organisms. Most would say 'its only a little bit don't worry' but I'm guessing the majority dump it and I don't want to do that. Just irritates me that the tip used to take it as long as it was a sealed bottle. They take paint!

Anti-freeze disposal
I changed the oil and anti-freeze on my car recently and took the old stuff to the local tip. Oil was no problem but they wouldn't take the anti-freeze so I called the council and was told it's hazardous waste so I would have to contact a private waste disposal company. I just called one and was told £12.50+vat for my 5 litre bottle! Considering how toxic this stuff is I thought the council would want to provide a facility for disposal?

Ac compressor removal
I took mine off before removing the engine and I could barely hold a ratchet when I did it lol. I have my engine out at the moment if you want a pic from the back or anywhere to see how it attaches. Let me know if you do
