  1. I know what you mean Steams, I had to double check myself.:whistling: Might have to ask a local garage to see if they can just crack it for me.:taz:

  3. See what you meen Jeff, I also am using a 1/2 inch ratchet but with limited ground clearance, (on axle stands):cowboy: I am unable to get any real purchase on the thing, not to mention being a feeble bu**er.:wheelchair: Will have to have a re think.:taz:
  4. I think there would be a possibility of adding some heat, I might be able to get a small blow lamp in the limited space available. I am just a bit worried of cooking something. Everything is so cramped, what with sensors, wires and pipe work etc' Frustrating or what!!!
  5. As the title suggests. I have been trying all day to undo the bl**dy thing but to no avail.:taz::taz: All I want to do at the moment is add some Molyslip additive so as to try and ease gear selections. Are they fitted with some kind of sealant once refilled or something? I can not see me ever being able to budge the thing!:hammer:
  6. As for a battery charger, I would recommend a CTEK MULTI XS 3600. Can be left on for long periods of time, trickle charges, conditions etc' etc'. I too take mine of the road for winter and this is the charger I have been using with great results for ages. (Retails at around £45.00) Worth every penny if you ask me.
  7. Well I finally got a chance to try my cruise control today.:) Firstly, I can set cruise at 30mph (minimum) and so far up to 80mph. (will hopefully get a chance to try for higher soon) One thing I did notice that I had not seen before, When I activated the cruise control on the right hand side pod, the far left GREEN cruise control light lit on the dash, (nothing new there) This is the new bit, when I hit the "set cost" button on the steering wheel, a second GREEN light lit up next to it (Cruise) and hey presto, I was in cruise. OK so far so good, (had not seen this before):excl: Next I tried the cancel and resume buttons on the steering wheel, sure enough cancel gave me back control and resume picked up the cruise speed again. (I think I need to remember to lift my right foot when returning to cruise mind as there seems to be a varying delay) Now the bit I am not to sure of, I set the cruise at 70mph and everything was great, at this point I tried the resume accel button, if I hold it in the speed increases constantly and if I press it repeatedly, the speed goes up in small steps. The only thing I am unsure of here is the fact that it does not return to the original cruise speed. (70mph) I have come to the conclusion that this button has dual purpose, Resume = return to last set speed and eccel= add speed to set speed. Anyway, that the story so far, I hope to try above 80mph tomorrow.
  8. :detective:You would have thought they would of pictured the hallmark?
  9. Simply WOW! Looking forward to the next instalment.
  10. Cheers AndyP, Plus gas it is then. I presume that is an aerosol type spray similar to WD40? Ebay, here we come.
  11. Thanks Tudor and Andy P,:thumbup1: I have just re written my to do list, funnily enough, rear hub removal isn't on there anymore,:whistling: (only joking) It looks like I will have my work cut out then. but I am determined to refurbish them.:hammer: Maybe if I start soaking them know with WD40 or such like they might be more obliging by the time I attempt to remove them. Again guy's Thanks!
  12. Hi Dougal200, Yer, still at it.:whistling: Managed to finally get her MOT'd in time for some fair weather running. Fun or what?:cool3: Now that I am close to getting her sorn for the winter, I am penning a to do list. (Still some areas of welding also) Thanks for the info by the way, I imagine I will need some sort of puller to get the hub off? Other than that, it sounds quite straight forward.
  13. Making a list of winter projects to do and on it is rear hub removal. Could anyone give a brief run through for me please? (With pictures if possible) Better still, if there is already a tech "how to" and if someone could post the link I would be grateful.
  14. Are any of us even close???? Frustration setting in. lol
  15. Could be that the clutch pedal travel/disengage point was set incorrectly? sounds to me like the release bearing was constantly in contact to me. may have been the cause for the premature failure?
  16. Mine has quietened down a lot also since I used Wynn's lifter treatment, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WYNNS-Hydraulic-Valve-Lifter-Treatment-8v-16v-24v-12v-/290136699178?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item438d7eb12a (for example) coupled with an oil change. Well recommended.
  17. Inside of the differential coupling looks a bit damaged.:excl: Maybe whoever fitted the new centre support bearing forgot to tighten up the hexagon headed screws? The ones that secure the prop-shaft to it. Just a guess mind.
  18. Wow! that tops me, I think I spent the best part of 4 1/2 years ripping out all of the tin worm and replaced with new metal. I did struggle getting her through the MOT for a while, But was worth the wait!! Good luck with your MOT, I hope she walks it. I hope the Hicas diagnostic procedure works also. I have never done it myself, so would be interested to hear how you get on.
